Cyberpunk 2077 currently looks really bad on PS5 (not a shitpost).

* I think 3D audio (and audio in general) is phenomenal, like in the first 30 min I got fooled a few times by turning my head to check WTF was this (honking and sirens especially). Never happened to me before in other games.

Xbox Sx is definitely better in framerates and fidelity, but the game as it is, is shit. Better wait for next gen patches.
Stop spreading fud, fps scene by scene is almost identical, on busy roads they both suck.

Noted on the MP, but I was talking SP and BF4 was a beautiful 60fps game at launch........Cyberpunk is not an MP game...

if I had to guess, it's not because they're coding it to run best on pc. It's because their tech stacks are running on last gen processes and the "next gen" features we see on the pc version are absolutely awful (from a technically elegant perspective) and the pc version is the only place that you can just brute force your way through it enough to be playable. Think of the next generation features on pc as a minimally viable feature set rather than something that was given a huge amount of care and priority.

the reason they need extra time to release a next gen patch later is most likely to refactor much of these next gen features for performance to so they can actually run elegantly on next gen consoles without destroying the frame rate.

Yes, resolution is higher on PS5 (apparently 1200p vs dropping to 1080p on XSX) and framerate closer to locked 60 compared to XSX, in performance mode obviously. Same result as in most games so no surprise here.

Regular dips into the low 20's and utterly incapable of maintaining 30fps. No different from Cyberpunk.

Also, before the PS4/X1 gen, no one cared about fps and resolution. Go back to that gen and marvel at how many games ran at sub-HD res and failed to maintain anything resembling a stable 30fps.

My hype died like 5 years ago so between that, not being able to find a 3080 and knowing it'll be in a much better state 6-12 months from now I have no problem waiting.

Yes, framerate tanks pretty bad on XSX, someone posted a video, it goes down to 30s and stays in 40s in crowded places.

PS5 is closer to stable 60 but we need a full vgtech analysis.

Lol you wish but no. Like in every game, ps5 has slightly better res and framerate. Your video doesn't even have a fps count. Look some pages above, you've got a video with fps counter on XSX, it drops to the 30s and rarely go 60 with crowds.

No one is making excuses. You said Rockstar managed to make GTA V run well on last gen consoles when it runs like crap, so they are just as guilty as CD Projek Red.
As for RDR2, the game came out 2 years before the next-gen (current) consoles, so I have no idea why you're even bringing it up.

It's not a fact, it's an opinion that isn't based on anything objective other than you saw some vids. I've played over 6 hours on the XSX now in performance mode and haven't noticed any frame drops, it's been pretty smooth as butter.

That foliage is just straight awful.....Very blurry game, low rez shadows, drab textures masked by CA....Buildings etc don't pop and don't have that ATD you see in the best open worlds of last gen.......Some weird stuff happening with background buildings. Lots of the areas you visit are vacant and devoid of many NPC's......This is no GTA relative to density and a living breathing world.....

It's remarkably ugly on consoles. I'd expect the next gen patch to improve things, somewhat, but I wouldn't hold our collective breaths for a miracle given how taxing the game is on PCs to achieve good visual fidelity.
 
I've no idea what games people who claim this game looks next gen have played. If these are top of the line graphics then Deus Ex: Mankind Divided was ahead of it's time.

The game looks ok. Nothing groundbreaking.

Don't care which runs better, they are both far below our current standards. Nobody noticed with GTA V because no one paid attention to fps and res outside of PC gamers in 2013.

Because is bc of the ps4 pro and x1x versions they both have similar resolutions with sx have 16xA which is how bc works with a little bit higher resolution. Frame rate wise they both look the same.

Sorry, but this is NOT as bad as Cyberpunk.

GTA 5 is around 27-28 frames, and it goes down to 25 with short dips in the low 20s during intense actions. It's poor, but it's not unplayable.

Cyberpunk on PS4 seems a couple of frames worse than GTA on average, but on XOne it stays at around 20 fps or barely above at its baseline, and during action sequences in the open world it has sustained dips down to 15 fps, even when basically nothing is happening on screen.



(timestamp at 0:30 if you are on mobile)

15-16 fps is almost twice as slow as 25-28, and due to how visual perception works it's not even a linear scale. The usually accepted threshold for perceiving continuous motion instead of a series of distinct pictures is somewhere between 16 and 24 fps. What I've seen of Cyberpunk on Xbox One is a janky slideshow 90% of the time, and it becomes almost unplayable when you start to fight or things start to move fast in the open world.

This is NOT acceptable for an AAA game, and is NOWHERE as bad as GTA 5 on old consoles.

RDR2 isn't doing anything close to what CyberPunk is doing.

Few hours in and the only bug ive seen was part of my car floating while parked. Visuals are OK nothing special no noticiable framerate dips so far for me, its more than playable. Can't wait for the next gen update tho after Spiderman this feels like a big step back for the old eyes
