Sony is removing Cyberpunk from PlayStation Store

I'm not praising Sony like they did this out of some pro-consumer notion. We all know they did it because of the backlash

I'll definitley remember your dick sucking for CDPR though
Nah, they're hypocrates too. Did the exact same thing when NMS next released on GOG w/o functional multiplayer. Now its just karma.

They actually verify that those requirements were met, right? Is there nobody from Sony/MS that sits in a room and actually tries to play the game? I can't imagine that they just let it through on a "dude, trust me".
Well I mean they're paying a license fee so it's not like it'd be free anyway. Of course they wouldn't do it for all games (not enough time in the day for that shit) but for the very large (important) releases... you'd kinda they might just have a bit of dialogue pre-release.
They do pay a license fee, but the quality of the game is strictly in the hands of the dev. There's a reason you got games like Fallout 76 or Life of Black Tiger that make it to the store. The platform owners don't care one bit about the quality of the games. I probably can't find it but some devs spoke about the certification process with platform owners, and there is almost no "QA" done. That must be done by whoever makes the game.

Man, even Andromeda wasn't pulled from the store. Or that shitty biker game. Or that shitty game about zombies based on the AWESOME comic IP.

This seems to set a bad precedent. There are a lot of worse games than Cyberpunk being sold on PSN... For all the crap it gets, its still better then all the shovelware and random crappy anime games that release constantly.

I would imagine this precedent is being set because Sony is being flooded with refund requests and the most efficient way to fix this is to stop people from buying Cyberpunk (thus eliminating future refund requests) and allow refunds for the people who have already bought it. I doubt it has anything to do with being good guy Sony or worried about the quality of the product. As you said, there are tons of garbage available on the playstation store.

The difference is those shit games don't instigate mass refund requests ha

Just you wait till they start pulling games that don't have enough BLM/Trans representation to their liking. Or from companies with controversial employee Twitter accounts. We are living in a dystopia, my friend

Hell no there is, and that's not counting on the fact that CDPR lied and deliberately obfuscated the fact that CP 2077 doesn't run well on the PS4 and XB.

but as a gamer, that's stupid. They are a better dev than the majority of the devs out right now...one of the most talented stufios...

so if you like games...and games that will push things forward, CDPR is the last dev I would choose to be like "fuck them"...thats just a bad move for...gaming in general.

I agree, in part, with you. I used to love The Witcher 3, and still do. I cannot wait for that 60FPS patch on PS5, whenever it will drop. But consumers do not like to be lied to. Period.

It doesn't matter who you are, it matters what you do. CDPR learned the hard way. But they can still turn this around, I am not completely sure what they can do about the previous generation versions, but PC and probably next gen as well will be fine.

Maybe that's for the best. I can't help but wonder how much more polished the PC game would be if they didn't have to spend dev time targeting ancient hardware.

Also, this refund isn't conditional on time played.
They got greedy looking at market share but they should never have considered old consoles. Should have been next-gen only and they'd probably have made more money long term.

Im one of the games biggest fans(on PC). About 50 hours in now and I'm the middle of act 2 and I agree with this move. It shouldn't have been released on PS4 and Xbox one anyway, honestly. Or at the very least released in 2021 sometime.

This is going to be a cautionary tale for ambitious devs who want to make their games for last gen still. At some point you gotta realize what last gen can and can't do, and be willing to accept the lesser sales if you want to push it beyond.

I might request a refund, I'm at the last mission anyway, let's try and play the system!
I may be wrong but it doesn't seem like you need to request anything. It seems to be an automatic thing per the wording on that website. No refund request section or anything just a hey when we confirm you bought it we will refund you.

You could argue that there's a lot of crappy games that should be removed, but Cyberpunk have its own special place among these.

- Not a singel PS4 gameplay clip relesded before launch.

- CDPR going out of their way to remove any PS4 gameplay leaks.

- No PS4 review copies. (PC only)

- Not allowed to use own gameplay in early reviews.

I just wish I could get a refund on PC, my rig is well beyond the recommended specs but it runs way too hot for my taste even with the settings turned way down.

This isn't just a fuckup on consoles, it's a complete PC heat killer with just as bad optimization

No crashes I'm with you, but glitches...?

I'm gonna be honest, but 15 hours in and I've seen almost no glitches or bugs on PC. Just some occasional slow texture loading.

I'm saying this guys. gaming aint THAT good right now to act like CDPR isn't a dev that you should be glad exists.

one more time. gaming ain't THAT good right now; so people should seriously think about chillin out a bit.

look at the fucking game awards. how many fucking games announced looked remotely compelling, or ambitious? yeah exactly. Imma still ride with CDPR or else gaming is looking like shit right now.

you guys are playing alotttt of rehashes and business move games. better start recognizing what the real problem is tbh

It's your choice.

So strange. I feel so disconnected from the controversy. On PC I have really been enjoying the game. But it looks like an entirely different reality for console users.
On PS4, it runs at 720p at times, with a grain filter that feels like looking at a PS2 game (no joke either, 360 games look better and clearer), I had 3 crashes in 1 hour and run into major bugs in almost every major mission. I played many buggy games at launch but have never seen anything like this before. Bugs are one thing, but it looks so ugly and grainy it's hard to explain unless you play it on a PS4 and see for yourself.

It doesn't come off as a PS4 game at all, and Sony clearly has had enough too, it's just not acceptable to have this promoted as a PS4 game when it's not optimized to run on it.

Off the top of my head, the only games I think of delisted are last minute cancels like NBA Elite, or weird licensing issues. Some reason that old Eragon game (based on that adventure movie) I think had it's game and demos pulled. Although I'm not sure if that was due to a shitty game or a license issue in that situation.
to me it looks about as buggy as Assassin's Creed Unity, but the dishonesty is what disgust me...especially coming from a company like CDPR who always presented them as the "consumer" friendly company with their DRM free stance. hiding the consoles versions is just bad, and releasing a version without proper PS5 support is sloppy at this point, they should have delayed until March and I'm sure the game would have been pretty amazing.

Game is very good , sucks for console owners. Maybe they should release first on PC in the future and then port their game on consoles.
Like Rockstar does but in reverse.

The Management Board of CD PROJEKT SA with a registered office in Warsaw (hereinafter referred to as "The Company") hereby publicly discloses the decision of Sony Interactive Entertainment (hereinafter referred to as "SIE") to remove Cyberpunk 2077 from PlayStation Store until further notice. The decision was undertaken following our discussion with SIE regarding a full refund for all gamers who had purchased Cyberpunk 2077 via PlayStation Store and want a refund at this time. All copies of the game previously purchased digitally on PlayStation Store remain available for use by their respective buyers. Gamers can still buy physical versions of the game in retail and mail order stores. All copies, whether digital or physical, will continue to receive support and updates from the Company.

The Management Board of the Company has decided to publicly disclose this information in the form of a current report due to its potential influence on investment-related decisions.

they will make another game that shits on most games, trust that.

people can want them to have a shit image if they want, all they gotta do is shit on everyone again.

but then again, this game kinda shit on alot of games in it's substance and people found one thing to ride on in order to take them down, so maybe I'm wrong. it's not a matter of quality it's a matter of will gamers want their next game to be good lol

because these comparisons they are making, acting like it is supposed to be GTA, Fallout, and the witcher 3 all in one is setting it up to where cyberpunk 2078 can't compete.

i wouldn't be so confident, besides their next game is years away and their reputation is in ruins they have a lot of work to do to fix their image, the damage is done

You guys are being very naive about Sony's motives

They are doing it because: the huge amount of reimbursements requests being sent right now (yeah, way more than No Man's Sky, AC Unity or The Life of Black Tiger)

Its not because they care about bugs or the quality of the game. Its because money, obviously.

And as someone that bought the game on my PS4 digitaly, I'm fucked. But I understand why they did it.

Now I feel kinda obliged to aks for a refund because we wont receive patches anyway, so whats the point of keeping it?

Edit: oh ok, they will keep updating it. We will see.

For what? Stop hating because the game isn't playing right on your platform. Some of us are enjoying it immensely and have no issues.
Because Sony has 100 million plus to worry about. That's a big platform.
when there was an outrage at CDPR for all the bugs and shit on console versions thye issued an apology and asked consumers to ask for refunds, and turns out they didn't even contact Sony or MS and all the anger was directed at Sony for not offering refunds so i guess this pissed off Sony

CDPR gambled and lost

morale of the story: Don't fuck with Sony

and also don't pre order, it's not like the game copies will run out
Exactly
don't think so, I'd imagine Sony was just inundated with refund requests after CDPR told everyone to do so.
Exactly

CDPR wrote checks that were not cashable. It's not Sony or Msofts responsibility to clean up their mess. They're launching consoles and trying to meet demand. They don't need to be bothered.

If the idiots at CDPR delayed the game 2-3 more months until it was playable none of this would've happened but they wanted a quick cash grab, now their image is tarnished forever

i can't believe that's the same studio that made Witcher 3, scamming con artists sons of bitches

If you really feel this way about CDPR, then I hope to not see you commenting about the game when it's finally fixed on the lowly last gen consoles...

I don't think that was part of the conversation until you brought it up.
