Persona 5 Strikers (P5 Scramble) coming to Switch/PS4/PC Feb 23, 2021

The dumb bastards should release Persona 5 on PC and Switch as well rather than just a spinoff. Who is supposed to be excited for a spinoff of a game they might not have played? A spinoff is typically created to satisfy fans that couldn't get enough of the source material world/characters. Especially this genre.

Well I think that someone who likes Japanese games is less likely to buy an Xbox. Seems like common sense to me.
We will make some progress when people who don't care about Xbox will stop saying that people don't play Japanese games on Xbox.

I have been playing Japanese games on Xbox since the OG Xbox and always loved these consoles. I also play Western games, but prefer Japanese ones overall.

Who knows! However, I'm pretty confident most future games will be multiplat (hmm, is that SMT5 game being paid for by Nintendo?)
Dunno man... SMT IV was exclusive to a Nintendo console so it might be possible.

I wish SMT V was not exclusive. I love my Switch but I would love to play that game at the best possible graphics and performance, and not a blurry game at 30fps. (Which I fear might be the case)

It's also a sequel to the events of P5. Fucking stupid. Unless Sony has a hand in this I see no reason why they should not release P5R on steam after the huge success of P4.

Is it an Atlus thing? Maybe Sony holds the exclusivity for it.

P4G seems like an easy port and no brainer, like the Valkyria Chronicles release.

If that happens, and P5R does end up on Steam, I would expect that too to make it to Switch
As far as I know there isn't anything that would prevent a release on PC/Switch. I could see Sony paying for some sort of timed exclusivity but any sort of deal in perpetuity seems unlikely. It is also possible that Sony could have helped finance the mainline game in which case things might be complicated. That said, we did get P4G on PC recently. I could see the PC port being a small concession from Sony to maintain that relationship and exclusivity for future titles but that still doesn't make any sense considering P4G didn't release on PS4.

A lot of Atlus' releases don't make sense since we don't have a view behind the curtain. Why did 13 Sentinels release only on PS4? Not a game that I imagine there is a deal in place and would likely sell better on PC/Switch Why did P4G only get a PC release and not PS4/Switch? Why is SMT getting a simultaneous release but P5R was a staggered release?

My assumption has always been that this has always been a case of PS being the only viable Japanese platform for the games and spirit of partnership between Atlus and Sony. I've always assumed that was the situation with both SMT/Nintendo and Persona/Sony. Hopefully they listen to the fans and make something happen on PC/Switch. IMO, with PC rising in popularity in Japan, Sony shifting to focus on the Western market, and Switch having a significantly larger install base than PS in Japan keeping the series exclusive doesn't make sense to me. In fact, SMT exclusivity makes much sense financially than Persona exclusivity.

Digital Devil Saga Remaster when?

That's the common speculation, that Atlus and Sony have some kind of deal in place. But I rather think that their in-house engine, on which most Atlus games are running on, is probably a clusterfuck and barely works. So to port it to another platform would be a significant task. I can't think of any other explanation why SMT3 HD was redone in Unity and why there are no ports for Persona 5. (P5 Scramble uses Koei Tecmo's engine). But then again, Sega did port P4 over to PC, so I don't know what happened there... and it even was the Vita version. Hmm.

Oh, i know Xbox does have people who buy games that aren't what the stereotype says, but it still sadly feels like it's not enough.

A lot of games just don't seem to come to Xbox for whatever reason, every once in a while i find a game like this, for example, the Turrican Anthologies for some retro gamers are coming for, you guessed it, PS4 and Switch only.

I did get a Xbox Series X though, and i am planning on buying games for it, really considering pre-ordering Balan Wonderworld because it seems to be Nights Into Dreams as a 3D platformer, and already wishing i could buy R-Type Final 2 but that one isn't purchasable yet.

I simply like to see the half full glass. I think that some great work has been done concerning Japanese games on Xbox from the very beginning (Xbox OG). We get much more games than before, and I don't really see a diminishing trend, quite the opposite.

There were some nice successes recently. I think that the response to FF XV was very good on Xbox, Nier Automata which was digital only, one year later also had a good response, and we will get Nier Replicant day-one. On 360, there were many great Japanese games. This is the gen where we got Final Fantasy for example. It was a very important achievement. On Xbox One, we got even more series, such as Yakuza or Dragon Quest and even PSO2. These are important series for the Japanese market.

Sure we are not getting all the more niche games from Falcom (well we got Ys Origin), nothing from Atlus since Catherine (which is BC and runs perfectly well) but I feel that Persona is not far ahead, and Ark System Works look like they don't want to put Guilty Gear on Xbox anymore (don't know why honestly). But this is still a much better situation overall.

Wouldn't surprise me. Atlus is formed by total hacks who really need proper QA and management in their projects.

They haven't uncompressed the music in the SMT Nocturne remake, and I bet my ass that it's because those wacks have lost the original tunes.

I bought the Ultimate Edition of Persona 5 Royal on PS4 but if they release it on PC too then I will double dip without ZERO hesitation.

There was a rumor that P3 is getting a PC release as well...no idea what the situation is there since FES and Portable are different games.

Maybe they finally release the definitve version of P3, with all the content of both versions and controllable party members.

I liked everything about Persona except playing it. I just can't stand the daily limitations aspect of those games and the dungeon time limits. So having those visuals, music and overall style in a mindless musou game will be fun, after it went on sale.

Me kinda? lol
I wouldn't say excited, but I've always been more interested in scramble than the main game, because I don't like turn based, but I always liked the art style of Persona 5, so Scramble always seemed like a game more suited for me. But not being able to follow the story would be problematic.

I guess one could look at synopsis or hope the game offers an explanation of what happened previously, for example, the first game i got for my Xbox Series X, DMC 5 Special Edition?

It has before the main game even starts, an option to tell you what happened in the previous 4 games, i think Kingdom Hearts 3 also has an option to summarize all that happened in the other two games and all the spin-offs, basically developers trying to make sure newcomers can still understand what is going on.

Sega should be embarrassed that it took well over a year to bring this outside of Japan.

Embararrsed? Why? WW publishing delays is standard for Musous', as it is a soulless, Japanese genre, that historically on average has never sold well in the west. Other markets aren't high priority for these publishers. Not even Nintendo could be assed to allocate more than 2 people to localise their biggest IP on time!

Thank you Sega for releasing this game on multiple platforms! So many long time Persona fans finally will be able to play a Persona game for the first time.

Finally! I'm really looking forward to this game.

I honestly didn't think we would get an announcement in 2020, but I'm so glad we did.

Can anyone confirm if the Japanese PS4 version does 4K if you play it on PS4 Pro or the PS5?

I just might get the PC version if it offers 4K.

It also looks like ATLUS is sending some promotional(?) mystery box to Morgana's English voice actor:

And Jeebus, that is a scary huge scissor she has!

Are we going to see all there's JRPGs PS4 only, with no ps5 version? Even when there's a PC version it could match. I hope they can at least have a unlocked frame rate.

My understanding is the PS4 version has a Graphics mod toggle. Stole the below screenshot from a video. I pre-ordered on Switch because I want Atlus to port the other titles there but 900p, 30FPS is less than ideal. Might get it on PS or PC instead and pick it up on Switch later.

Loading times also look bad and I have a PS5 too....perhaps Switch is not the way to go.

Thanks for the info. Looks like the PS4 on the PS5 won't be too bad in resolution, It probably won't ever dip down to the dynamic 1440 if you play it on the PS5 I am guessing. So it's looking like I will keep the Royal and Striker together on one platform ; )

And bonous confirmation that it will be 60fps on the PS4/PS5.

Thanks again. I think I can safely make a pre-order on this game ;)

Yeah, I might go PS4/5 on this on as well. As much as I want Atlus to bring the series over to Nintendo I also want the framerate and resolution benefits.

The new soundtrack is pretty rad:

I'm sure you can find a lets play out there for Persona 5 that skips the gameplay.

900p 30fps for the Switch isn't bad. Now if we can get SMT on PlayStation...
