God of War 2018 PS5 patch incoming

Wish they'd of announced this earlier. (Asked a ton on Twitter) decided to buy the doc version and play the unpatched game.

Finished it a week ago and it was absolutely amazing.

That said, still super excited for this. Have a ton left to do in the game. And will be nice to have all the benefits of the patches.

Also great for everyone who hasn't played it or replayed it, or got their hands on a PS5 yet.

Yeah I'm glad to have the update while trying to do stuff for the plat

Wish it was native 4K 60, it's a last gen game? It was already 1080 60 on pro. Is it that hard to make it native 4K 60 on the ps5?

Always loved GOW games. This one took it to another level and is definitely a top 10 all time for me.

This game is gorgeous enough it's worth another playthrough on NG÷

What do they mean when they say:

- 4K checkerboard
- 2160p

Doesn't one contradict the other? I mean, if you checkerboard your way to 4K it means you are not rendering @ 2160p natively?

I hope they whip their 1st party studios into doing more of that kind of patches, just basic stuff, same for ND and even the other kind of exclusives they had external studios work on. These 30fps lock screwed us for the generational transition.

Anyway, amazing game, I will probably get the PS5 around Easter or something.

Yes and no. The GPU indeed creates a 4k image via a reconstruction techique, not an upscaler.

Yes and it looks like ass @1080p.. If you didn't notice then I'm sure that this patch does not matter to you lol
So suddenly GoW is a bad looking game?

Its not a bad looking game but when you are gaming on a 75 inch 4K TV the difference is highly noticeable and its a bit rough around the edges and in comparison to the Dynamic 4K, yes it looks like shit!

Fuck!!!
I played Jedi Fallen Order on PS5, finished it. One week later - next gen update. Then I decided to finally play God of War, finished it. The week has passed. Update! What the hell?!
What game should I finish next?
I might be pushing it but...
Could you like play the whole Metal Gear Solid series and Silent Hill up to SH: THE ROOM
much appreciated 👀

PS: and don't dawdle.

I game on 4k 27" monitor and 1080 games like this and colossus look soft and blurred. High res mode looks like real 4k. Their checkerboarding was great

"You can go back to the original PlayStation 4 'Favor Resolution' video graphics mode at any time by selecting Original Performance Experience, which will offer 4K Checkerboard Resolution* synced to 30 FPS."

That's bonkers.

If you want to know if your TV has a true 10-bit panel then put your model number in the search here and do a control-f for "panel bit depth":

This is my understanding of it anyway, others please feel free to correct me if you have more knowledge on the subject.
Checked that the C9 I have is a true 10 bit panel... phew 😅, it is. Already knew that, but that link made me paranoid haha.. lots and lots of low level details, thanks for the link and a well reasoned post.

I tink they mean rendered @ checkboarded 4k and output @ 4K. But I agree, it's kinda redundant.

Co sign on Uncharted 60fps patch. Not the best Uncharted because Druckmann, but what's good is good.

Really want a killzone shadowfall 4k patch and a Ratchet and clank 60fps patch. There's others i'd love but some are unrealistic.
Agree wholeheartedly with this. Uncharted 4 was enjoyable and had some genuinely great moments, but it's staggering how much better the franchise was when Amy was in charge. I hope she gets to put out something great in the near future.

Never finished this for PS4 ... but was oh so close if I recall. Not sure why I never did as I did love the game.

Will probably start fresh with this patch and my x900h TV that I have finally.

For those concerned about checkerboarded rendering, Wipeout Omega colection let's you choose between native 4K and checkerboarded 4K. It was given on PS Plus. Try it out and see if you can tell the difference.

lg 27uk650. 4k, ips, 40-60hz freesync. shit hdr.
Very nice monitor overall, especially for 4k60 gaming
sweet, I think that particular model you've mentioned is in my product wishlist. Even Benq's got this really good 1440p monitor IPS panel offering 144Hz (limits to 1080p via the PS5 since this monitor doesn't have hdmi 2.1 for higher res at higher frame rate), it even outputs 1440p signal by taking the 4k ps5 signal and downsampling it internally.

PS4 games do not use the entire PS5 feature set, they are running like more stable and faster Pro versions. What they can do is unlocking the framerate, and change to dynamic 4k as they did for Days Gone.

if GoW was remastered for PS5, expect load times to be fully removed, native 4k mode, RT mode, perhaps 120hz mode etc.
