The Lunch Legend

GAF's Nicest Lunch Thief and Nosiest Dildo Archeologist
For me, it depends on the context. On a sandwich, I usually go for mayo. On a burger, I want Mayo, Mustard, and Ketchup. But you can't have something like a bratwurst without some good brown mustard.

Also,

-Pastrami - mustard

-Tuna - mayo

-Ham and Cheese - both

-Egg Salad - both

-Turkey Sandwich - mayo

-Spam - mustard

I wavered on sriracha. I use it a lot, but do I ever think it's missing? I think its highlights are that it is a thick hot sauce and just eastern enough to not turn food into American food.

A more piquant thread would be mustard vs. ketchup, as these two are the definitive cheeseburger garnish.

No sweet chilli sauce or maple syrup?

Generally its those 2 or bbq.

Unless a roast dinner then its horse radish and mint sauce for days

I'm one of few people who hate ketchup, even with french fries.

I like mustard with sausage rolls and sauces with various meat dishes.

If it's going in my hair, mayonnaise all the way. If it's going on my nips or a wiener, gotta be mustard.

My little cuz's been trying to get me to try mayonnaise and saltine cracker sandwiches saying he loves them. No thank you, food monster.

As a french, I have a question : What is the difference between mustard and "Dijon" ? Never heard about it. In France we have "Moutarde de Dijon" (Mustard of Dijon, which is the town where it comes from)

On topic my favorites : Mayonnaise, Mustarde and Soy sauce.

Doesn't dijon have mustard seeds in it?

Depends on what you are eating really.

But generally I'd say REAL Mayonnaise > Mustard > Industrial Mayonnaise.

I hate Mayo. I just think it's so nasty. It has this warm oily feel it gives to everything and I hate the flavor of it. I won't eat a sandwich with Mayo. I don't get why people like it on everything.

BBQ sauce is my favorite, I'll put that on anything I can.

Bbq, ketchup, horseradish(on burgers), mustard(any kind apart from that sweet, rancid stuff like French's which is basically yellow ketchup). Also balsamic vinegar on chunky chips.

I like Mayo and deli mustard on my sandwiches. Also Boars head sandwich oil goes a long way too with some cured meats.

On a burger I want Ketchup, Mayo and Mustard, but Pickles are a must too.

It's not that I don't like Mayo, it's that I can't think of any food that it doesn't make worse when applied.

Maybe on some boiled eggs it works.

Mayo is good when used more as a binding agent rather than a condiment.
Aoli is just Mayo that traveled abroad. But is better for it

Easy choice - soy sauce.
Being Asian, It's not condiment for me - it's more of an essential ingredient, like salt or sugar etc.

The existence of aoli is what makes it a tough choice. Mayo and mustard are both very versatile. They even go together!

The only version of ketchup that is good is either homemade or the "no sugar added" versions you can sometimes find in stores.
