Finally on the RDNA2 train! Got myself a 6800xt for $900, which is slightly more than what I paid for my EVGA 3070ti but this a much, much better GPU. This particular AIB is cooled very well so it runs great, it is big tho.. the heat sink in that thing is as big as the PS5 lol

Side note, smart access memory is working on my MSI B450 board with the latest bios and a 5600x CPU.

Overall, I think I'm set for Windows 11 and until RDNA3 and DDR5 launch in a year or two.

I can't tell you 100% for sure, but I do believe you'll get your money back. I've seen online of sellers saying that eBay normally sides with the buyer in most cases. Just gotta open a dispute if something isn't right. Good luck with your transaction though!

I don't have ultrawide, but give DOOM Eternal RTX upgrade a try. Then try out Gears Hivebusters, FS2020, and FH4. FS2020 will be getting a new update for PC on the day of the console version launch, so you can see it before and after. This is just GP PC stuff.

It's fun to benchmark your system on 3DMark, and they have a few new benchmarks for RT, VRS, etc. Boundary benchmark is cool for trying out different DLSS settings...

Hi all. My nephew tells me he is struggling to run a modded Minecraft server so he's looking to get a new GPU. He tells me his budget is $200 but I may bump that up to $300-350 or so.

I'm out of the loop. Last build I did was over 5 years ago. I google'd around and saw that maybe the 5500 XT would be a respectable option in this range.

However, it looks like this "sub-$200 card" is selling for $450 now. So what is one to do? Are we all forced to pay a 2x mark-up on GPUs right now? How is the mark-up trending? Is it coming down? Going up? Been steady for a long time? Like I said I'm really out of the loop in terms of GPU shopping.

What would you suggest to someone in this situation?

Ebay is notoriously more forgiving to buyers than sellers. I personally would be far more worried as a seller than a buyer.

You can get an RTX 3060 for 600euros which is still 50% over msrp but compare that to just a month ago where you either couldnt buy one or you had to pay 2-2.5x times over msrp

So Finally put together my new build....almost. This is to replace my 2600k that has been hanging on since 2011!

I accumulated everything over time using saved gift cards from gifts, CC points, only buying on sale or deals or prime day sales, etc. I paid out of pocket to me ~50% of MSRP for everything. I am actually pretty happy with the job I did, the only thing I didn't buy on sale and paid fully out of pocket for was the 5900X. By far the best deal was getting the 34 inch ultrawide Alienware for $435 ($615 prime day sale -$120 Amex dell deal -$60 Rakuten cash back.

Yeah... I heard the same and checked the Asus strix 3080 ti and it was still $2,400 lol. That's double what I paid for my whole build (minus gpu). Sorry, not buying that.

supposedly 4x8GB is better for ryzen 2000 and 3000, as long you dont overclook ram too high. 4 sticks are harder to maintain the overclocks.

You can try your luck for 3733 and 3800, if it works it works, if not, reboot and be fine with 3600.

My friend used it for gaming. Never did mining with it. I am going to sell the 5500 XT for about 300 but will take 280 at the min. Most eBay sales were like 400 which I thought was ridiculous given the price I paid for it originally.

Just turn on XMP and run it at 3600, memory OCing is rarely worth the headache. You got 4 sticks so you dont have to worry about the dual rank issue.

Man, putting together a PC is so fucking fun, I'm jealous of you. You got good shit, too. I have a similar combo with the NVMe+SATA SSD, but in 1TB+1TB instead. It was just the way I upgraded, but it will prevent you from having to step up to a 4TB, so at least a couple hundred in savings and the loading time difference in something like DOOM Eternal was negligible for me.

Same here in the netherlands. 3080's are starting to move to 1400 and the 3090 sits at 2k at this point. All in stock.

Hope it keeps going so prices fall even further.

That was my plan. The upgrade from 16GB CL18 to 32GB CL16 should be enough. I'm hoping it helps with warzone ..that game is broken on PC

Well I didn't get the card I wanted, someone came in and kept battling me for it and sniped it at the very end. Still not losing hope but it's pretty annoying. The search for an Aorus Xtreme continues.

In the meantime, can anyone recommend a monitor that will take advantage of the proposed setup? 4k isn't an absolute must, 1440p is. The way I see it, this investment will be severely hampered if I don't have a screen that takes advantage of the goodness, so if there are any pointers I'd love to hear them.

Please, please be careful here. Take a look at the "Sold and shipped by" tag in the upper right. You're not buying this from Newegg. You're buying it from China.

And china has a fuckton of cards they need to get rid of since the crypto mining got clamped down on. Look at the reviews of this and other sellers and you'll see a lot of people are getting used cards.

I saw a 10700kf for $240 and would really like the upgrade, but I'll need a new motherboard and cpu cooler too. Would it be better to get the Ryzen 5600x (cheapest I've seen is $280) for gaming? Also, if I get a non-Z motherboard, with boost technology for the i7-10700kf going to 5.1GHz, would I really benefit from a motherboard that overclocks for gaming? The Z motherboards seem a lot more expensive.

5600X easily. it seems to match or outperform the 10700K and at the same time be more efficient. with AMD you don't need to worry about which board to buy. you can throw a 5600X in a B550 board (you don't need an X570) and you'll be good to go. AMD seems to run great out the box but if you want to try overclock it you can even on a B550 board.

as for motherboards i'd personally recommend Gigabyte. My first ever board was Gigabyte. My AMD board is an X570 Gigabyte Master and my 9900K has a Z390 Gigabyte Master. you don't need a Master but they have cheaper options like the Ultra, Pro, Elite. if not Gigabyte then Asus/MSI are good choices too.

5600x = more single core performance and pci-e 4.0.
10700k = more cores = more multicore performance and less single core performance with pci-e 3.0.

Personally probably will go for 5600x as u can always swap that out for a better cpu later on. If they still support those boards with there next ones or sit on it until pci-e 5.0 launches.

Hey all!
So, after putting it on hold for some time, and getting info on components (thanks to whoever pointed me towards the linustechtips forums), I'm finally going to make a new machine soon™; I'd like to put the order sometime next week so it arrives during my days off at the end of the month, but I'm going to ask for some advice here first.
I'm going to get something pre-built because I can't be arsed to do it myself anymore, and because I have more money to pay for it than time to do it anyway; problem is, the choice for some components, mainly the case, is very limited. And as they strictly sell pre-built systems, they only have OEM processors and don't have the stock coolers.

Here's what I'm going for:

• Ryzen 5600X
• Deepcool Gammaxx C40 (that's the default cooler they use for their low-end builds, 92mm, 130W TDP; should be enough for a 5600?)
• ASUS TUF-RX6700XT-O12G-GAMING (a bit overkill for my current needs, but at least it's in stock, and I'd rather get something bigger now and be "safe" for future games)
• ASUS TUF B550-PLUS GAMING (upgrading from their default B450; I could also take a Strix instead but I don't really need the extras on it, like wi-fi or the extra USB 3.0)
• 16 GB DDR4-RAM, Dual Channel (2x 8 GB), 3200 MHz, Kingston HyperX Fury BLACK Series (only CL 17, if that matters; still muuuch better than what I currently have)
• 1000 GB M.2 PCIe SSD Kingston NV1 (my first SSD, I don't know much about those; the PCIe ones seem to be much faster than SATA, but cost the same? Am I missing something?)
• case: CSL Apollon (that's where I'm a bit disappointed, if not suspicious, as I can't really find any reviews. Looks-wise it's... meh, but it will be sitting under my desk anyway, and worst case (ha!) if it has super bad airflow or something I can easily get a batter one and migrate everything. It does come with 2 fans on the front though, which is 2 more than most cases I see)
• Corsair TX650M, 89 % Efficiency, 80 Plus Gold (according to various simulators on PSU manufacturers' sites; 650W should be more than enough, especially Gold. If I was building it myself I'd have chosen a fully modular one, but... not my problem this time around )

All of that for a bit less than 1700€, to which I'll have to add the cost of the OS (gosh, guess I'll need to get a 8GB USB key somewhere and a 2€ license key again). What do you all think? Is there anything I should change, like an obviously bad model or brand?
