Jordan Peele's new horror film, brilliantly titled Nope, coming July 22, 2022 (starring Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, Steven Yeun)

Before anyone asks: yes, this one is actually directed by Peele.

I say that because studios tried to fool people with stuff like Antebellum, which was billed as "from the producer of Get Out and Us" (but Peele had nothing to do with it).

That thing coming out of the clouds looks like the thing hanging off the bottom of the Delorean in Back to the Future 2 just before Doc gets zapped back to 1885!

"brilliantly" titled nope.
Cue eye roll.

Ya'll give this dude too much credit. He makes movies that he wouldve chopped to bits on key and peele. Pretentious af

Saying it was from the producer of a successful movie is standard practice and stop acting like it takes a lot to figure out this is directed by peele.

I enjoyed his last two movies. Yeah, there is absurd social commentary in those movies, but some of it is interesting, and I can appreciate it even if I probably clash with 99% of his political beliefs.

I'll give this movie a go.

Get Out > Us

But I enjoyed both movies despite them obviously not being traditional horror or even scary. I saw both in theaters and don't regret the experience. I understand the hype for Peele as a director, and I'd like to see this new one as well, even if it's like what the user above me said - a social commentary.

It's standard but scummy Hollywood practice that aims to misdirect less-informed people. The average person that sees this poster is going to immediately think "oh Jordan Peele?".

The only way you would know otherwise is if you look up info on IMDB, and the average moviegoer isn't going to do that. Stop defending scummy practices.

"less-informed" "average" let's be honest, you mean morons. It even says producer right on the poster lol

I'll watch it because horror is my favourite genre. But I'll be damned if it isn't a frustrating genre to love. I watch a lot of shit just trying to find a good horror movie. He hasn't made a movie I want to watch a second time, yet, but I haven't regretted watching either of his movies. That kind of puts him in my top 10% of modern horror creators straight away!

I like the comedy he's done but is there any reason to have faith on such a stupid name?

We've fallen hard on some of these movie genres.

couldn't agree more

Lol same

like, you don't need to tell us something is brilliantly titled, even if it actually was. The brilliant title would speak for itself. However in this case it's really not even that brilliant of a title 😂

It's a simple, catchy word, like the rest of his movies. Jordan Peele is catering to a specific demographic and I just have no interest in any of his pandering movies.

I know he has gained steam over the past five years due to the current social climate. But will anything he makes hold up in ten, twenty or thirty years... NOPE.

Most people today,

I get the feeling when watching his films that initially he wanted to make a comment about something significant but got corralled into expressing the "theme of the day." I think now he's all aboard that train because it's his bread and butter.

"It's about race, right?" - Producer
"…..Sure." - Peele

Later….

"I make movies about race." - Peele

Admittedly, I'm probably wrong, but that's the feeling I got watching "Us." It could also be he doesn't know how to develop a concept🤷‍♂️

I thought get out was amazing but didnt like US. It started out amazing and but fell apart by the end. Wasn't a big fan of the twist.
