EDIT: Funny how Jason Schreier didn't have an inside scoop nor an article about this. How long before expose pieces start cropping up on gaming news sites? Pretty telling when GAF was pushed through the gaming news syndicate but with ERA it's slow going? ERA/Cerium deserve the searing spotlight in the next few days.

Anyone who doesnt believe everything they believe or isn't left leaning gets called a nazi. And I'll be honest there are extreme people on both sides, and there are a lot of trumpers or pro right leaning people who are little too outspoken. There's nothing wrong having a political opinion but you need to keep your emotions in check and not start flinging names, cursing at people who dont see eye to eye or your point of view.

ERA's issue is they want to be this progressive movement forum for everything, and used the userbase from this place who jumped over to do it via GAme discussions. AND THEN they tried to be pro progressive with anything that got reported on in game industry. Which theres nothing wrong with that, but they banned people who would play devils advocate or come in with different perspective.
So then when games like Cyberpunk or Hogwarts would have tons of traffic of people exicited to talk about the game they use that to push agenda's in things like trans movement because a polish developer made a game that showed trans in poor light and had some choice opinions on trans they hated from twitter. And then when it came to JK Rowling they think she's a shit human for literally having reservations on things within tans community since she herself has kids, and is a writer for children's books.

People can have opinions that are shit or just uninformed or sometimes just wrong. But you dont rule threads/OT'S with authoritarian moderation where you literally are making a stance on what you want the discourse to be in a sense. Thats where they jumped the shark way back, and thats why most people have left.
Neogaf never did that, but before the mod exodus there was def a change in the air in moderation that literally was similar to what reset became. I think they knew if they pushed anymore Evillore would have seen the red flag in what was happening behind the scenes in what people really wanted.


Now the truth has come out, that Resetera was literally planned from days of Neogaf, they used the Evil lore scandal to have an exit and literally had everything ready to go before hand. SO this was planned in my opinion. They saw the numbers of neogaf activity wise, saw the attention it got to where neogaf got a literal documentary on gametrailers with Keightly, Jeff gertsman. They used also people like Shinobi and the likes who had tons of friends/contacts in the industry.

And for the longest time resetera was seen as the good guys for developers to come and have discussion without trolls, or hostility. But really it was poitical/agenda driven experiment that used the popularity of video games and news to grow their agenda. They used the implosion scandal to get all the hype attention and it worked.
Now i believe tons of developers have been posting less, or at least high profile developers outside of launching their games. I dont know what the future looks like, but would not bat an eye that we see more people including industry people come back or reach out to evillore and the mod team to see what the landscape looks like.
Getting rid of Political was step in right direction as Neogaf was always about games/developer discussions.

Because of this I don't think much is going to change at Era, atleast for now. Who knows what will happen in the future.
Unsuprisingly the way the story for Era ends is exactly how noone wanted it to begin with.
You do not want to repeat the past but sometimes the past becomes the present anew.

Starting with this sell-off I think this might set certain things in motion we do not know exactly how they will pan out. The future is going to be interesting.
Knowing that ResetEra got sold to some random european company does make it even funnier though.
Y'all aren't ready yet for the inevitable site changes that will surely come in a year (or even sooner rather than later).
Respect to all the users over there who just simply do not give a fuck anymore and stopped "pretending" everything is fine.
In a way it is kinda amusing (and also saddening) how people still defend this move though. I have no idea what kind of guy Cerium is but he certainly isnt a poor individual anymore.

How can something be canceled when it's already been paid. Cerium obviously made this announcement after the deal went through. He would lose some money I think the deal includes a retention deal but that's not for all the money. So in the end he still has a few million he made. It was smart for him to keep this quiet and make the announcement soon as the deal went through he probably waited at the last minute he had to as I'm assuming the mods would get need eventually.

Because it doesn't seem like M.O.B.A has the keys to the house yet and the mods are doing an amazing job at adding fuel to the fire.

I'm pretty sure if there's only a few burnt pillars remaining of the house, and Taysan still hanging on what used to be the front porch, the lawyers will go after Cerium. He should have wiped the mod team.

I got banned for asking why it was OK for Caucasians to try to impose their concepts of morality on Japanese developers in a thread that said Zelda should be black or trans or something. I thought it was a truism that you should not judge other cultures and by obvious similarity, impose your morals on them, but when that goes against representation begging, I guess it is flat out wrong.

Everyone has a price. The problem here is that there shouldn't have been a single owner. This place should've been owned by a community as a non-profit org, not an LLC. This oversight will probably be how this place will lose whatever cachet it had because the facade all fell off.
