What is this insanity??
It was all me. I messaged randos and was all likeThere's a sticky on the front page of the Gaming forum warning posters, and yet, people are still warring and getting banned.
What is this insanity??
tl;dr - Atari sucks.
I'll change it in the morning.![]()
It's a fine line sometimes, much like your avatar.
Some people just have to scratch their initials into that cathedral.
They don't realise robocop mods with anti grav jump packs are going to swoop in and fuck up their day.

You can, just do it here.console war should be allowed! It's wild and stupid as fuck, but free speech must be allowed, if I wanna say Nintendo is kiddies I should be allowed to...

Console War Thunderdome |OT| We Don't Need Another Hero
WELCOME CONSOLE WARRIORS TO THE THUNDERDOME! Use this thread to war against the plastic box you dislike the most. Don't like Sony? This is your place. Think Xbox has no games? Grab your favorite meme weapon. Two warriors enter, one warrior leave!www.neogaf.com
And nowhere else.
Yeah it's called the entire forum. It's actually pretty awesome to have a thread solely dedicated for those filthy warring animals to have at each other. Is there a thread for clowns like me that own all the consoles, but never have time to properly play and use them?
At this point, in very contentious threads, might as well add /s to the end of your posts so you wouldn't get hit by the crossfire.I got banned for a week for saying that Game Pass is the best deal in gaming and it's so cheap that Microsoft will soon start paying you just to subscribe.
The thing is, I use the service on Xbox Series and on PC and I really like the value it represents. It helped me discover my favourite game this year (The Ascent) and it's generally great for trying out new games that you wouldn't otherwise.
You need be careful how you word things because mod team can take it the wrong way and then poof you're gone.

Commodore v spectrum then the Amiga v ST… then the console wars for me.As a veteran of the SNES/Genesis - PS2/Xbox consoles wars, I do not believe old men should send young men to die.
It's honestly nice to like everything.
The only issue I have is with not enough money to justify it. If I had it my way I'd have a high end Gaming PC, Xbox, Switch and Playstation.
Oh wow, you're going to love this one. There used to be a user here called Sydney Prescott. I was about to tag them and warn them about you but I think they requested a ban.
Now my joke and my entire day is ruined.
Oh wow, you're going to love this one.

I am Sidney Prescott. I came back under a new account, so thus, Billy Loomis was born.
Or maybe a dedicated video game war thread?console war should be allowed! It's wild and stupid as fuck, but free speech must be allowed, if I wanna say Nintendo is kiddies I should be allowed to...
You're a man after my own heart.Yeah, that was the thought in the back of my head.
Also I just picked up Scream in 4k for Halloween so that's a nice treat.
Somehow I doubt the tone of your comment here is how the content that got you banned was worded...I got banned for a week for saying that Game Pass is the best deal in gaming and it's so cheap that Microsoft will soon start paying you just to subscribe.

Bill O'Rights They get a warning first before the ban right?
It's made the gaming forum a little more readable for me, who doesn't go for the console warring. I like this approach to stem the tide, but I'm also glad it's temporary. Sometimes you may want to say something factual in regards to one system or one exclusive vs another but not say it because it might be viewed as just warring. It's a worthwhile sacrifice though.![]()
That's a joke folks. Hinush In the significant majority of cases this is the approach that has been taken yes. I'm sure it's no surprise that most of the names that are appearing (and reappearing) on the ban list are for users who have multiple, multiple warnings for previous instances of console warring or just trying to be antagonistic. In these cases, and especially for those who have also served bans, they go straight into the sin bin for a week.
Neo members who appear to have signed up for the same purpose will go straight into the temporary sin bin, and alts to the graveyard. We need to nip it in the bud immediately, especially the '"but I thought x was y" posts. Those who have clean accounts and make an off the cuff remark, we will issue a courtesy warning with something like "Take the time to read the sticky please" (unless the intent has been clear to just incite pages upon pages of arguments). This will also be extended to active or long time posters who make a post that could be construed as console warring. Certain posters will have earned the benefit of godwill based on their history, and we actively choose to have a charitable reading on those specific instances (in order to keep the collateral damage to a minimum).
We appreciate as a games forum, there will always be some level of console warring or jovial eye poking but unfortunately the main board had gone far beyond that. Most threads were being ruined by a small persistent contingent. And like most things as it became more concentrated, it started to become the dominant flavour in several types of threads (technical comparisons, sales threads, forecasted services etc). However, we also didn't want to leverage the opportunity to just starting banning those users without a more public, generalised instruction to everyone.
So we took the decision to put in place a temporary escalation of response to console warring specifically. We've had an uptick in recent registrations and accounts so really need to draw a line in the sand regarding the ratio of the console war type posts to actual discussion. To that end, I think the policy has largely been successful, certainly from the topics we've read, monitored and measured that usually draw these types of problems. That's probably a combination of certain members being on hiatus and a result of the tonal shift it offered the boards.
It's not going to be a permanent policy as we come up the one month anniversary after instigating it. I think the message we will convey when we remove it, is that it's not necessarily a relaxation of the rules with regards to those with multiple warnings, but a baseline of what we expect to see in the forum to the aforementioned {discussion:console war} posts if that makes sense.
Even if you don't it is stupid to get attached to a plastic box and cheer a multibillion corporation. It's just poor people who can't afford more than one console. Don't mock them for being childish little fanboys, pity them for being poorsies.
Of course it is. It always makes me laugh when I state a preference for an aspect of one console and it pisses off the fanboys of the other console. Neither console is perfect, which is why it's great owning both.Even if you don't it is stupid to get attached to a plastic box and cheer a multibillion corporation.
