Why are people still getting banned for console warring?

It’s just poor people who can’t afford more than one console. Don’t mock them for being childish little fanboys, pity them for being poorsies.
I imagine for most people it isn't a case of "being poorsies" as you described, but rather having a finite amount of time to play games.

For me personally I haven't got the time these days to have multiple consoles and play exclusive games, so I get the console that has games that appeal to me the most.

Ok, do you then go on forums and act like a complete ass towards the console you didn’t choose?

“Aww, it’s so...average,” she said to him in a cold brick of passion
Why? I posted in Politics probably more than most here and even I think the forum is light years better without it.

The Gaming Section is fine for the most part. Just a small percentage of people discuss the consoles like they are talking about sports teams. Everyone else is a normal person.

The idea of middle aged men arguing about video games will never not be funny.

Never got the console warring thing. Used to be computer warring but that was when you were a kid and dependant of what either your parents could afford or what you could after saving saving doing work after school.

I know people who go on about it and my eyes glaze over.

Spectrum Vs. C64. Megadrive Vs. SNES. Mac Vs. PC. Never forget.

That was kids, not middle aged men. Relatively they probably at the time would have cost as much as a PS5 on release at a guess.

I never got it either. I'm one of those people that wished they could have played on everything growing up. I was never attached to a single system.

Even when I had 360, I always wanted to play on PS3 as well.

Still feel like that these days, and would like to get an Xbox, Switch and Gaming PC to add to my collection.

I was lucky enough to have started on 'Pong', father hated me asking to take it out, then Spectrum and C64. Amiga and AtariST after NES and Megadrive. Best was playing 'Dark Castle' on a Mac, was mind-blowing.

They were mostly computers other people had, my first was a C64.

You had to know you shit back then (as a child). Grown men though with consoles? Extremely funny.

I own all consoles currently "out" now (OLED Switch, Series X, PS5 and PS4) and love all console I own almost equally. My only beef (which i'm not shy in expressing) is the obsession with Gamepass and the fact we are moving down the path of subscription models for gaming. In terms of gaming on each console though, I'm DYING for Forza Horizon 5, Metroid Dread is my game of the year and I had a fucking blast with Ratchet and Clank!

I wanted so desperately to upgrade my gaming PC. Unfortunately the cost to upgrade is just far too high. And even getting a graphics card I want is like lottery.

Yep, money is the only thing stopping me.

I am considering getting a Steam Deck for handheld gaming and breaking in to the PC sphere.
If I could get a Steam Deck legitimately here in Australia, I'd have ordered one already! Unfortunately I don't know when we will be able to order them here.

I seriously considered going the gaming laptop route with a 3070/3080 laptop but the Max Q bullshit confuses me and is a big deterrent for me.

better that we can't discuss important events around the world? i don't agree
tensions were high from a contentious election year, but eventually things would've cooled down

Nah. You had people who registered just to troll that forum. They would make useless replies in the OT just to reach member status for the sole purpose of shitting up that place. It was a cancerous tumor that needed to be removed.

Im a fanboy and haven't been banned

Its pretty easy to pull your head in and not shit post

Though I guess certain posters have an ingrained habit of going into the "rival" consoles topics and stirring things up thinking its just their opinion

If you look at the biggest warriors posts, its literally 95-100% warrior threads. They dont post anywhere else. If there's no pissing contest threads during a stretch of time, they disappear.

I'm seriously getting sick of the console warriors here. Just look at the PlayStation girls/bunnies thread. There are mountains of evidence proving that Bernie Stolar's SCEA in 1995/1996 rejected 2D games on the original PSX but you have three warriors screaming it's all lies and it never happened just to defend a fucking plastic box.

Fine by me. Its been a culling the past year. So many warriors have been permabanned, and lately more temp/perma bans even after admins stickied a console warring warning thread The net result is this forum has been much more fun to post in.

No it's getting better. It's just frustrating when you're trying to have a discussion and it's interrupted by someone acting like this over a plastic box and stuff that company did 25 years ago:
Angry Looney Tunes GIF

The birth of the 32 bit era is a super interesting era in video game history where both Sony and Sega were doing some things a publisher wouldn't ever do now (while Nintendo was doing their own thing as usual), but you can't even bring up stuff like Bernie Stolar's "Five Star" policy and its affect on 2D games and RPGs without someone going to war...over something a quarter of a century old.

That whole topic is born from Sony's current policy regarding sexualization of women after MeToo, which is well documented. I even found an interview with Shu at Sony explaining how DOAX didn't come to the US specifically due to how Sony sees women represented in games in the US versus Japan. That's absolutely relevant to Sony's evolving approval processes for games (which began in 1995 with Stolar's policies) and how they've changed over the years. But even discussing anything like that triggers the warriors to pounce on the thread and shit their pants in rage.

If people go after

Ling Xiaoyu

I will Riot, I mean actually work for them and put her in League of Legends.

Know a dude in a band I followed, went to work for them. Bet he regrets that now.
