Per Sony - Here are the most played games on PS5 since it launched last year
  1. Fortnite
  2. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
  3. FIFA 21
  4. NBA 2K21
  5. Assassin's Creed Valhalla
  6. Destiny 2
  7. MLB The Show 21
  8. Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales
  9. Demon's Souls
  10. NBA 2K22

MM being #8 on play time is actually really impressive for a game you can platinum in like 15 hours. Signals very high sales.

Rest of the list isn't too surprising at all, I dunno why people are reacting as if huge multiplayer games weren't always gonna be the most played thing. Seriously, for hours played what else did you expect...?

I've only played demon souls and elden ring on my PlayStation 5.

All these players could have just kept their ps4/ps4pro consoles and let the next generation crew buy a ps5.

And then they would be playing inferior versions of those games though, right? Exclusives are not the primary reason most people buy consoles.
 
Surprised Miles Morales clocked so many hours on PS5. Was expecting a list mainly by multiplayer games or long games like Ass Creed.

Sucks that they left Genshin out of the count, was curious to see how well it would rank compared to the other popular games. Genshin is my most played game on PS5 with already 375h on.

Um, of course multiplayer games are going to run the table on this. Replayability is intrinsic in MP games.

They should really do a most hours played for SP and MP separately. Things would look more favorable (and more importantly, fair) in that case.

This list make sense I guess. Just because people buy hardware, doesn't mean they'll utilize it fully. I wonder what the list on Xbox would look like without counting game pass.
 
Is this really surprising to anyone? Annualized sports games, COD, Destiny, AC. Games like these are your drivers on console. Always have been.
 
Why is MM surprising? Shouldn't that also include base Spiderman?

Thank you. This came up in the another thread too. The great majority of games on my PS5 were released on PS4 and have received an update. It's crazy we don't have this argument when people but video cards and just play their old games.

Sony right now today is 1 or two exclusives away from being in late PS3, PS4 domination numbers since the launch nobody can get a PS5. The door is open for Sony to win the generation, exclusives take time to make.
 
I'm not that shocked to see Demon's Souls there even with the lower sales numbers just because you can sink hundreds of hours into that game if you get really into it.

Miles Morales is impressive for the opposite reason, relatively short in length but sold so many copies that it placed high on this list.
 
So sad to see demons souls so low...1.4 million copies is trash numbers. Game is just so good. Too many casual pussies out there. Fortnite number 1, fuck that.
 
Really surprised by Demons Souls considering it is fairly hardcore and relatively short. I didn't play any MP (not a Plus subscriber) but is MP active in it?

DeS is a type of game where the people who stick with it play it for a lot of hours. I'm not surprised tbh.

I beat Demon's Souls twice and I bet you I probably couldn't win a round of solo Fortnite in that time.
 
Super weird they say Genshin doesn't have a PS5 sku when the PS5 lists it as a PS5 native app on the Home Screen.

True but I found it noticeably shorter than other Souls games, finished it in 18 hours without being particularly competent.

I guess it has replayability with the world tendencies though.
 
Yeah, that was what i expected for the most userbase PlayStation and XBOX to play on the system.

First party games aren't the main reason to get the consoles but 3rd party games are the primary driver for that.

None of these games would be here if Apex, Minecraft and Warzone were counted.

Not sure whats going on with Genshin, Maybe its not that popular but it made a boat load of money recently.
