Breaking: Microsoft to acquire Activision-Blizzard in near 70$ billion deal

Spyro 4 and Crash 5 might not only get made but be Xbox exclusives.

Yeah if COD goes exclusive then this is a massive blow to Sony. Even if it isn't exclusive the fact that each new entry will launch on Game Pass is enough to push people to Xbox

What in the holy name of fuck. As a Game Pass user I'm happy I don't have to buy Diablo 4 anymore, but I don't like one company owning everything.

Realtalk:

1. This might run into big regulatory problems. Huge consolidation that could run afoul of anti-trust laws.

2. But if it does go through, and COD goes exclusive, very hard to see how Sony competes.

I don't understand what's so hard to understand about this they can't fire him till the deal closes in 2023. It's not final yet he obviously won't be once they're are officially Microsoft's.
Please don't use reason, facts or logic in a Gaming news thread :)

The next time they hold an actual E3, Microsoft's presentation is just going to be a simple black bedside table with a light shining down on it, some dominos laid out. Phil Spencer will walk out to it, slam his domino through the table, it erupting into shards, and walk back off stage.

what the.. don't like this one, overpriced acquisition that could have been spent on much better studios... at least that won't be a big loss for PS lol

2 Years ago "Lol Microsoft are dead, xbox is a terrible brand with no games"

Microsoft: No Games you say? Hold my Acquisitions
"call of duty won't be exclusive to Xbox, right?"

as we have found out now MS didn't buy Zenimax to release games like Starfield/ESVI on Playstation. They are gonna be Xbox exclusives.

you want to play Call of Duty? Better buy an Xbox or build a PC.

Doubtfull but very anticonsumer move if happens

The americans xbox have more money compared to sony and nintendo

Cant deny that

I cant understand how people are happy about this...
This is actually the beginning of the end

I bet we'll see more consolidations and mergers. Take Two and EA merging in order not to be gobbled up by MS? Sony is in a pickle too. Losing CoD in Q4 is going to hurt a lot.

I saw this on YouTube with podcasts saying BREAKING NEW MICROSOFT S BUYING ACTIVISION BLIZZARD FOR 70 BILLION. Had to come onto gaf to see if I was confused since I ain't have my coffee yet. Jesus Christ, console wars are over my friends, it's been fun.

I think he's out it's a matter of time, it's politics they're giving him a '' graceful exit '' so to speak.
It looks way worse ( for him ) if they just kick him out immediately there's probably some kind of a deal where he'll stay for a couple of months then leave '' on his own ''.

It's probably pretty impractical too for him to just leave right away this stuff takes time.
The deal isn't going to be done until next year. He will be out when that happens.

Whoa. I guess now was a good time to sell.

Microsoft owning WoW, CoD, and Diablo. Fucking madness. This is probably the biggest gaming news of the past five or so years right?

Edit: Ohhh my God Master Chief in Overwatch! The Starcraft guy in Overwatch. Fucking Arthas in Overwatch! I'd actually play Overwatch again for that.

OK I am geeking out at the possibilities
or a New Killer Instinct with all this new Characters

I can see how this is huge, but I don't personally care about Activision games, so it doesn't really impact me. But tough times for Sony loyalists.

As someone else mentioned a page or two ago the only silver lining about this entire thing is that hopefully we'll see CoD (and other properties) back on Steam again.

Would love to own all of CoD on Steam (especially as that usually means a ton of Steamworks features we now take for granted).

Wtf..?!
Is this real?
Well it is Wednesday in New Zealand, but this is not the news/announcement I expected.. This is huge in terms of shaking the gaming industry IMO.
Now MS owns (or will own) Bethesda and Activision Blizzard...
Doesnt feel true/right.
