To learn for fun ?? Probably a sword a samurai sword in centuries past people devoted their whole lives to mastering the blade definitely would’ve been a sight to see the epic sword fights that took place I’d imagine speed is more important than brute strength and a smaller quicker guy would be able to come out on top against a much larger slower opponent

When I was a child/teenager/last week I used to have play sword fights using sticks with my friends. Sometimes we'd find the brittle hollow discount bamboo ones and have contact matches.
Because of this, I choose sword, because there's .5% less of a chance that I'll be instantly slaughtered versus the other two options

I like that OP asks why while giving absolutely no context whatsoever for the choice. Did the poll it was shamelessly stolen from give a little more than you did, OP?
If it's long term post-apocalyptic survival, a sword is perhaps the option that makes most sense because it's sharp and has no ammo dependency.
If it'a fun and/or in a context where ammo isn't an issue, bow is a personal favourite.
Staff is a blunt 2H melee weapon, so it's a +/- comparison to the sword.

I’d have to pick sword, as I did Kendo many years ago, and probably would remember bits and pieces of it. Though, a staff can be super effective due to its long range.
