They are an independent subsidiary under SIE. Its not as clear cut as you are making it out to be, contractual terms around autonomy and control can have a dramatic effect on these things. Bungie in no uncertain terms stated that they retain a lot of control and independence around management decisions, development and publishing.

First of all no one said that. Secondly they won't make games exclusive because they make more money being on more platforms (which I already said in one of my comments). And also because phil doesn't give a shit about the money, they just want exclusive games to bring them to their platform which is 3rd in popularity. They are being treated like naughty dog . These guys can do whatever they want. Sony won't tell them anything because Sony knows whatever they make will sell. So they give them the independence of development and choice
Bungie here isn't any different. They are independent and they can develop anything they want… but it's still under Sony. As long as the game is GaaS, they have the freedom ( and they should ) release it on any console. It's GaaS. But the minute it's let's say a single player game ? It's ps5 exclusive unless Sony says otherwise .

Well yeah bungie is kinda the first of that kind as far as I know.
Regarding the studio decisions, I think that ultimately its up to sony to decide if they allow a game on other platforms or not.
For instance MLB the show is on all platforms (PS, Xbox, Switch) but the big sony games like TLOU or God of War are usually exclusively on playstation consoles and recently they started coming to PC after a couple of years. The plan with bungie is to remain multiplatform but that doesn't mean that in the future they can't change that.
Also I think the oldschool bungie folks like Pete Parsons and Jason Jones will retire in a couple of years, hence why they sold the company to sony.
They probably have one more big game under their belts who knows.
