Scam Citizen passes half a billion dollars and still no launch.

are in a big trouble
So I know discussing this game causing a bit of controversy with people but half a billion dollars and still it hasn't really been launched.

The question now is. Which will launch first half life 3 or this 🤣

Who cares, I hope those poor bastards keep funding it. Maybe we'll get a treat one day or a total collapse, either way it'll be hilarious. Clearly some folks love Star Citizen, right? right?

That link is to a Neowin(of all shitholes) article called

Are you drunk OP?

Star Citizen is hilarious, as I've said every time I can't wait to see the documentary about where all the money has gone, I'm sure there are cars and whores, mounds of drugs and other insane shit.
The documentary will be a stretch goal

Forget crowdfunding think this is clownfunding, whoever donated should be getting a rainbow wig & a nose in the post any day now.

Did you not know OP? We ARE in the game already! Yes, friends, this is the game, the reality itself, THE UNIVERSE itself, they were right, no PC can run it, it runs the PCs, you have the entire universe to explore at the maximum realism possible, we just have to get able to do so, it is as real as life itself because that's what it is, all those dreamers backed the laundr-- I mean, the project just for us to realize its greatness, isn't it? Now go get excited by this enlightenment you too

I love that the new "features" they add and boast about are hardly in a working state from what I've seen too. I have no idea how people keep funding this, or why they would. It's such a scam at this point. Hell, it's been for a long while.

I remember a thread from years back with guys defending sinking thousands into great big ships (that arent usable in game yet) and saying its not pay to win

and just defending their general idiocy

how aren't they sued for fraud yet?

I think it's that as long as you can show the game is in active development (Even if it's just a guy in the back room coding on a Commodore 64) then there's no fraud going on (Technically).

They obviously saw Zoe Quinns game development crowdfunding and non delivery and said hold my beer.

I'm a Kickstarter backer who has become seriously disillusioned with the game. Progress is definitely being made. The systems in place are fun. Dogfighting or doing missions with friends are immersive and fun. The issue I have is bloat. Star citizen has two systems with multiple planets. Each planet has several moons. The space in between is littered with Lagrange stations and astroid fields. It's a world of unprecedented scale where every piece of it can be visited that caps the number of players around 100.

The game is absolutely dead in the water if it can't solve player counts and concurrency. The world is big enough that you could theoretically never see anybody else on a full server. The planets and moons are so massive that players will never overlap over claims. It's just too big. Star Citizen would be so much better if it limited the game to one planet and it's moons. The map would still be enormous while simplifying the problem of people playing together. RSI instead doubles down by adding more more more. I lost faith after RSI produced a guidebook for learning space Chinese so that I could speak to the space turtles.

From someone who has been following the development on this game, its still years away. So yeah the game will keep triggering many of you for a long time yet.

This is the game that actually needs a leak and some real investigative journalism, not shit like GTA6.
Wasn't there a S42 leak years back that revealed a whole lot of stuff that has yet to be revealed? I never looked at it as I didn't want to be spoiled but I remember there was this huge cap ship way larger than the Bengal that was being kept under wraps just for the campaign

The tech got old and they have no way to fill the world with enough players to take advantage of what they built. It has crumbled under the weight of its ambition.

I do think someday star citizen will make their spaceships tradable nfts and the pricetag for the spaceships could easily skyrocket from now. not a bad speculative investment.

I don't know what a leak would give you as they release playable alpha builds.

The only thing that would be interesting to me would be the financials. What money has gone where and how much has Chris and his wife and his brother taken for themselves.

You'd have to be an idiot to continue funding this. As the saying goes, a fool and his money are soon parted.

Here's a funny thing, squadon 42 was supposedly almost done in i think 2016. Now though they need to build a new mocap studio to complete it(the project is always "insert something here" away). Really Chris roberts is collecting capital to liquidate after this goes tits up.

Who the fuck is going to want to play a game like Wing Commander Privateer or even Elite Dangerous for that matter and be limited to a SINGLE planet and it's moons. Chris Roberts never intended people to be finding each other that often in the game anyway, original claims were that the game was going to be 90% NPC's and probably 10% players that you would likely come across during an average play session which was stated in a Ten for the Chairman but as we all know that is probably unicorn shit at this point now that we are getting significantly less systems at launch.

The surface area of Hurston is around 25 million square kilometers. Australia's territory only adds up to around 8 million square kilometers. A "SINGLE" planet alone is more than large enough to never see another player much less a planet as big as Hurston with 4 moons and other orbital structures. I don't think you grasp how big a single planet's scale can be.

Random people playing together and this game is a joke at the moment. Not because of the size but because there are very few in game-systems to prevent or de-incentivize degenerate behavior. Beyond the degenerate behavior, multi-crew is a joke and a colossal pain in the ass to orchestrate in-between servers crashing, getting dumped into full servers preventing friends from joining and the general buggy state of the game. This will not always be like this and there is still fun to be had but shrinking and restricting play area for the sake of seeing more people at any given time isn't going to help.

You have to waste time in prison for the smallest of transgressions. The real problem is that there is nothing to do. Trading is static. Mining is static. Everything is functionally a proof of concept. Many of the issues with performance stem from the scale of the PU. A smaller PU with scaled down travel speeds still provides a massive space to play and a significantly smaller footprint to work on performance issues. I would rather the PU be smaller and the actual game to get better than to play on more empty and dead procedural generated worlds. I have already been able to play Elite Dangerous for years when I want to muck around on empty planets.

People go to prison they just reset their account, log out, or do something else while the time counts down. Not much of a deterrent for most and will certainly not stop any autist hell bent on being a troll.

Yea the rest of the game is pretty boring after you've been there done that. A smaller PU is not going to help the tier 0 gameplay we have right now, infact it would make it boring AF since we've basically been rotting in Stanton for years now doing the same mundane stuff with some welcomed scraps of new things to do every once awhile excluding the same stupid events like Xenothreat that is basically ad-nauseum at this point. Really though, how much more can we polish that turd, it's time to expand, move on and see something new BUT that is all being held back because the damn backbone/foundation of the game to support that isn't complete.

I do agree that travel speeds should be shortened in general to combat the amount of server instability issues as half my gameplay time is spent waiting in QT which is fine if I got a big ship with an interior but chilling in a single seater with no interior is kinda wank and I have better things to do with my time which ends up alt-tasking into a internet browser, taking a dump or cleaning my office space.

It's just a lost cause at the moment but I feel 3.18 - 4.0 will be some good times ahead. I'll stay optimistic for now.
