Calling it now. Someone will buy out CDPR.

The Cyberpunk fiasco literally tanked their stock from like $36 to sub $5... right now they're on an upswing but due to the low value of the company this would be the ideal time for one of the big boys to swoop in and make a purchase. I would be shocked if there are not talks happening with both MS and Sony to see who can secure them.

My bet is Sony comes in with the high bid in response to some of the heavier hitters that MS has aquired, to date Sony seems to go for the smaller studios with lower values.

What do you guys think? Possible ... or am I as foolish as that Pachter clown at this point?

They wouldn't sell - the CEO is too confident they'll recover and wouldn't take a $5 share buyout. It would have to be a hostile takeover and that's not really good for morale and would be blocked by the other big player.

CDPR with Sony first party quality control/polish would be a good combo.

They could even use Decima engine for the next Witcher game.

Edit : Netflix could be a candidate too, because of the series/movies synergy.

No they wont

Even after the Cyberpunk fiasco their shares still have a good price (that will explode once Witcher 4 is revealed), they are expanding with more studios and devs, they've shown a roadmap for the next years ...

They are in a great position to just keep doing what they are doing

id buy that for a dollar GIF

No but seriously, maybe. At the same time, these guys went from Eastern European hackers making copies of games to the status they have now, stock plummeting seems like an easy thing to climb back with a few positive news, already the Netflix series and the spike in Cyberpunk 2077 players should make them very expensive (beyond stock market value, they're probably shorted to hell and back by hedge funds).

CDPR would be a good get for anyone but I think it may be tough to get them to sell after the company had outlined their ambitious plans. If CDPR makes good on their promises, they may end up worth 2-3 times more in the coming years.
Shareholders may be willing to wait it out.....unless they are given an offer they cannot refuse.

Market cap is currently ~$2.4B
Someone would probably have to offer at least $4.5B imo.....

Whoever tries to get them, I hope they are given independence.

I hope they don't have to sell out. Sony would be a bad fit for them as they are a primary PC developer and run a PC non drm game store, I also think Sony would interfere with their content in a bad way with censoring
.
Microsoft would be far better but I appreciate the independent streak CD Project red has and am hopeful they do not need to sell.

I agree it makes sense.
Could go either way, sony or ms, or maybe one of the china corpos.

I don't see it given their past comments but that could be just be me more saying that because I don't want it to happen.

That is because today the correct should be M$$$$$. In 2002 was M$.
Yet MS talks crap like this when trying to justify the Activision aquisition:
"Even post-this acquisition, we will be number three with sort of low teens [market] share," Nadella explained, confirming that even after spending $68.7 billion on Activision Blizzard, Sony and Tencent will still be the biggest companies within the games industry."

Sony will buy it and also cry about Microsoft making acquisitions.
Probably Wednesday

I would take a CDPR roadmap with a grain of salt personally...

Not hard to see, their next game is still roughly at least 3 years off. I doubt extremely discounted sales of witcher 3 and cyberpunk 2077 are gonna carry them through the production of 4+ AAA games.

Possible candidates are embracer, warner bros, tencent (of course), netflix, and I do believe sony will make an offer due to their GOG storefront and mobile dev.

Not happening. They're an independent PC focused developer, I can't see them ever being bought by big companies looking to push consoles.

That being said, Microsoft buying Bethesda is kinda the same to me and I never would have seen that coming so.....maybe I'm wrong man. Shit. I dunno.

Don't believe so. Another year and they will be right back to pre cyberpunk release.

But if they do, no Microsoft.

Thats exactly why Sony would be perfect, GOG could become a dedicated Playstation PC platform which falls well in line with their current PC push.
Censoring I doubt, GoW has had nudity etc and violence and swearing are a non issue.
There isnt any downside, Sony would gain some really quality franchises and a storefront with existing contracts for many games they currently have no ties to, it would be a good move.

Actually GOW 2018's gore and nudity severely toned down compare to pervious, majority of enemies this lava as blood. Cyberpunk 2077 in other has full on nudity and sex and violence.

Nah. Now it's too late to buy them.

They redeemed themselves and now have 5 projects in development.

Perfect time to buy CDPR was last year around june

CDPR love their triple A third person story driven narratives, and even first person now, and now they're venturing into multiplayer.

It's only a matter of time until the Sony acquisition is announced.
