AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX & XT

Today, AMD announced its first Radeon RX 7000 desktop cards, starting with the high-end 7900 series.

  • Full Ray Tracing Support
  • 1.7x times better than 6950 XT
  • Multiple Games with FSR support at launch

AMD Radeon RX 7900 series

The third generation RDNA architecture is finally here. The company introduces Radeon RX 7900 XTX and Radeon RX 7900 XT graphics cards. The first features full Navi 31 GPU with 12288 Stream Processors, while the latter is based on a cut-down GPU with 10752 cores.

AMD RDNA3 architecture based on 5nm node is the first chiplet design for consumer Radeon GPUs. The GPU features one compute tile made in 5nm process with six memory chiplets made with 6nm node.

AMD confirm Navi 31 GPU has 58 billion transistors, and it offers up to 61 TFLOPs of single-precision compute performance. This GPU has 5.3 TB/s chiplet interconnect. With 5nm node, Navi 31 GPU has 165% higher transistor density compared to Navi 2X.

Alright, how does this look like against 4090? Or even 4080?

Nvidia needs to drop the price of the 4080. The 7900 XT / XTX is a much more compelling value proposition thanks to pricing.

What the hell is "Game clock"? The maximum amount the card will overclock by itself?

Anyway. Nice for people who wants this. Im waiting for the 7600 XT myself.

ah well - now the wait for the benchmarks vs 4080/4090... maybe by that time NVIDIA will address the melted adapter issue.
Raster performance is slightly slower than 4090 at a much cheaper price. Seems like a win to me.

Based on the 1.7x performance uplift versus 6950 XT:

Cyberpunk 2077
66 fps - 7900 XTX
71 fps - RTX 4090

You'll be disappointed.

The prices are good compared to competition it's the performance that will do the talking. Even if Nvidia is faster the price talks a lot.

Agreed - and I can buy a shiny new upgraded monitor as well for the price difference between the 7900 XTX vs 4090.

Glad to know AMD hasn't lost their fucking minds with prices. Not up to par with the 4090 but at $999, it doesn't need to be.

The average joe isn't left behind.

Can anyone confirm the resolution and settings of their Cyberpunk fps? With FSR?

And it will be even more interesting to see when DLSS 3.0 drops for Cyberpunk since I get almost triple the performance from DLSS 2 -> 3.0 I'm Plague Tale Requiem.

COPY PASTE from the rumor thread:

$999 XTX OMFG!!!!!! :messenger_face_screaming:

I WAS gonna get the XT, but F THAT!. Imma get that XTX as soon as it goes on sale!

Assuming I order in time.

For those interested, the main advancements were also announced:

FSR 2.2 - An improved version of FSR 2.1 with even less ghosting and artifacts and better performance
FSR 3.0 Motion - This is basically DLSS3, AI Generated Motion Frames to increase framerate
Rapid RX - AMD's answer to Nvidia Reflex, an option to reduce controller latency and response.

Why bother buying, or even offering, the XT? A $100 price difference when you're spending $900+ is not substantial.

RIP all the people who paid $1600 for a card with no displayport 2.1 and beta-testing the new power connector
AMD is baaaaaack

1.4 - 1.7x performance up lift isnt that great. Rumors were 2x performance uplift.

And those cards will not be $899-999. Good luck getting them for anything under $1,500.

How is the ray tracing performance?

Unless the real world benchmarks throw up any nasty surprises I'll be going for the XTX. The new hardware encoder stuff sounds promising for VR as well so hopefully it carries through.

Imagine Nvidia were still trying to sell the 12GB 4080 for $899.

AMD AIB cards won't be any more over msrp than Nvidia AIB cards over msrp
