I dont even care about JK or Harry Potter at all. I think I've watched a grand total of 5 minutes of the movies if I was skimming movie channels and it so happens it was on.

I pre-ordered it as well. I have good memories on Harry Potter. I don't agree with assessment of ERA, while I do believe that Rowling is old hag, who don't really know what to do, so she is doing stupid twitter crusades and done some very dumb interviews, for example Russians trolled her into believing that she is calling with Zelensky on march, she has like zero awareness.
But she wrote some good books, with certain questionable characters.

Eh. Trans issues, particularly trans women issues, aren't a big issue for me because they don't affect me, so I don't follow that line of news closely. So perhaps I missed something. That said, what I have seen come from Rowling - be it tweets or things spoken in interview-ish situations - she expressed mild, unsensational opinions. Such as a belief that competitive female sports should be exclusive to biological women, or that trans women shouldn't be inserting themselves into broad social and health-related discussions directly affecting women ahead of biological women. And the big one that seems to have angered many: that it should be OK for biological women to acknowledge that there is difference between themselves and trans women (that was the opinion that seemed to spark this entire drama).
I wouldn't personally consider such a woman a TERF. I think that slur is thrown around too often without justification. I've never seen her express any opinions that could be considered radically feminist (or even overtly feminist for that matter). Have you? I have however seen her admit that she studied the topic closely out of interest, and has expressed support for transgender people.
Beyond that, the entire ancillary debate occupies no space in my mind, so I typically ignore it when it comes to discussion of the game. I'd suggest more do the same. At the end of the day it's merely a fantasy video game in which one role plays as a child in a wizarding school. It's not a big deal and I think people devoting so much effort to it is weird. Leave the overreactions and sensationalism to places like RE. Just my opinion.

Who cares what JKR thinks about biological science the books are good and as far as I know all she said was something to the effect that there are biological differences which is science. Not using someone’s preferred pronouns if you’re made aware of them is a dick move and I will call anyone a woman who wants to be called a woman but it doesn’t change biology.

The ironic thing is that the overwhelming majority trans people are originally entitled white males or females that want to transition to being entitled white males when I thought the entire point of being woke was to give a voice to disadvantaged mintorities and biological women.
