Graphical Fidelity I Expect This Gen

And some people think that ff16 looks on par or better than this:messenger_tears_of_joy:

I like the look of it, but look at that foliage, it's 100% static.

You Don't even need to go that far my dear Drusilla, the fucking main protagonist is less detailed than a throw away npc with one single short line in horizon...

Looks incredible, the offroad demo looked like how i want FH6 or UC5 to look like.

Graphically this is seriously lacking for a "next gen game". Dishonored 2 looked really good in 2016 when it came out but it seems like they're another studio thats just stopped trying to improve visuals.
I swear I wasn't sure if this was a next-gen only game or not cuz they all look the same to me today, next-gen only and cross-gen games. But either ways it looks like a bootleg Fornite. When you order Fortnite off of Alibaba!

The truck demo is seriously mind blowing stuff. Sucks that it is running on a 4090 and 13900k. That's like what 3-5x more powerful than the ps5?

God i love the physics on the suspension of the truck. Just imagine that in an off-road racer like motorstorm.

lords of the fallen 2 looks impressive. On par with demon souls technically but the art direction holds it back a bit. Just a bit.

Crazy to think that a small b studio like that can achieve those levels of visuals in UE5 and ship in 2023 while all these AAA studios like rocksteady, luminous studios and respawn stuck with last Gen engines and phoned in the visuals.

Looks Project M looks so good no one bought that it was real-time. I bet its just another Chinese or South Korean fake demo we will never see released.

That said if it was real-time omg

Oh my god they literally just captured some facial animations from the hellbade actress on stage and then in less than 3 minutes, their new meta human character animator automatically processed everything and rendered it out on her character model inside the engine. Something she said took several months. And it looked insane. Captured 90% of her real-time performance without any animator input.

Absolutely insane how fast it is to make games now.

INSANE HOW QUICK THEY CAN CREATE A CHARACTER MODEL HOLY HELL
Dude Meta human has been around for two years now. It's been this easy to create models for a while now.

What this does is capture and animate facial data without the need of artists and animators. They literally did it with a phone lol. Anyone can create movies inside unreal engine now.

Project M looks so freakin' good. I really hope it aint one of those Korean demos that never see the light of day. I am loving this State of Unreal. Will re-watch the whole thing again once it is done as I missed out on a lotta goodies.

Oh my god. That fortnite demo made by two guys looks better than any next Gen game released so far lmao. Cant wait to download it.

Gotta love epic just showing up these so called AAA developers. Fucking fortnite level editors are better than the RE, Ff16, Star Wars and suicide squad engines.

And some people dislike the idea of something like Unreal being so ubiquitous. This is what it's all about, game development needs to enter the stage where the tools are standardized just like they are in movies.

Yeah they don't seem to recognise the trade offs. Yes, there'll be less variety, but also MUCH better quality.

It's how specialisation works.

It really depends on the limited flexibility of what you're standardizing. I would love for this tech to be used for NPCs. Main characters? Absolutely not.

Tools for making games are becoming so flexible and easy that in future we could probably see a group of college students creating short games that revival quality of AAA games today. This process will be probably be further accelerated by AI integration into game engines.

Im all for specialization but its clear that these first parties with their specialized tools like Decima and ND and SSM's engines are not able to keep up with what Epic has been doing. I keep bringing up HFW and GOW Ragnorak and how they took 4.5-5 years to make what are essentially straight sequels with little to no new innovations, gameplay enhancements or simulations thrown in. Why did they take so long to make? Had they invested in these technologies like Epic has been doing for the last 5 years, they wouldve been able to get these games out much faster in the long run.

I love GoT, TLOU2, GOW, DS and HZD, but I also want these legendary AAA devs to actually innovate and get us next gen stuff, and if they are being held back by their engineering teams who simply cant introduce these new fluid simulations, nanite, lumens and chaos physics for the developers and artists in time then let's go ahead and get on UE5.

That said, I see that Epic has increased their fee for 5% to 12% of overall revenue so yeah, i think some publishers would balk at that high price and we will continue to see devs use their internal engines and tools.

I downloaded the fortnite editor to play the Mech demo but UE5 keeps crashing every time i boot it up. anyone here have any luck? I want to see this demo in 4k.
