Ghostwire tokyo on xbox series x and s VS ps5 DF

It's like 1 bad news after the other with these guys. How the Fuck a1 year later port, owned by MS. and still worse on their system over a PS5 ??

Yeah, it's not like the studio was working on this port all year and not developing another game they put out at the end of January .. wait.. :messenger_winking:

It's surprising that they don't pay attention to quality in their own game. In addition, 1 year after the release and it still runs poorly.
 
As usual some games are better on PS5 while others are better on XSX. For comparison Deathloop ran better on XSX.
The differentiating aspect here is that it is a Studio that is now a first party and it would have been logical that the XSeries version would have received special attention. That is to say, the logical thing was to expect a result like that of Deathloop which, as you say, is better in XSX.

This is increasing the feeling that MS is in a moment of total neglect with respect to what XSeries consoles is concerned. It is not understandable that MS does not worry about avoiding compromising situations and that they become even more evident after Redfall.
 
Looks like PS ports don't port well to Xbox.

Nah, Deathloop runs 5 to 30 FPS better on SX compared to PS5 in different modes.

That said, XSX has the advantage in Quality Mode, where it often pulls ahead of PS5 by 5 to 15fps. This advantage is even greater in the 120fps Ultra Performance mode, where the Xbox Series X can sometimes lead by as much as 30fps


Tango are a 1 project studio and they were working on Hi-Fi Rush through 2022, this was probably farmed off to a small group. Or a very quick port.

I just don't understand what the fuck is going on over at Microsoft. There should never be any circumstance where their own 1st party title runs significantly worse on their platform vs their direct competitor. Zero excuse for this.

You know damn well there's no excuse for this. The game had performance issues on the PS5 which got (mostly) sorted so to launch the game in a worse state on the Xbox Series, after a year of feedback from PS5 players is unacceptable and a very valid point of discussion. Especially since XSX getting worse performance despite being the more powerful system (on paper, at least) is becoming a common occurrence.
 
And these guys have a cheek to ask their government to investigate why Playstation is the more popular console.

Everything they do reeks of incompetence. This is exactly why anyone who actually cares about the industry as a whole doesn't want them buying up studios/publishers. Their standards are in the gutter.

Under no circumstances should this be released like it has been.

Sony probably paid tango gameworks to make it worse on purpose for Xbox.

They picked some worse performing areas there, but the opening level side by sides don't look that different. Seems to be some hitches in the Xbox version which they've chosen to highlight specifically. The 60fps mode is still like 99% 60fps in most of what is posted online. Unless there are a lot of people with broken frame counters, which is possible. Even the XSS is in the very high 50s in the majority of the game, but they play it out as if it is in the 40s there. 🤷‍♂️

They get clicks from focusing on the 1% and the .01% while ignoring the other 99% completely. It is what it is.

Lemme just add how hilarious it is that Alex is clearly taking this way too hard. The other day he was crying on B3D about devs not spending time with XSX versions and now it's a first party game releasing a year later.

If nothing else Tango should be praised for that alone.

The person you linked was banned for faking fps readings and being full of shit in the past, multiple times. They use trdrop, wouldn't surprise me if most of these channels do.

They were working on Hi-Fi rush since 2018.

Pitched 2017, began proto-typing in 2018, not clear on when production was in full way but Tango is a ~100 employee studio so it's a safe bet they were mostly focused on putting out Ghostwire first.

Reading through some comments. There could be many reasons why this happened. But I honestly don't believe that Sony paid Microsoft to do this. That's just crazy.

It could be possible the devs ran into some issues on Xbox. What those issues are I'm not really sure. Anyways this can always improve in the future and I won't be surprised if it does.
 
The worrying thing about situations like this for XSeries users is the message... If MS itself doesn't care that its firstparty studies optimize for its console... How are they going to ask third parties to do it?

I don't know if they realize the effects that situations like this can cause. Parts of the basis that PS5 is going to be the base development platform on many occasions and also the priority version for the Thirds as it is the platform with the most users. Cases like this only make the situation worse with regard to the optimization of the XSeries versions.

Almost every review shows the majority of the game being locked at 60 on XSX and 50ish for the XSS. There are performance dips, but the majority is much higher. If you just focus on the bad areas you can create any narrative you want. As is always the case. Quick camera pans definitely cause the XSS to struggle though.

I assume the Spider's Thread update took time to develop. That update was on PlayStation as well so it was hardly a year of working solely on the Xbox version of the game. Interestingly enough this could have been exclusive Xbox content yet still PlayStation was supported.
