For sony yes that is true.

How one participant gaming service is structured != cloud gaming is not a seperate market.
So Sony believes it, Microsoft believes it, lets assume Nintendo believes it aswell. And Nvidia believes it

What exactly is the opposition then? Everyone in gaming is wrong and the CMA knows more than these companies? Lmao be serious

How about nobody gets acquired and nobody gets hurt?

I mean we were all doing fine before these acquisition wars kicked off.
sue makes stuff GIF

Or Microsoft's money lol

Dreamcast didn't get the games PS2 got.
Was it a different market?

But whatever.. I'm not going to go into the weeds about this.

Agree to disagree.
We can disagree but the only reason Dreamcast didn't get a lot of games that xbox and PS2 got was mainly due to install base. Could the same be said about Switch not getting these games based on install base?

By this definition that performance is irrelevant to market segment would mobile be considered directly competing with console? Why does this not apply to a dedicated device with a mobile SoC? Indirect competition maybe but the demographic is different and so is direct competition.

Dreamcast also had the stink of 32X and Saturn to work with, so MANY 3P devs/pubs held off on bigger games until they could know for sure the Dreamcast was going to be a success. That's the reason companies like Namco only did Soul Calibur and some cheap compilations, for example. Sega messed up a ton of their big 3P relationships between the 32X and Saturn; a decent amount of missing 3P in the first couple years especially among bigger Japanese 3P (and even some Western 3P like EA) were the consequences of that.

But the user you're replying to is probably trying to boil it all down to an insinuation of "Sony paid 3P to stay off Dreamcast!" and nothing else. They either don't know any better or are being willingly dumb.

FTCs own economist that they hired has said that CoD is NOT essential.

I imagine as an economist trying to claim something that is a small fraction of revenue is "essential" would be pretty bad for their reputation.

Not that this testimony in general is great for his, but evading questions is better than answering them completely untruthfully.

FTC Expert: " I am not very familiar with CoD...."

💀💀
Did he really?

I'm not listening in, but if he did really say cod isn't essential then that won't hold much water if it's not very familiar with it, or maybe he just knows the numbers.

He said that if MS had COD exclusive to Gen 8 their market share would increase 8.9%, imo thats a massive shift

Add no marketing deals, no exclusive content, no timed exlusive content, no 3rd party timed exclusives, no 3rd party exclusives and no exclusive games from movie or book franchises and we have a deal.
