lol shes completely delusional. MORE? does she really believe cod can run on a switch? i tried downloading Black Ops Cold War on PS+ last night and it required 312GB of space minimum. And thats just the space. good luck getting it to run even at 30 fps on a PS3 era hardware.

They already said in the hearings that the Nintendo versions will be tailored to the hardware, no one is realistically expecting them to plant the PS5 version straight to Switch.

And if she's talking about the cloud, nothing was preventing MS from signing activision to a cloud contract. You dont have to buy a company for $70 billion to get their games on the cloud. 99% of the content on the cloud is third party.
Yeah, these are just Microsoft's talking points.

The court already revealed that (1) Nintendo can't run COD, (2) Microsoft didn't even inform or consult Activision before making that commitment, and (3) Activision wants to bring COD to Nintendo on its own; they are just waiting for Switch 2.

I'd rather nobody buy's anybody else.

After this regulatory shit-show I'd like to think all the majory players will think twice before attempting to purchase another large publisher, but who am I kidding?
bullshit , the FTC has proven it is useless(again)
free for all now

I find it hard to believe that you honestly believe that with everything that's come out about the truth with Microsoft's handling of Bethesda

at least it wasn't while they were gone

but the Bethesda deal did?
There doesn't seem to any big change to all the Bethesda and Minecraft games on PS. If Ms wanted to, they could had stopped all the games and with the money they have even break contracts and pay them out. You still even got Bethesda games going on PS sub plans lately.

As for all the future games past any marketing deals, nobody exactly knows what will happen. All we know is what past history has shown and right now Ms hasn't pulled anything.

Also, nothing stops Ms from releasing on PS but making it a timed exclusive too. So it'll come out for PS. Just 6 months later

Please not revenge fanfic from Sony side:messenger_tears_of_joy:
Not revenge but always the plan I hate it as much as I hate this, but I always believed that this major consolidation was wanted by both MS and Sony. Sony being the market leader just needed a reason to regulators to spend big unchecked. if this deal goes through this will be thier reason. And they are openly against sharing. It's a lose lose.

Not surprised the US of A sucks when it comes to fighting big corps oh well I blame it more on gamers for supporting consolidation in the name of "gamepass" I think it's more shocking to not see pushback from the games media there's pretty much no debate on the ramifications of consolidation it's lazy journalism
That's because most game "journalists" are shills for one or another company. I remember when a particular game got released on PS3/360 and there were ads for it all over review sites, and one of them fired the reviewer for honestly panning the game. It revealed some of the corruption that goes on with game journalism.

I very much doubt it.

Only the other day a major Water company in the UK - nearly went bust after years of doing things wrong - and the Water regulator was the first people called out for failing to regulate them properly by MPs and news outlets.

The CMA has just expanded with an extra 250 staff in Manchester IIRC from the select committee meeting with the Head of the CMA just a month or so back. By the time the CMA have fined Microsoft for closing over them, they'll be opening offices in Glasgow and Swansea, Wrexham or Cardiff too IMO.
MS isn't just any company. They've been playing the angle from the start. It will happen, trust.

the judge is just parroting Microsoft's PR with that :messenger_neutral: it's amazing really, they could have honestly written the decision for her with how some of it reads

PHEW!!!

One major never ending news cycle completed! Congrats MS.

It has always been fascination of mine what MS will do with OLD IP, should the deal be approved. Now that it is…let's see.

Guitar Hero, Kings Quest, Space Quest, StarCraft, TENCHU!, Hexen, Gun, True Crime, QUEST FOR GLORY!, WARCRAFT!, Tony Hawk all are there.

MS is not hurting for IP ideas anymore.

Tomorrow or Thursday can we get resolution to the Ongoing Switch 2 rumors? Nintendo help us out. We can all go on and enjoy the rest of our summer. Thanks.

This isn't a good deal at all for gamers in my opinion as someone who owns the both systems I am going to be fine.

Microsoft will eventually reduce the content over the next 10 years or more on Playstation. For those that say Sony will still get Call of Duty in one form? The eventually product exclusive moans modes on Xbox exclusive weapons characters and etc this will slowly. All sudden no one cares about timed exclusives or exclusive content.

They will do this across all Activision games within the next 10 years. The fact that could not answer about Elder Scrolls 6 sure shows you the plan they have the Netflix of gaming has just begun
Those things have always been in COD anyway

The future of gaming is "You will own nothing, and you will be happy"

This is the future of the world in general. Your life will be rented.

Make no mistake, Microsoft wants a complete monopoly on game streaming. This is their ultimate goal. Unfortunately, streaming is the future.
The generation of gamers over the age of 25 is getting smaller, while the younger generation under the age of 25 is getting bigger and bigger. Gaming is getting bigger and bigger. More young people are gaming compared to older folks. This new and young generation – 25 and younger – are mostly all on board for streaming and their lives for rent.

Anywho... as I presumed... this generation would be my last of full investment. I may stream Elder Scrolls 6 when it releases in 2026 or 2027.

That's enough doom and gloom for today.

You do realize that the games are still for sale and Gamepass is an opt-in thing right? 🤣

What other publishers would put MS or Sony through the ringer like this though? I'm sure both MS and Sony are eyeing smaller pubs/devs trying to figure out which ones could be purchased without opposition from regulators haha

I don't think she's delusional. Rather, in the context of gaming, she is just your run of the mill 50+ year old mother, where everything on every device is basically the same thing.

shes delusional to think that MS buying a gaming company worth 80% of Sony's ENTIRE market cap and 2x that of their playstation business is not anti-competitive.

This is basic economy 101 but this is America where we let shit like this go unchecked and have it blow up in our faces time and time again. See the Time Warner AT&T merger and the AOL and Time Warner merger back in the 2000s.

CMA was crucial in nvidia dropping its bid for ARM so hopefully they do the same here. The U.S sucks at this stuff and always sides with corporations.
The thing is its so hard to prove something is anticompetitive. But we all know that is the case so it nearly always leans towards the unknown.

The ARM case was having a US firm bidding to buy out a UK company that has a dramatic affect on tech industry and would've given them too much control.

Her decision was t based on anything you're talking about. It was on the FTC to prove their case and funny they used theories and concerns about what Sony has done in the past and is doing today. Being big or small was never the factor of the decision and they tried using Sony as a victim to this merger when they are number 1 in the world. The FTC tried to defend the number one market share I stead of allowing competition. Some of you are whining and making stuff up just to feel good 🤷🏾‍♂️

Now things are getting interesting, is MS going to close and just deal with the UK later?

I like the idea of the UK nuclear option (as a French) but this is a really huge decision that will have impacts even outside of the gaming world.

I'm with you but if after all this Microsoft comes out with ABK, I don't see how they could stop Sony or even Nintendo from buying a smaller company

unless it somehow amounts to it's okay for one of the largest companies in the world to try to buy out their competition but you smaller companies just have to suffer
Exactly. Console SLC was out of the window anyway. And Sony has no majority share in the Cloud gaming market. Even Take-Two/GTA is on the table for Sony now. However, I don't think Sony wants to buy it. Too much risk.

(2) Microsoft didn't even inform or consult Nintendo before making that commitment

I assume you meant to type Activision instead of Nintendo, but in any case it was actually Nintendo who reached out to Microsoft regarding getting CoD back on Nintendo platforms. Steve Singer, the guy who testified from Nintendo in the trial was the one who executed the deal with Xbox.

Why can't Nintendo hardware run a CoD game if designed to run on it?

New Switch is likely coming first half next year and they can easily port to it. I think that's what they're thinking anyway, they just can't say Switch 2 cause it's not announced yet and therefore play act like it can run on Switch 1.

Lol. I knew something was up when my ATVI stock jumped $4. Thank you MS.

For all the Xbox haters acting like big shots and lawyers, relax. You still are getting COD on PlayStation. You are still getting Diablo. You are still getting Tony Hawk.

The only difference is that a few years from now when all the Activision/Sony partnerships have contractually ended, Xbox will be getting the promos first. Just like how Sony has been getting the deals for 10 years.

Lol, ms are petty enough I wont be surprise if they pull overwatch 2 from playstation store.

Yes, Activision. Thanks!

you and i both know thats nonsense. if activision couldve ported these games on the switch they would've.

all you have to do is look at the ps360 versions of blops 3 and see how 'tailored' they were. No campaign, barebones maps and features. they were a joke and that was a 2015 game. getting MW2 or a next gen only COD to run on a switch that is literally 63x weaker than the xsx is simply going to be impossible.

Good thing From Software already brought back Tenchu. They call it Sekiro now. A Sekiro sequel would be music to my ears though. From is too busy with Elden Ring DLC, Armored Core 6 and their next magic-heavy game. But after that, Bloodborne or a New Sekiro would be more than welcomed.

Phil was wearing a Hexen shirt at the showcase.

They could have, but Kotik's hubris didn't allow that to happen. He expressed his regret about it in the hearings.

Y'all were there. We read all these things at the same time lol.

Only in the UK does the CMA have authority right? Surely they can't stop a merger in another country right?
People seem to think they can but I seriously doubt legality of trying to enforce one nation's laws in another.

People will point to Giphy but idk if that was worth the trouble. We shall see either way.

If both sides start buying up everything it's going to be fucking dog shit. Anyone who is for this bullshit is just silly.
The only reason to buy a publisher would be if they are in trouble and potentially going under, Activision are not that.
