Not unexpected but I wonder if this paves the way for larger purchases. I bet Tencent has cash ready to spend but was waiting for this. Makes me uneasy.

I don't think I have ever experienced such a roller coaster of a ride on a forum thread.... that said its not over till its over.

And by the time the next switch comes out, they will be making next gen cods and it will be a gen behind the PS5 and XSX just like the switch was to PS4 and X1.
I think porting 1 gen down is no big deal, we have seen enough ports to Switch last gen to know it's possible. Microsoft will probably get one of porting specialists to do the job. There's too much money on the table for this not to happen. Not sure every COD entry will be ported, probably highly unlikely, but Warzone has to be on the cards with the amount of money it makes.

Lord have mercy, there are dark time ahead of us. Gaming is gonna change significantly the next few years and I think some people will be shocked that they won't like whats coming.

Most gamers have been complaining none stop for the last decade or so. It'll be interesting if they turn nostalgiac for the current age

All the Microsoft/Xbox people that are laughing about this decision.... this going to bite you right back your ass. This just means that other companies like Sony, Nintendo, or whoever will just make more games exclusives that weren't exclusive before. We all know damn well that Phil won't stick to his word and will eventually make those games exclusive to Xbox.

This is awful for the industry.
If there's a company Sony wanted and was for sale they would have or would buy them so this is just silly

Someone TLDR whats happened today or something

- Judge denied Activision's PI request.
- Immediately after that, CMA and MS announced they are back to negotiating and have paused the litigation, which means they have likely softened their stance.

Whelp, here we go!

I for one am excited to see just how... conglomerated... things get.
Me too. I don't own stocks or are tied up in a company by any means, but this will be a bloodbath and everyone will go after what will hurt their competition most. Gaming as we know it will change forever - and I don't think for the better - looking at the film industry...

Bad day for PlayStation only gamers.

No, he's right. This is going to set off a domino effect. The independent 3P market as we know it today will probably cease to exist within 10 years. It doesn't matter if there are still thousands of 3P devs and pubs; when they collectively are worth only 1/26th of the total market revenue value, and can't even produce AAA or even bigger AA games, then what industry are we really left with?

This is only going to lead to less games, less software variety and innovation, and ironically, less actual competition.

Most wont care because gaming is just a means to socially interact or watch a movie, they could give a shit less. The younger generations absolutely dont give a shit trust me, gaming means nothing to them.

Alot of people gave a shit for this deal to go through, the way the industry is heading they will desire the 360 to xbone days back when other big companies make their play. This won't end well for gamers.

And what does this mean, what about other agencies? Like CMA, EU, whatever... Are we all cucked to our overlords USA??

That's because most game "journalists" are shills for one or another company. I remember when a particular game got released on PS3/360 and there were ads for it all over review sites, and one of them fired the reviewer for honestly panning the game. It revealed some of the corruption that goes on with game journalism.
Kane and Lynch the journalist was Jeff Gerstmann I forgot all about that good call out

Things like this spur companies to spend money on acquiring their own things. Sony wasn't spending tens of billions because they weren't threatened to. Now they are and had already announced plans to invest more aggressively.

This sucks! I can't believe this happened! Every Activision Game will be exclusive to Xbox sooner or later!

That means no more Call of Duty! And no more.....No more...umm...Crash...bandicoot..?
What eh..what else does Activision even make..?

Wait, DJ hero! Fuck, No more DJ Hero on Playstation!

Now that Microsoft has won the FTC case and the CMA looks like they don't want to go the whole nine-yards with Microsoft in litigation, I expect Diablo IV to be on GamePass before the end of the year, and the next COD reveal trailer to state, "Day One on GamePass". All I know is I am saving myself some good amount of $$$.

By the looks of it, activision games will come to game pass (console and pc), Nintendo might finally get some COD (last game they got was black ops 2), MS will push activision games on more cloud services so anyone with a phone can play instead putting the behind a console or pc, and right now nothing has changed for PS.

So what's the concern?

Well... HeisenbergFX4 HeisenbergFX4 delivered again!! Nice going

Time to start slow cooking my crow, it will be served to perfection with all sides included as soon as MS makes COD exclusive to all that thinks this aint gonna happen ...

And since I think this exclusivity will only come next gen, it will be a really slow cook indeed

Welp... well there goes gaming.

Well done Murica, billion dollar corporations win again 🤣.

Well I'm here for the last few years of gaming before it goes to shit, let's hope it goes out with a bang and not a redfall wimper

This is awful for the industry.

All Sony and Nintendo games are already exclusive, and Sony are already balls deep in getting them from third parties as well. This isn't gonna negatively affect Xbox any more than they already are being by Sony just going about their every day business.

Yeap the only company without money to compete. The only way Playstation can stay in this game long term is if someone with a full bag o cash come together.
If people think Sony can't get a big bucks buyer whenever they want then they are sorely mistaken imo.

i'm fumin

Well....if it makes you feel better..... Ill take that meltdown you promised me the other day, if your in the mood, still. your enthusiasm was infectious.

Absolutely it does. The world has set a precedence here that a trillion $ company can buy the biggest independent multiplatform gaming publisher for $69 billion.

It's going to be a free-for-all now. And that's what I was most afraid of: less variety of games, less innovation in the industry, just corps getting richer and richer.

Wow. I didn't expect to see the CMA crumble so quickly. "it's in" now in terms of this going through.

Basically the FTC jumping the gun and losing somehow made the CMA cave in when the FTC didn't even primarily focus on the things that were most damning to MS (cloud SLC)?

Yeah, that definitely looks weak of them. Could also be the Tories pressuring them BTS and this FTC situation being the catalyst for them to do a 180 publicly.
