They just released a Crash party game.

Banger after banger:

They will probably not get the Diablo IV expansion. It's going to be uncomfortable with the base game Diablo IV on PS but no expansions but this is the world regulators wanted I guess

Doubt it. ESO expansions keep dropping on PlayStation. Would be super shitty to block expansions for a game people bought already.

Apologies if already asked (i just woke up to this and the thread has raced), but with Sony signing this binding agreement, does that mean that they will need to provide their future PS6 dev kits to MS/ATV??

The timing of when they send them can still be at their own discretion. If them sending dev kits late results in only a BC version of a potential cross-gen COD then so be it.

I think this idea that somehow Sony dropped the ball on getting ABK game besides CoD is silly, all things considered.

So, MAYBE a Crash Bandicoot game if Toys For Bob isn't kept in the CoD sweat shop. The last two mainline Diablo games took 10+ years to release. You're definitely not getting another in 5 years. Assuming Overwatch even gets a sequel, you're not getting another then either. That Blizzard survival game, assuming it isn't canceled? Like, what was lost here?

I'm not sucking your dick. Please direct such requests to Ass of Can Whooping Ass of Can Whooping

Agreed. I dont see them stripping away or witholding COD or diablo content, much like they dont with ESO and fallout. These things are a constent stream of money for MS.

But im pretty sure anything made with the other IPs will be exclusive.

Are you aware Sony never said dev kits or are you just are just pushing that narrative because?

Plot twist: since the contract makes sure that all versions are identical, MS cant release a native version for their next gen console, if Sony doesnt send dev kits in time. A truly 500iq move by Jimbo

Ofc Activision will get devs Kits, they just wont get them super early like close Partners.

Jez.....about that.....

I literally just had to search for "i hope microsoft makes call of duty exclusive" on twitter. Just grabbed a few out of the results. Nothing but willful ignorance on Jez's part, as usual.

Give him a break. He hasn't seen his own dick in ages. So he'll do anything to be face-to-shaft with Phil's.

The CMA really has zero jurisdiction or reach regarding ANY market outside the UK. Their concern should be the local market, all other markets have their own regulatory authorities.
The proposed remedy has to satisfy their concerns, whether that impacts Microsoft globally or not. Hence why the proposed remedies were all variations of divestment of CoD, and not solely UK focussed remedies.

If MS could divest CoD just in the UK but continue the purchase in other markets the CMA would have to respect that, as they have no authority anywhere else. MS can't sell a company just in one region which is why they said that is a non-starter, obviously. If MS completely exits the cloud gaming space in the UK that eliminates the only major concern that the CMA brought forward with the deal. I don't see how they could push for more than that and remain credible.

I seriously doubt Microsoft will be able to block expansions for PS version of Diablo when Rod Ferguson already announced two expansions for D4. PS gamers should get everything that was said to be coming prior to purchasing the game. Otherwise they would open themselves up to a class action lawsuit.

I asked Chat GPT. Got this back.

In general, competition authorities have the power to review and potentially block mergers or acquisitions if they determine that the transaction would result in a substantial lessening of competition within their jurisdiction. The authority may consider various factors such as market share, potential market dominance, impact on consumers, and the competitive landscape.

Even if the products of the acquired company are not found in the UK, the CMA may still have jurisdiction to review the merger or acquisition if it affects competition within the UK market. The CMA could consider factors such as the potential impact on suppliers, customers, or competitors in the UK market.

It's worth noting that competition authorities typically assess the potential impact on competition based on the relevant market, which can be defined based on product similarities, geographical scope, and consumer behavior. So, even if the acquired company's product is not directly available in the UK, if it operates in a related market or there is a potential overlap that could impact competition in the UK, the CMA may still have the authority to intervene.

Native PC is going to be better than playing a BC title. Just saying, the game hasn't been impossible to get if you really want to play it.

It's incentive for BC resurrection. I can get i on steam this minute if I wanted to but eh ....

I loved playing Fallout 3 in BC recently, despite it also being on PC game pass (same for FO4). I just like playing games on the console(s).

@ Varteras Varteras a lot of ifs, may, and maybies in that snippet there. They will really be pushing the political headwinds if they even considered going that far.

I guess we'll see. The end result would almost certainly not be what the CMA wanted with that approach, that we can be sure of.

Well no, because if Microsoft were to own everything globally, but were just to exclude the UK, that would still stifle competition and start ups within the UK.

If MS completely exits the cloud gaming space in the UK that eliminates the only major concern that the CMA brought forward with the deal.

That's not a very nuanced take.

Not to mention, what does a complete exit of cloud gaming in the UK even look like? They get to gate keep all of the content or do they permanently sell all of their current and future games' cloud streaming publishing rights, and sell their UK data centres and infrastructure?

I would like more BC also, but I'll always go for the best native version available. Maybe they could put some of those games on the windows store like they did with Bethesda games for game pass.

I understand the concept of selective hearing, but has anyone heard of selective sight?
