I feel like these kind of games would be better served with with a centralized game that adds in killers and settings from different franchises to add more variety. Crazy it hasn't happened...
Dont know if you are being sarcastic or not, but Dead by Daylight has every killer in the world and then someI'll check out the inevitable kills video to see how gruesome it gets but that's about it. Seems like you'd see everything there is in like an hour.

not into this type of game
that trailer looks relatively rough. worse than the F13th game. I do hope it brings some good strategy and improvements to the genre though for fans
I guess I'll have to set aside some time to try it near launch. I can finally say I tried this genre if nothing else.I love the franchise, but this is not what the fans want. We want a single player experience as these multiplayer games do not have a long shelf life. Friday the 13th has been dead for sometime now, Evil Dead is dying off too. I did enjoy Friday the 13th, the gameplay was much more engaging than Dead by Daylight, Evil Dead is also fun for a couple hours. But TCM is not going to have bots so i dont see it lasting too long.

Friday the 13th has been dead for sometime now
Pass for me. I feel the lack of map variety (you could do the family home, the gas station, the slaughter house…..and?) would make the game grow rapidly boring. I enjoy quite a few TCM film installments, but I don’t think it’s a good fit for a long-lasting asymmetrical game.
There's another Friday the 13th game in the works right now, but unknown if it's going to be a single player experience. While that's true, the lawsuit forcing Gun to stop development on it shortly after release certainly really didn't help. They had a decent amount of post-release content planned for it but ultimately were literally not allowed to work on. Paranoia sounded really cool, but my favorite part of the game was also all the chaos going on with the other counselors.
I really want to know what the game would have looked like today had Gun never ended up getting the Friday the 13th license and continued to develop the game as the homage to the series (and other 80s horror movies) like they initially announced it as:

A team comprised of industry veterans and horror movie icons announce the asymmetric multiplayer horror game 'Slasher Vol 1: Summer Camp' as an homage to '80s horror movies.gamerant.com
I also feel vindicated that I'm not the only one in this thread saying I preferred the gameplay of Friday the 13th over Dead By Daylight.
What did you like about f13 way more than DbdDead by Daylight is toilet.
Friday the 13th was WAAAAAAY better. I've had kids yelling in the mic crying like Jason was in the room with them while playing that game. It was funny as fuck.
I'll probably get this eventually so I hope it keeps a steady player base and doesn't die before then.
F13 was designed to be a game made around fun primarily. Dead by Daylight wants to be some shit fake eSport Fortnite type horror game. Tipping palettes over and jumping over walls gets pretty redundant fast. What did you like about f13 way more than Dbd
I dont see how people find dead by daylight fun, you just run around and do qte segments to fix generators.
-tons of killers with different abilities. Playing as them or against them offers different experiences
-lots of different perks letting you make different builds
-tons of map variety
-lots of IPs covered (and Nicolas Cage!!!)
I haven't played a lot of Dead By Daylight but are all the map objectives the same (power up x number of generators to open the exit?). While it is way more competent than Friday the 13th, the popularity always surprised me a bit and the core of the game always felt more like a distraction than something to sink hundreds of hours into. With Friday the 13th, it actually felt like you were taking part in a movie where Dead By Daylight feels more contrived. On the flipside, they Dead By Daylight team has done a wonderful job supporting the game with content and securing licenses which certainly helps with the popularity aspect.
I'm absolutely sick and tired of seeing these asymmetrical multiplayer games, even though I haven't played a single one of them. It's mostly because they just poach those classic 80s movie IPs for a quick asset flip using the exact same gameplay formula, only with a different monster/villain to chase around. I'd love to play an actual story-driven Predator game, or an Evil Dead or Hellraiser survival horror, but instead all we get are those low-effort MP games and it pisses me off.
At least Aliens hasn't been wasted on this shit yet.
I realize that some of them feature some slight variations on the formula but the idea is essentially the same - a group of scrubby characters against a single OP baddie. Although you do have some specific offenders like Dead By Daylight that basically treats those classic characters like DLC skins, or that one company who keeps churning out these games whenever they can get their hands on a different movie IP.If you think any of them follow the same gameplay formula you are wrong as hell. I do agree in that I wish they wouldn't waste these IP's on multiplayer games that'll be dead within a month or 2 of release though.
On topic, no, I'm not hype nor do I have high expectations. I was hype, but then played the test and I hated it. TCM is probably my favorite series in horror as well, so quite the letdown.

The problem with dead by daylight is that it isn't a horror game. It's an arena sport with a horror theme.

How did evil dead stack up to the others? Never got around to playing it“Low effort” is easy to say when you admit you haven’t touched a single one of them. I’ve put tons of time into Dead by Daylight, F13 (though significantly less time there), Evil Dead, and even Resident Evil had a good one with Resistance. And from what I played of the TCM technical test, it has some cool unique elements as well.
There are also others not based off of popular horror franchises that have come and gone and also been unique.
Also funny you mention Alien, it is the next chapter to be released in Dead by Daylight![]()
Yeah, and it too will suck like Friday the 13th and Evil Dead. There’s a Texas chainsaw massacre game coming out?
Balance is a mess and they pulled some bullshit with the latest dlc so I bailed on it. It was fun but it suffers from having only 1 win condition and queue times are pretty awful. How did evil dead stack up to the others? Never got around to playing it
