Wow Forza looks like trash here. It doesn't look realistic, just drab.

Is this supposed to be satire?!?

*then proceeds to post pictures of Halo's grey washed-out lighting....

How can you not see how the above pics dismantle your own argument?

You don't see a difference in how the two pictures are lit ? I think you should look into that first, my friend.

I see a difference. But both have flat and washed-out lighting. So I don't see how either picture supports your argument.

Anyway, this is getting off-topic. We won't agree about Halo Infinite's lighting, so I'm not interested in any more back and forth on this. This thread is not about Halo Infinite, so we can get back on topic.

Tell me Polyphony aren't wizards. That game runs on a PS4. The tech is less advanced, but it looks better and they have 120fps mode and VR.
and this game runs at 1080P and 60fps on PS4 which seems quite impressive to me, what will GT8 be like for PS5? What would happen if they gave up 4K? We could see something pretty good in the future.

What the fuck is going on with Forza's taillights? This looks like a police car chase straight out of NFS…
True, it looks like pure garbage. I didn't realise some reviews were already out for this and it's standing at 84, exactly same as Starfeld. I would have guessed 80-82 from looking at these gifs. Fair play to Xbox I guess for beating my estimate.

I think you answered half your question yourself, less advanced tech = more headroom for 120fps. Though considering how water tight FM's 60 FPS is at all times, there should be headroom for a 120hz patch, maybe in a later update.

But GT7 was made as a PS5 game first and foremost, the PS4 port was a much later addition, so it's not like you're comparing with a cross-gen game that got a PS5 enhanced patch either.

Lol @ gt8 on ps5.

Given their track record well be on PS6 bare minimum for that.

What makes you think GT7 was developed with PS5 as lead platform? got any receipts for that statement?

It was announced and marketed as a PS5 exclusive for a long time before the one interview where Hulst mentioned both it and Forbidden West will also get PS4 releases because of the console shortages we had back then.

Also, the usual insider chatter:

Gran Turismo 7, after all, was outright advertised as a PS5 exclusive in December, although to be fair to Sony, I understand the decision to release a PS4 version was made only fairly recently.

Can we just get Project Gotham Racing Back? It was so much better fun for me than these damn SIMS. In fact I feel Drive Club looked just as good and that like 7 years old

Fair enough, thanks. Wasn't doubting you as it sounded right, I had just forgotten. However, I would still class GT7 as cross-gen personally, not that it matters cos it slaps so hard anyway.

track record?

PS1 - gt1, gt2
PS2 - gt3, gt4
PS3 - gt5, gt6
PS4 - gts, gt7

what the fuck are you on about?
Gt7 came out when ps5 was released and only came out on ps4 because of supply issues making ps5s anyway.

They essentially skipped a generation as gts is not a full gt game. You think they are churning out 2 for ps5?

Let's say I think your deluded and leave it at that.

people here should watch the digital foundary video to get an actual impression of how the game looks compared to that ign video
But will that video fit the narrative people are working with in this thread?

It does suck that this thread looks more like Sony v Xbox, more than GT7 v FM.

I think GT7 looks fantastic. I haven't given FM enough attention to compare.

IGN video editors don't know how to capture footage confirmed.
Not only that IGN videos generally suck, but if you add that the author of the video admits that the same FM is working under the effects of the bug that corrupts colors, contrast and brightness...... So, yes, you can say that IGN doesn't know how to edit videos.

PS. What is no surprise to anyone is that the author himself recognizes that it is not a comparison on equal terms and yet he does not make any move to remove it from YouTube and make a new one.....

Doesn't matter it came later or whatever reasons, fact is it's on PS4. You're talking about GT7 PS4 like it just popped up out of nowhere. They were developed concurrently in-house and came out simultaneously on both PS4 & PS5. If you think you know for a fact that GT8 won't come out on PS5+6 as crossgen then you're the deluded one, as "track record" suggests otherwise.

Gotta get the clicks from the warriors. I more think it speaks how the people covering games operate. Put something out, regardless if is accurate or legitimate. Clicks come first.

So now GT7 is a next gen game with a cross gen "addition"? Cool. We'll keep that in mind the next time one of you screams "cRoSs gEn" from every mountaintop that exists.

I don't think I've read a single post from anyone talking it down because of it being 'cross-gen', at least in this topic. If you see them, feel free to quote the article. I've used that article a few times in some other topics myself to dispel that.

Plenty of topics, so let's not dunk our heads in glue water. Bottom line is only one of these games was totally current gen and that's what stands out.

Doesn't look like it in the comparison vids shown here. But if true, point taken.
Well, it is clearly seen in those videos as well. Perhaps it is not seen so clearly because in that comparison the circuit in FM is full of light sources on the circuit (which also generate shadows) while in GT7 there are none and only the lights of the car you control are present (those on the The rest do not generate shadows) and only affects the AI car in front and not the rest or objects on the circuit.

In that aspect I think FM is being more than competent.

Lol @ gt8 on ps5.

Seems pretty locked in there'll be a PS5 only Gran Turismo by 2025.

That could be a all-new GT8 or a major PS5 (Pro) GT7 Spec II update. Afterall, Sony are not averse to re-releasing titles to take full advantage of new hardware.

When there's a 12-18 month gap between GT & FM I'd always expect the newer title to take a slight tech lead. I'm not sure that's the case with this new FM. I really think PD will blow peoples minds with a current-gen only GT. They released GT7 very early in the gen, it was (as we all know) cross-gen, and they also delivered PSVR2 support. So not only will they be able to take full advantage of PS5 - they'll also have PS5 Pro to really dial up the RT, framerates, effects and so on. It's a huge opportunity for them as they don't need to remake their car & track assets. They can concentrate on tech and game design.

Games have more than a year of difference, of course the most recent game would be technically ahead. Would be strange otherwise.
This is a silly comparison and...

I'm sorry but the bug is more realistic according to some in this thread so Turn 10 has to keep it.

Also tells you who doesn't know wtf they are talking about. As long as there is a particular brand logo on the box, they will defend it to death. Lol

FYI, you're instigating an incorrect point here. The bug happens if you change modes in the game and not restart it, the IGN video in the OP looks like it has that.

The other channel video and pictures, and even the DF ones, are captured without the bug:

You can immediately see what the bug does here:

My brother is a big Xbox fan and after trying GT7 in VR has said the same thing that Xbox should be focusing on VR. They have a great library for it too especially right now. Flight Sim in VR?
Sadly there's a lack of AAA VR games but GT7 is a perfect example. It's mind blowing on PSVR2.

Forza could be the equivalent VR experience for Xbox and obviously the flight sim they have would be excellent aswell.

Sadly for the industry MS is too lazy to innovate and will probably just buy their way as usual.

Remember those leaks where MS employees were posting on online forums? Seeing all this posters saying a washed out image looks better then a realistic one would really make you think.

Its not how it looks, but how it FEELS, and

The thin about these two games for the last ten years is that you can easily get pics of both that make one look better than the other.

If forza is having to notably upscale though, I guess that's a concrete point considering they look pretty much the same. I wonder if they blew that on reaytracing whatever they did. I imagine reflections?
