Why is there such a huge difference in contrast and exposure in pics some users are getting from twitter and one's which come off of a direct feed console.

Just look at the Forza logo on this pic and compare with mine, someone cranked up the brightness to max to take this picture.

That is obviously a copy and paste job from older Forza game. May be from 360 era ? But IMO photo mode comparison is irrelevant. GT photo mode cannot be used in PS6 gameplay as well.

Patches won't fix those low quality models. It's the same one as in FM7 so it isn't broken, it's just low quality.

But anyway, GT has better car details, I don't think anyone will disagree with that. Forza has other strengths that GT doesn't in its latest game.

Both have strengths and weaknesses. There is no 'but this looks a generation ahead of the other'. Which is disappointing for a game six years in the making and exclusive to the current gen.

And I'm my opinion: especially for Forza which was, in previous iterations, better than GT in almost every regard. Yes, I've always been more of a Forza guy.

Is my pic too bright or is your too dark? For sure both looks horrible.

PS Simply if you take a picture playng with HDR ON (that in 2023 should be the normal condition) it looks very bright, if you take a picture playng with HDR off (pure nonensense if you have a TV that support HDR) it looks too dark. It's clear that these devs have made something wrong

I'm not sure what the issue is? If you scale it down enough like the gif's posted here, it looks a lot better. See Fig 1.

It is but the tracks dont pop during day time. Game looks amazing with cars around during the starting grid but then mediocre as you go through some really bland looking tracks.

But do those scenes look as good in bonnet cam/ or no bonnet cam like cross gen GT7 does? A friend at drop off that has no preference and playing on PC with a RTX 4080/OLED C1 (owns PS5/XsX) said it looks poor, soft and lacking crispness compared to the previous forza and not as good at GT7, to the extent he'd stopped playing because his Forza on 4080 looks far worse than his PS5 with GT7..

Brought this up a few pages ago, for those who have both. I agree. Regarding menu/load screens, Forza feels sluggish and janky in comparison

In a car game, only here will you see excuses for frankly shitty car models. Apart from lacking detail, look at those big ole polygons. I think motorfest cars are better than some Forza Motorsport models, and I'm not joking at all

I was playing with photo mode on the PS4 version of GT7 earlier and I think the car models even on that last gen version look better than FM2023, there is more detail when you zoom in (replay mode, not scapes).

Models are 100% carried over in FM8, despite T10's "built from the ground up" marketing nonsense.

That said--personally, I feel like most car models in Forza are good enough that I'd rather have more cars than have to wait for Polyphony-level detailing.

FM2023 currently has 500+ PS3/PS4 detailed cars.

Huge problem with legacy assets outside the crude details like headlamps, it that in Forza they are modeled very narrowly from the inside.

Ever since GT Sport all car interiors in GT are made with 360 degrees camera in mind. That 'useless' overdesign are why you can play the game in VR mode from start to finish. And it is also pure eye-candy. Look at the recent Hiace Ambulance model, for example.

In FM 2023 some cockpits are broken even on default FoV. So not even VR mods on PC will save the game, the assets are just not there across the board, cockpits are modeled partially, only to fit onto the tiny camera pivot. A huge bummer for assets future-proofness. From the ground up!

FM7 had like 700+ cars. They removed a crapton of cars for FM2023...for no apparent good reason, since it's not like the models remaining are brand new.

Half of FM car list is an honest standart models from GT6/GT5 era. There are a few 'premiums' (usually from taken from more recent Horizon games), but they are still lacking due to outsourcing quality.
