We aren't in other threads. We're in this thread. Thus, irrelevant.

If you don't like watching the continued topic of this thread play out, there's an easy solution.
Trust me, it's in other threads all too often. The fact that you act like it's contained in here is laughable.

I always laugh at stupid posts like these because it's clear that you have no argument. You're just, as I said, bitchin'.
I'm laughing too, so no worries. There's a difference between comparisons and outright warring about little fragments in images/gifs ad nauseam. But I'm sure everyone's favourite boxes are winning in their heads.

Really. So tell us thread policeman/woman/whatever the fuck you are — what should they be doing?

Probably just comparing. But since no one can do that without having it devolve into plastic box humping, it's just astounding to watch. The fact that you're swearing and getting all riled up just makes it funnier.

"Riled up"?

For real. Feels like some people don't actually have their consoles plugged in. They just have them tucked into their beds next to them like teddy bears.

There's a saying about glass houses. Read up on it.

Forget the RT, lighting, washed out look, even car models.

The biggest sign something went wrong in development for me is trackside detail.

This was always my biggest complaint about GT7, although newer tracks are much better. I'm also convinced PD have been making undocumented changes to improve trackside detail. The likes of Tokyo and Sardegna now look pretty impressive. At launch they were very underwhelming.

i like how the back fire effects in forza, idk why gt7 doesn't have that at all, i jumped back in to see and was not able to find a car that does that in gt7

I'm not riled up. Like I said, it's hilarious. You're the one spouting off about posts being stupid and swearing. Calls my posts stupid but continues to engage. I've clearly hit a nerve.
"I've clearly hit a nerve".

You're a literal walking bag of irony.

Irony and perception are two different things.
No shit..... oh, I forgot, no "swearing" allowed.

In truth, what you're saying isn't that serious. I just don't get why someone would participate in a thread who's material is something they don't like.

All i see in GT7 and Forza 7 are crushed blacks and bland lighting. Maybe FM8 is using hero lighting on cars. Who knows. I simply prefer it.

This is a slightly misleading comparison between DC which is under cloudy skies and FM8 during bright daylight, but i love how FM8 cars look here. Straight up CG.

FM's lighting is so good.

It's biggest accomplishment is indeed getting the day time lighting right. They just have to tweak the gamma settings to get rid of the slightly washed out look, but I just love the look of the game with all cars on screen properly lit. They stand out in ways NPC cars in other racers dont.

Forza doesn't have global illumination does it? Anyway I thought it was a comparison thread, okay. The lighting looks... fine. You seem to think it is doing something special which previous Forzas didn't.
Pretty sure it has realtime GI. What is missing is RTGI which was promised for PC but did not ship at launch.

I see, I can't keep up with the different terminology tbh.

edit - yes indeed.

Global illumination also seems considerably enhanced, with the track and environment taking on a more natural hue through a range of lighting conditions. At times, these improvements produce a very striking image, with a dynamic lighting presentation relative to the earlier title.

This sort of comparison frustrates me because FM7's lighting was poor compared to its predecessors, so it's a bit misleading imo. If you compared FM5 to FM7, the former looks significantly brighter than the latter too.

Maple Valley wasn't in FM5 or FM6 unfortunately or I'd do a comparison myself.

I understand. Lots of people use the RTGI shorthand, which can be both real time GI or ray traced GI, it gets confusing.

But, for this game, they *said* the PC version will support full ray traced GI as well, but that option isn't there at launch. Maybe in a later update.

What is going on with this Forza M pic? Look at the red car ahead, there is a shadow cast being draped over the vehicle. However, it doesn't affect the lighting on the vehicle, are you sure you're using Quality mode here?

Wait it's OK above but not here?? Jeez stop moving goal posts.

On a serious note there's barely a real Series X vs PS5 comparison like for like in here!

Can you at least post something bigger than a postage stamp's size :P

Well, technically Every game has global illumination, what we are discussing here is realtime GI or dynamic GI. GI was baked in last gen in pretty much every single video game. AC Unity uses really high quality baked in GI, but it basically prevented them from switching between different time of days on the fly. So like Spiderman they would use really high quality GI probes for one time of day then after a few missions hide the time of day/lighting change behind a loading screen.

This realtime GI will only affect transitions from day time to evening then night. In other racing games with realtime time of day changes, those transitions are abrupt and you can see exactly when they flip from one time of day to the next. realtime or dyanmic GI is supposed to gracefully handle that transition. I am sure they have made improvements to their overall GI light bounce but the dynamic nature of their GI solution is something rarely seen last gen.

RTGI is basically the same thing but hardware accelerated using RT cores to properly calculate the light bounce, but I hope they go back and improve their regular lighting model and go back to what they showed a couple of years ago. Putting RTGI wont magically fix everything. It will just make it more accurate. I have no idea why they felt compelled to downgrade it when they can run the game at native 4k 60 fps on the series x, but they shouldve had multiple lighting settings on PC. Starfield also uses realtime GI but it supports like three different lighting settings. Some make less of a difference than others but its a gorgeous looking game under the right lighting conditions at max settings and looks substantially better than the xsx version.

i am convinced the 1440p performance rt version looks better than my pc version at ultra lol

You know I won't be surprised :P

Someone in the AC Mirage topic also said the pictures I posted look better than their PC version, those pictures were also AC Mirage in Performance mode (1440p or thereabout)

Some direct captures from my console.

Series X, Perf RT mode.

Why should there be, the roof isn't on the floor.

I've already said. This is the amateurs thread.
