I know what you're saying. I have the same opinion about Robocop. Liked the game but still should have been 3rd person imo. Something like alien was awesome in first person because you're chased by the Alien. When you're playing as the character it's usually better to actually see it during gameplayThat doesn't change my opinion. I could spend the rest of the day posting pics of third person games with famous character IPs. Batman, Spiderman, the list goes on and on.
wait, that's a her?And she has the same lez haircut all the other npcs, I can’t imagine anything creative coming out of her

No one can change your opinions. It is yours.
I'm just giving examples that show first person and licensed IP can go very well hand-in-hand and be received very well on release.
It's better than making a straight-up Uncharted / TR clone, as those are already well established third person games.
wait, that's a her?![]()
You know if they made it third person, it would be nothing *but* direct comparisons to Uncharted through the games lifetime.
This way, they can differentiate and make their own spin on it.
Tomb Raider reboot was constantly accused of being an Uncharted copy.![]()
Those IPs exist because of Indiana Jones. Accusing Indiana Jones of plagiarism for having the very hallmarks of what the franchise is known for would be idiotic.
Uncharted was compared to Tomb Raider throughout its lifetime. So what? That didn't make it any less of a game. What would have made it less of a game is if Naughty Dog made design decisions based on being worried about being compared to Tomb Raider.
Conspiracy? Where did that come from? Isn’t cyberpunk first person also? That’s game is great. This thread is either this game looks good to great, or first person bad, game is awful. I wonder how much of the latter had any intention of playing this game either way. There are so many good first person perspective games, it’s such an odd stance to have to dismiss a game due to this. Maybe I’ve been living under a rock all these years, but I thought first person games have been pretty prominent and well liked for decades.look at the cyberpunk thread buddy. no conspiracy theories
Are you implying that this game isn't third person because Machine Games were worried about comparisons?
I can’t recall Machine Games ever making a 3rd person game, so yeah, it was likely the right choice here.but whenever the camera switches to third person he is animating janky as hell, so maybe it was the right choice.
RuboCop is also a very different property. The movies showed the hud. 1st person is very fitting for this sort of a game. And what do you think the budget was for RoboCop and comparison to Indiana Jones? That's the point i'm trying to make. I knew what I was expecting when I bought RoboCop. One studio had the limitations of a budget and another studio doesn't and the fact that they look similar is a problem.
looking at their animation quality, they should definetly be worried of such comparisons yeah, u4 from 2016 takes a huge dump on this. Are you implying that this game isn't third person because Machine Games were worried about comparisons?

I think that was the assumption, but some of us were hoping to be wrong I guess.Looks pretty fun.
The visuals seem a bit dated but the gameplay looks cool. I actually wouldn't mind if a good portion of the game involves traversal and puzzles.
Also am I crazy or didn't we already know this was going to be first person? Did I just asume it would be because of Machinegames?
Are you implying that this game isn't third person because Machine Games were worried about comparisons?
I still think it was a dumb move. Third Person and i would be sold on this. This just feels like Wolfestein again.
It's definitely not a man!That's a woman?
Because you don't get it. That other game with gunplay, meele, rope swinging, climbing and puzzles wasn’t a game but a movie but this game based on the movie is a game and not a movie because it's first person. So what's the difference if it is in first person and you have a NPC slow walking and chatting. We had that in Starfield.
To each their own but I thought it was ultra fitting for Robocop because of his vision's HUD. It was all there and felt more immersive IMO. Could've done third person w/ first person HUD, but I could see that taking people out.I know what you're saying. I have the same opinion about Robocop. Liked the game but still should have been 3rd person imo. Something like alien was awesome in first person because you're chased by the Alien. Agreed. Just because it's FPS and has Nazis doesn't mean it's Wolfenstein. There's clearly a much more different vibe here that will flow throughout the whole experience. It has to feel like Indiana Jones, and they made it clear that's what they're going for.Besides the first person perspective, I don't think the trailer looked like a Wolfenstein game at all.
This is how the majority of the recent Wolfensteins games go.

Agree on all points. If the combat/gameplay is interactive enough, I can deal with the first person perspective. It seems like Bioshock in that they want you to think on your feet and use your environment against the enemies.Looked good, although I’d really like the option to choose between first and third person.
I put it on the Steam wishlist.
When I saw this guy mention “made for a modern audience” my heart sank a little. Still, I didn’t see anything “modern audiences” expect from entertainment in the reveal. Let’s hope this game is “the message” free or at least non intrusive.![]()
And my hope for this being any good is gone.
Mods will be "ease" to make as there are already model and animations for third person. \o/Looked good, although I’d really like the option to choose between first and third person.

Sadly, I just don't think this generation cares about Indiana Jones. The movie was a flop and even the 40+ year olds didn't care for it.
I think the game looks pretty fun but I just can't see it appealing to anyone outside of the 40+ year old crowd.
Gameplay looks great, and the atmosphere is really there. That's what matters to me. Visuals are in the good enough territory.

Wolfenstein 2 had a GIRLBOSS cutscene with a topless pregnant woman shooting Nazis with an LMG. These guys don't know the meaning of the word 'subtlety'.When I saw this guy mention “made for a modern audience” my heart sank a little. You’ve pretty much said whole load of nothing. The biggest issue with first person is that it minimizes the most recognizable thing about Indiana Jones - his silhouette. You always know that it's him in the movies as soon as you see this:

If you were to take a glance at this game during the moment-to-moment gameplay, there is very little that signals to you that this game is Indiana Jones and not just any other first-person shooter. You are only reminded of the fact during the occasional third-person cut away. It's a huge blunder by the developers and no amount of "it's in first-person to really make you feel like Indy!" is going to fix it.

well, that was because the games replaced much of the trademark exploration of the originals with massive mounts of combat, not because it was third person. which it always had been, eh?...Tomb Raider reboot was constantly accused of being an Uncharted copy.
The negativity doesn't come from the trailer, it's this console war obsessed forum.Sounds like from the beginning Todd wanted the game to be first person, hence why he went to MachineGames.
I feel like I see a different trailer than some of y'all. I'm not a huge Indy fan by any means but it looks beautiful and fun. Definitely looking forward to it.
it was an uncharted clone.Tomb Raider reboot was constantly accused of being an Uncharted copy.
Hogwarts Legacy didn’t flop, did it? Nor did Robocop. A good game with a recognizable and beloved IP is a good game with a recognizable and beloved IP. The last movie being horrible has no bearing on this game, nor the franchise at large. It was simply a terribly made product by people who didn’t know what they were doing.Sadly, I just don't think this generation cares about Indiana Jones. The movie was a flop and even the 40+ year olds didn't care for it.
