Helldivers II broke 250k+ CCU on Steam: first PlayStation PC release to do so

Pacing to cross 450,000+ on Steam today. 🔥

It might not be able to do it because of the server cap, but hot damn! 🔥
It won't. It's at 340K on Steam alone and if the PS5 has even half of that, it'll massively exceed the capacity. People will just drop the game and play something else out of frustration.

This was a really sloppy job from them.

Is it way too conspiracy thinking and terminally online behaviour to think there may be an astroturfing campaign going on trying to devalue the importance of exclusivity for console platforms prosperity?

Its highly likely that those 340k aint all actually on the server. No way to find out how big the game is for either platform rn.

Yeah, it's kind of weird that after Microsoft announced that some of their games will be getting PlayStation and Switch ports, you see tweets with a huge amount of likes - that 'PS users' are calling for Helldivers to be released on Xbox. Like these:

Microsoft and Xbox fans:

Nintendo fans don't even care but had this been a MS game you would have had the likes of PeterOVO, Colt, JayRock and co posting crap like this while pretending to be anti-exclusives:

In all seriousness though, if on the odd chance they ever do bring it to other platforms, however unlikely, I say the more the merrier. Just do it when the servers are a little less crowded.

The game is a victim of its own success. Steam user review average is dropping because of the connection problems, it used to be 76%, went up to 77 momentarily and now it dropped to 73%.

No one cares about steam reviews. People will buy and play the game anyway, because its FUN, when it works. Doesnt matter if its mixed of very positive.

It's the crossplay campaign all over again.

Day 1 PC ports didn't kill Xbox. That was gamepass.
Hey, we might find out the answer to this if Sony puts a new single player game thats not a remaster or remake on PC day one. I was thinking the exact same thing....MS does so much all at once, did they create Game Pass and do day 1 PC releases at the same time?

Because they already did TLoU and Until Dawn day one or a few months after the PS5 release. Probably Uncharted collection too.

You're missing the forest for the trees. Such a sharp drop reveals the scope of the login problem.

With the connection issues.....I have my doubts too.

Might be a new script in the playbook for MS, lol.

I would not be shocked. How that went down was wild to see.

I dont think that 450k MP cap is true. That or rrowhead servers are prioritizing PC gamers.

Right now SteamDB says PC CCU is 378k. So that means only 70k on PS5 are playing?

How a small dev without a publisher could maintain 2 million CCU, and these guys couldn't maintain 350k? This is kinda embarrassing.

Palworld works completely different. They dont track a bunch of shit like this game does on the server side. 2 Completely different beasts

1) They could have increased the cap size since yesterday.
2) Even PC players who are waiting in the queue, trying to connect, would be counted in the Steam CCU. But they wouldn't be a part of the 450K population.

I'm no dev but it is probably a different type of connectivity. In addition, Palworld can also be played fully offline in your own server, but since you log into steam it still would count you as playing ofc.

Do you think that everyone in the pc version is actually on the servers as well? I waited like 2 hours on pc yesterday and I was still counted towards ccu.

Well, it's embarrassing in any case as it's already 10 days since release and they still can't figure things out, there can't be any justification for this. They are handicapping themselves and spoiling their own success.

I don't know maybe you are lucky, but Steam user rating dropped 5% in a single day telling you everything you need to know about state of things.

People yesterday I was trying to play with took a few hours. Once people got off for the night (America) we could play. Not sure how it's doing today though.

There was one day where it was bad, but ive played every day and its been easy to get in. Have never gotten booted either, no crashes since launch day

played this morning but got kicked out when my game crashed during a Helldive extraction (we had our 6 super uranium too :( ) less than a minute until pull out and when I tried to log in iv been unable to get on the servers all day since.

bye bye 50% exp weekend, I hardly got to play, I finished at rank 37. I was 35 on Friday.

Yes, there's one PS player asking for a Xbox port: Phil Spencer

Is super uranium found randomly like the other specimens?
