Persona 5: The Phantom X - Opening Animation

Btw, it's also on PC and Midori before being forced to retire said it will be launching globally soonish, and apparently Atlus/SEGA themselves will publish it outside of CN & KR instead of Perfect World.

If Sony is smart they'll do their best to get P5X on PS5 asap considering that they already have tons of gacha games on it, and some other higher profiles one coming this year as well (e.g. Zenless Zone Zero, Wuthering Waves and Arknights: Endfield).

Anyway, it's probably my most anticipated gacha game lol as the production values are high and matches Persona 5 Royal. :p

Do we know anything about the gameplay when compared to P5? Is it a similar game with turned based combat and social stuff where you buy personas with money or have they made something completely different?

Yes, it uses the same turn-based combat system as in P5. There are still social links, and like in P5, you can gift character items. You obtain new Personas by pulling for them through the gacha mechanic (the same applies for obtaining new characters/phantom thieves).

There's gacha for weapons too:

There's also a new Velvelt Room waifu, I mean attendant:

They've added new locations to explore:

They've also extended Shinjuku

New Phantoms to recruit (they've put quite a bit of effort into their animations:

Combat Gameplay

There's lots more stuff from the betas so check out Faz YouTube channel, he has a dedicated playlist with tons of P5X stuff.

Ok, that looks like a proper persona game which I was not expecting. Now I'm intrigued.

Yup, they've put a ton of effort into it. That's why I'm excited to give it a shot once it releases in the west even with it being a gacha game.

Thank your for the post....

The game looks great. Hopefully it comes out on consoles.

The art style of Persona 5 is just too iconic. I wonder what art style Persona 6 will have though. I guess similar but with different colors?

The bigger question if the game will succeed on mobile or not.

It should do pretty good as there's already 10M pre-registrations for the CN version with 2 weeks still to go.

That said, I'm more interested in how the Global and Japanese releases will fare, considering how beloved the IP has become.

I'm not into gachas but man, they sure put a ton of effort into this one.

Might give it a shot if they ever release it globally, which I guess they'll do for sure.

Some new P5X info coming from Midori:

Also, here's the official key art for reaching 10M pre-registrations for the CN version of the game.

Looks insane. If this can be controlled without an onscreen controller overlay, but rather direct taps, I'm in!

From the linked article. ^^

I've posted Ambitions and Visions earlier in this thread.
Oh! So that theme was composed by the same composer as SMT IV (best videogame OST ever) and SMT V? Very cool.

Never heard of Black Wings Studio but I guess they'll do a nice job.

The very same. Although Lyn did the vocals for Ambitions and Visions:

You could tell me this was composed by Meguro and I would have believed it. Ryota sure is very good at mimicking his style.

Glad to know the SMT games will keep having great OSTs for many years still.

SEGA is considering releasing Persona 5 spin-off mobile game Persona 5: The Phantom X in Japan and worldwide, the company said in its latest financial report.

"Future expansion in Japan and global is under consideration," reads a bullet point in the Persona 5: The Phantom X section of the report.

Persona 5: The Phantom X launched on April 12 in China, and on April 18 in Taiwan and South Korea. According to SEGA, the game is "starting off as expected" in those territories

We'll be waiting, Atlus.

I might give this a shot just because it's free, but I've never been that into Persona before, and its biggest strengths to me are telling a story and going on an adventure, always seem to fall off in gacha games due to the nature of the games and waiting between meaningful updates.

Nearly every gacha I've played recently has started off strong and then you hit this huge lull and wait for the next update, but there's always a disconnect during the intervening time. Star Rail for instance started off super strong and the launch areas were great and connected the story naturally and was fairly compelling, but then it was a huge wait for the next chunk of story and it wasn't very good imo. I still enjoy the game but for other reasons, but it's definitely on maintenance mode for me, I don't even log in everyday anymore.

I think there's a lot of positives for gacha /f2p games, but there's also draw backs. It's fine being a progression treadmill, but if that's all that's on offer, I don't know how long I'll stick around.

I also didn't care for the SMT Dx2 gacha game on iOS, hopefully this is better then that.

Hmm.. it appears that it might be coming to Steam very soon. Still no new info about the Global version though.

Also... :messenger_grinning_sweat:

You could screenshot any part of the Persona games and it would look great as desktop wallpaper. I'm a fan of Persona so I'll happily check it out. Everything about the games oozes style, even the music. It has its own groove going on and I just love it.

Is this the one with the censored demon designs? if so, into the hee-ho trash.
