Fable Gameplay Reveal Trailer| Xbox Showcase 2024

If you don't have anything to complain about then focus on main character appearance. I thought that the story and gameplay are the most important things that make game good/bad. i was so wrong, if the main character is female it has to look like one from Dead Or Alive otherwise game is "bad" and people will spend 7 pages discussing looks of some virtual character. Jesus. Gaming is in really sad state. Similar discussion going in PD thread, lots of people complained about looks of female in SH remake….wtf. some of you people need professional help. You don't need to masturbate to every single game female/male character.

If I'm going to play a character for 25 + hours I need to at least tolerate it's appearance.
It has nothing to do with gameplay and I'll probably watch her from a distant 3rd person view most of the time.

But when those cutscenes kick in and I have to look away from my TV we have a problem. The kind that breaks immersion.

I don't need to 100% identify with my protagonist I just don't want her looking like a 16 year old hobo.

And I do not masturbate to videogame characters.
I got my collection of imported burn victim handicapped Hungarian porn for that.

I think a lot of western women are trying to project american /north American beauty standarts and thus we get rectangular faces, colored hair, nose rings and stuff. With PG it seems like they are into Arabian looking women (which makes sense considering the state of UK) or something. Reminds me of miss Germany or something.

Which is ironic considering that I see more attractive women in Aldi or AH.

There's not a single beautiful character in that trailer. They all look kind of comical, especially that dude. That other woman is way worse then the heroine.

Anyways, that's not gonna be the game's metric. There are so many bad or only average games that couldn't be saved by the hottest (player) character on the planet.

It's also too little gameplay and it's supposed to be "2025" which is too fucking long anyways to care that much about the game.

They can come back like three months before release. Until then the game's existence in its current state couldn't be much less relevant to me.

I see a trend here. There are people making cogent arguments on both sides, but personal insults and the typical "you just want to masturbate" crap is coming only from one side. Perhaps because you are not trying to make a proper argument or do not have one to make ? Here, i'll help you out. It is perfectly fine to say "It's wrong or shortsighted to complain about the looks of the main character without trying the game itself. You may end up liking it so much that the main character's appearance may not even matter. There are many people in real life who look like that, and it is your loss if you skip a good game because of your aesthetic biases."

See, you can make this type of argument, many in this thread have already done that. This is the internet, so no thread can possibly have only good, well-reasoned, focused and articulated arguments. There will also be a lot of piss takes. But if you want to respond to piss takes with insults and not participate in any other way, that makes you look just as bad as the people you are responding to.

I would also like to point out that there has been plenty of good discussion on this thread about the merits of the game and the trailer itself. Lot of good arguments on how the trailer showed very little proper gameplay and revealed little about the games mechanics, even though the environment and art style look nice. Even then, we can still expect good things because of the devs' track record. There is good discussion to be had here, if you choose to aprticipate in that way.

Looks extraordinary. The graphics, the environment, except for the main character, absolutely stupid.
It's not the main studio of playground games, but I think it's absolutely believable that the game will look like this. So far outstanding.
And the best part is, no 74 Bil or 7.5 Bil spent to get an interesting and exciting game loooool. Imagine if they had founded countless such studios and invested their resources and time in them loooool

Love everything about this game so far. Looks gorgeous, animations are fluid, humour is on point. Also enjoyed the story premisse shown in this trailer of a rival hero.

I trust Playground, more than any other MS studio. The Forza Horizon games were all amazing.

Yup they gave female protag male face simply, i hope for comedic reasons but more than likely its like usual nowadays- woke agenda.

When male protag looks like action figure/model its all fine, when female protag looks feminine/sexy they always make her masculine/ugly af/unfuckable for some reason, double standards are so obvious.

I don't think 'gaming' per se is a bad state, just the gamers. It's like there is a collective breakdown happening with a certain segment where nothing, absolutely nothing, is worth praising and the default position is one of negativity no matter how shallow (what a third person character looks like is just laughable). I've also seen this in DSOG comments area of every post. I either 'ignore' them or assume they are 12 years old and don't know better.

If I can't make my character it's a definite no.

It's probably still a no even if its customizable just because they decided to go current year and made a very bland looking woman the poster child of the game.

This type of attitude we (yes me too ) have is an overcompensation that happens everytime a mass reach a breaking point.

This uglify thing would have been a nothing if 30 % of devs did it, but at the moment it looks like it is a 90 % and everyone got really pissed.

I understand that is nothing important for the game but it has become so prevalent that it obscure everything else... expecially if the devs refuse to give any real info about the game or some real gameplay.

I, for one, dislike play as an opposite gender character (I love to get immersed in games, I don't like to play as someone else) so if I can't be a man I'll probably just skip it.

It seems they reduced her jawline which makes her a bit more feminine? I think the intent was to make her look average and a little rough around the edges. Kinda gives things a bit more charm. Doesn't seem like the kind of game you'd want to be running around looking like princess Elsa from frozen. And for the horny kids that need a bit of fluffing before their me-time you already have Stellar Blade, so we got our bases covered, don't see what the issue is.
 
Am I the only one who finds the "too pretty" criticism of Stellar Blade and the "too ugly" complaint about Fable equally baffling? I find myself appreciating the character designs in both games.

I feel pity for those who think this is about who's the best match as their imaginary girlfriend or not.

Besides, I would love to know games with hideous MCs that have great stories and gameplay. I'm pretty confident that the list is short.

Unless this is a parody like Shrek, a MC like that is a dumb decision and a huge red flag of what lies behind it.

I agree that yapping about the looks of the main character is going on too long, but in fairness, there isn't a lot to discuss otherwise. The things you mentioned - story and gameplay - we know very little about. As far as I could see, there was little to no info in that trailer about gameplay, either the feel or the mechanics, the story, or the range of environments. Just a few glimpses. Mostly what we have are pretty cinematics in a heavily scripted trailer, with some cheeky British humor. There's not a lot to discuss outside of that, really.

And the character's looks have been a subject of discussion for a while now. That may be one reason why she looks better in this trailer than she did in the last.

Yeah... The same type of people who de-beautify them also give them annoying character traits.

As I said before, I'm not so concerned about her appearance in and of itself. I'm concerned about it as a possible symptom of DEI infection. Haven't confirmed the diagnosis yet, though.

I don't get why every game character needs to be an object of desire. For real. Have you ever dated a woman (or man if that's your thing) that many would deem "hot?" It's nothing but constant anxiety because you know guys are constantly hitting on them.

I'd date a solid 6 or 7 out of 10 in a heartbeat. At least you know they're genuinely into you and not keeping their eyes open for something better because they always have options.

Yeah looks amazing, Forza Tech as well is powering this. PG can get the the gameplay down then this could be incredible.
