Fable Gameplay Reveal Trailer| Xbox Showcase 2024

I don't mean to sound like an ass my friend, but those snippets were very short, like barely a second long each, with the character just walking around, aiming or having a cinematic takedown. That's just not it. After a year of waiting I expected something more. Now I need to wait another year to hopefully *then* see some sort of walkthrough.
I don’t disagree, I’d love to see a raw un-edited gameplay footage.

But to say there’s no gameplay? We can literally see clips showcasing what the game will look, play, and feel like

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Who is even making this game now? They closed lionhead almost ten years ago. Is this another case of just making a game and slapping an existing IP name on it?

I'm surprised you're out of the loop. Playground, the guys who make the Forza Horizon games, took it up as a passion project around 2020-ish. It's been in the news for a while.

You don't need to be a porn star to look even moderately attractive

Genuine question for you…

Is every single woman on this planet completely feminine and beautiful? It’s hardly as if every single guy they put in a game is the peak of masculinity or beautiful either.

What’s wrong, can’t tickle your pickle to a video game character, what a shame.
LMAO, stupidest thing I saw in the day.

1. Where did you big brain extrapolate that my post, indicated everyone in the world needs to be beautiful or asked every character to be feminine?
2. Don't pull that real world crap to me. Game is set in a fantasy world where you use magic everyday and suddenly you were whining oh it needs a reality representation of woman!
3. Yes I don't play video games for uglified faces, so what? If I play the game the first thing is to redo the face.

If you wanna wank over her, oh I can help you, here you go

I dont think it is real gameplay, more bullshot disguised as gameplay

This "gameplay reveal" has me more concerned for the game than anything. A simple CGI trailer would have been better. They showed a bunch of her walking around but absolutely no combat.

I mean, I do like the vibes of these trailers so far.

(But goodness, what are they trying to prove with that main character). Nobody likes playing unattractive characters, male or female. (But it does seem they have changed a bit of her look since that first trailer..) If its a good game, I will play it. Its not a reason for me not to buy it. Its just...weird.

So, am I correct in my assumption that there is no character creator and that the main character present in the trailer is, indeed, the main character that the player will control?

You will play as a strong, brave, and (most likely) gay woman and you will enjoy it.
Weird.

I have no problems playing as Samus Aran, or Lara Croft (older Tomb Raider games) or even as 2B or A2. But I am not feeling this character design presented right here.

I'm totally on board with the frustration around SBI, DEI and a lot of 'woke' crap. At the same time I think many have become overly sensitive and cry wolf the second they see a less attractive female character, a female character in general, a black character or occasionally a gay character.

All of these will still exist organically to some extent in an ideal scenario and I think going off the handle anytime we see it only undermines a given position, giving opposing arguments ammo. All I see here is a slightly goofy, scrappy female character that doesn't fit the mould; and that's fine. And if you don't want to play as them, well so be it.

I don't like what they did to MJ in Spidey 2, I certainly find Aloy to be a bit off in HZ:FW (though not to the extent some are saying, but yes, there's a trend here...and I too laugh at the fat Aloy memes), TLOU2 was a mess and I'll act on principal and vote with my wallet on games that are made by vitriolic racist devs with double standards, by those shoe-horning in messages where they don't fit, by those acting revisionist with legacy characters, undermining the tone of the property; or those who involve themselves with the likes of Diabetus Fetus Corp., either by not buying the game outright or making it a physical eBay purchase and reselling it when I'm done.

As this stands though, I'll treat this like any other...on a case-by-case basis. Just because the industry is over-representing certain demographics or messages to curry favour I'm not gonna turn down an individual game unless there's specific issues with it. I'm not gonna treat an individual dev or property collectively just because the wider industry has a habit of treating demographics collectively.

My main issue much of the time is less to do with whether a group is represented or even over-represented, but to do with people trying to gaslight us into thinking they're not appropriately represented when it's quite the opposite.

Looks brilliant. It feels like they nail the dry, british humour from the original games.
Couldn't care less about her looks. Would like to be able to play as a male, and hope they add that option, but regardless this game will be fantastic.

she is not a player created character placeholder right? since some game with character creation just end up just share same motion build for both male and female character. correct me if im wrong since im not really familliar with this franchise. EDIT: apparently a placeholder character for character creation?

wait.. no offense, im not talk about her face but is she is SHE in this game?
Her shoulders are also much wider than her hips. 🤔

To me, everything they have presented so far hypes me up so much for Fable. I can’t express how I dig the vibe and tongue in cheek seriousness of it all being a positive. One of my most anticipated game. I really want to play it NOW.

No. It has not.
Yes it has. As I said above somethings are just " IN GAME" selections. you can change your hair, appearance, clothes, tattoos, get scars and get fat or skinny.

have you guys ever played a fable game? :messenger_dizzy:

appearance features ....

Your character's appearance is based on 6 things,

Good or Evil.

Pure or Corrupt.

Stars in Physique (middle stat of Strength ability tree) Gives you muscles.

Stars in Accuracy (middle stat of Skill ability tree) Makes you taller.

Amount of experience spent on Will spells. the Will scars (blue glowing tattoos) will become brighter and more prominent the more you spend.

Fatness/skinniness
(to keep skinny either don't eat fattening foods or eat celery to lose the fat you've gained)

You're not the only one. There's very little seems intriguing or interesting about the character asides from the fact they are completely unflattering as far as physical appearance.

It's like the Western devs at Playground are trying to see how well they can sell a game that features an unattractive woman as the MC.

I dont give a damn about how the MC looks. In fact, it may be good that she is average/ugly looking, so they will focus on making her personality likable (hopefuly)

Love everything about this game so far. Looks gorgeous, animations are fluid, humour is on point. Also enjoyed the story premisse shown in this trailer of a rival hero.

I trust Playground, more than any other MS studio. The Forza Horizon games were all amazing.

The confusion here lies in the term "Character creator" meaning you create and customize your own character before the game even begins.
Which Fable never had.

Never could get into fable. The promise of depth never materialized so the game just felt like a gimped elder scrolls or something. Appereciated the ambition though. Peter Molyneux, one of those crazy bastards like Kojima, Warren Specter, and Ken Kutaragi.

Most people like conventionally attractive people who follow gender norms. Only the mentally unbalanced think otherwise. That said, the protagonist has gone to offensively ugly to just plain jane here, so whatever.

I think the console warriors need to get their story straight. Does it look worse than a 10 year old game, or is it clearly a pre-rendered bullshot? Maybe somehow it's both?

I'm not that concerned about her appearance per se, only as it might be an indicator of "sensitivity readers" polishing the story, dialog, and characters. I have no idea if that's the case or not. I'll wait and see.

I don't find her repellant in her current incarnation, just average-looking. They tweaked her appearance a bit from last time. At least she looks like a woman now, lol.

I would prefer to have the option of playing as a man, but it looks as if Playground is not going to give us that option. They have heard the negative feedback about the female character, so presumably they would responded that you can play as man to boost the PR, if that were the case. So I guess it's not.

I need to see gameplay, though. That's the main thing. All these cheeky, highly polished cinematic trailers are nice and all, but I want to see how the game actually plays.

Give them an inch and they will take a yard. I guarantee you With this kind of attitude, 2 years from now every western female lead will eventually look like androgynous Humonculi with terrible haircuts. They have no problem dragging gaming down this route.

She makes Aloy look hot dude

I usually go along with all the "uglification" rhetoric that Gaffers like to engage in, but Aloy should not be part of that. She looks beautiful in Forbidden West. Even more so in burning shores. Like a proper, beautiful, pretty, good-looking, gorgeous woman. Almost a perfect recreation of her face model, Hannah Hoekstra. Those couple of bad camera angles taken from one of the trailers that get peddled everywhere are not at all representative of the rest of the game.

Why are people so obsessed with how game characters look? I just don't get it.

PS faithful. The same ones who have no issue with Aloy in HZD (where she looks more like a twin of Jimmy Hopkins from Bully) but can't look to play Fable because of how a character looks.
It's pathetic fanboy stuff, more so given you'll see far more of a character's ass and back, to their face in Fable.
