Nice! Does that mean you can now use rumble features by default?

So far, the PC games I played with a Dualsense had zero rumble features, sadly.

I installed the app...but other than telling me that the joypad fw is updated it doesn't do anything...what am I doing wrong?

There's literally "trigger deadzone" in the thumbnail of the video.
Don't care about that. Analogue dead zone is all I care about.

I have the Xbox 8bit do ultimate controller with Hall effect analogue and triggers . In the software I can adjust the dead zone and save the profile on the controller. If this allow the same for the analogue then this app is a must for me.

If you have the Edge controllers you can customize the stick deadzones and shit.
Go into a profile and you'll see the customization options.

Apparently only works with Edge.

Unlikely, rumble is done in a very different way on the dualsense (it's actually done with sound files) and would likely require work from Devs to patch it in to each game

Edit: further to this, the haptics are part of the PS5 SDK, there was rumours of making all haptics/adaptive triggers available to PC devs soon (not sure if that has happened yet)

There's also "stick sensitity/deadzone" in the same thumbnail.

Look, if you have time to browse Neogaf at work (I'm not judging just to be clear), you have the time to look at the thumbnail, even if you wouldn't open the tweet.

Supported controllers

The app supports the following controllers. Here's what you can do with each type of controller:
Controller types Firmware update Customise
DualSense® wireless controller ✓ -
DualSense Edge™ wireless controller ✓ ✓

For details on customising, see Customise your DualSense Edge wireless controller.

Ah.....yeah, they say that on the website.

"Update the controller's firmware and fully customize the DualSense Edge wireless controller from your PC."

I saw the thumbnail but it was showing the edge controller . I don't have that that's why I asked.

I have an Edge and an elite series 2 that I both recently acquired via trades lol. I had finally settled on using the edge for the PS and the elite on PC.

Back to the drawing board.

Nope. Regular one that came with my ps5. Not spending 100s of $ on a controller from Sony or MS doesn't have hall effect analogues.

Once they do that they can have my money.
Same reason I didn't buy it, fuck that. My two controllers drift. I'm not paying £200 for a new controller and £20 for one stick when it drifts (it's not even 2 sticks for £20).

App looks like a great step in the right direction. So are we at the point that the Edge/dualsense can do haptics and adaptive triggers wirelessly on PC or do they still need to be wired?

This is a bit of an oversimplication I think. Dualsense can be used that way (if I recall, TLoU remaster did this with the footsteps and whatnot), but it's not as good as properly "authoring", so to speak, the vibrations/rumble. Case in point, Astro's Playroom. That still holds the tactile crown for PS5 IMHO (well, for a few weeks anyway until Astro Bot is released).

I was very lucky in one of their sales and got two sticks delivered for £20 with free P&P from Uk PS Store. So the deals do occasionally happen. Personally, there's no way I'd be without an Edge. I love it.

They've done more for PC than they have for their own console this year.

It'll probably get even more lopsided next year :/

VR adapter and controller functions arrive around the same time, interest in PS5 Pro wanes.

At this point I'm starting to doubt a Pro will even release. What is its value proposition when the base console keeps seeing price increases in various markets and almost all of what makes PS5 special is available to PC & Steam now?

A PS5 Pro will be lucky to sell even half of what the PS4 Pro managed, and that's before talking about its price point 😬

it's really a shame that GuliKit dumped their plans to make hall effect stick modules for the Edge

That's a shame. I didn't even know there were plans for that.
yeah they announced it back in January 2023 but then back in June 2024 it was announced because there was no way to calibrate them that development had stopped (they're also not making them for the Xbox Elite controllers for the same reason) but they did announce them for the regular controllers

And there's really no excuse. My 8bitdo ultimate has hall effect sticks (and a dock) for fuckin $50.

That is proper authoring, even Astro uses sound files, the 'motors' are voice coil actuators which rumble based on the amount of power you run through them and this is done by sending a waveform to the actuator (a sound file). Put your dualsense on something metallic, or glass when its doing the rumble and you'll actually hear the sound files used.

In fact, you used to be able to plug the dualsense into a PC via USB and change your PC's sound out put to the dualsense and play audio files which then rumbled the controller in time with the music (in stereo because the dualsense has an actuator either side)

If this is the case, then I stand corrected. Just that in some games, the effect (like in the TLoU remaster) is much more muted/less effective than with some other titles like... Returnal with the raindrops (hah, no Astro there!). I really need to get back into Returnal.

Tried this out on SW : O so they are sort of emulating haptics there, its not actual haptics as when your plugged in certain actions are more accurate like sprinting and menus you get the proper feedback.

But wirelessly with a DS Edge you get similar but not as accurate rumbles. Interestingly adaptive triggers work perfectly wirelessly.

So I dont think this is native DS haptic and trigger support at driver level but its getting closer.

I dont think its possible without a dongle or something as the PS5 uses a combination of BT and 2.4G on the wireless controller protocol, but it would be so easy for them to release a driver and USB dongle, they were happy to for their headsets, im sure it could use the same tech.

I wish Sony would release a dedicated streaming app for PC so you can stream PS5 from something like the ROG Ally without using Chiaki.

Better off using DS4Windows. More customization options for your dualshock 4 and dualsense.
I remember years back using DS4Windows to hack in controller support for Elder Scrolls Online.
ESO eventually did it on their own.
It was a major cludge to get working but it did work.
Has it made progress in the past 10 years? 2014 ESO release date.

It's gotten much better since then. You can customize the lights, view battery %, and do hotkeys and macros. You have to install a driver first before you install the app. But works great.
