As I keep saying, someone would have to pay for this acquisition huge money sooner or later. I believe for them is rather easy to lay off people and be done with, since my guess is that one of their main objectives was just rob a bunch of IPs, while people are merelly disposable.

The combined org after the ActiBlizz merger has been loss-making for Microsoft in all the quarterly reports since closing.

The cuts will almost certainly not stop here.

Indeed. And as I said, part of their strategy is that people working there are totally disposable. They already got what they wanted, the IPs.

Crazy Destin was just saying to day on unlocked that he doesn't think they are done and there will be more before the year is over. I don't think he even thought it would be this quick.

Eventually this will start touching the IPs quality and sales.

Already has in my opinion. I aways though they went on this aggressive acquisition for that, but I was dead wrong.
They don't care about quality. They just want a solid net profit for them, and Call of Duty(like other IPs) can provide that. Pokemon is a solid example that quality doesn't matter. Just realease a garbage low effort and cost game with new mons and boom instant money.

old news, dejavu?! 😕

Edit: Bruh. I Phil for Phil....must be tough to run a business for himself (especially when he doesn't have any idea how to do it)

Unclear if this is part of the previously reported 650 layoffs or not. If so I'll request a merging.

EDIT: Confirmed to be separate. OP updated.

All the while The Initiative, the so called super dev team remain untouched, despite them being so shite development work has been outsourced.

Someone **cough** Phil **cough** is running Microsoft Gaming as a personal vanity project.

People still don't grasp how much work and consistency went into making COD the juggernaut it is right now.

It's as much of a success story as the MCU's golden run, and just like the MCU it can easily become a big mess.
they put almost all the studios to support every COD
any lay off is going to impact it

This almost feels like a back pedal and makes it sound like it is part of the initial 650, not a separate event. But his phrasing is vague. Perhaps intentionally.

If it was part of the initial 650 those would also be in the list you linked. I mean I guess its just a homemade spreadsheet, so its not confirmed, but it looks like its separate.

No he's actually producing receipts.

WARN has to come out BEFORE you fire ppl. So these are all-new.

It was a nice thread and some stellar appearances.

It is another example of "journalists" wanting to be seen by releasing unverified information.....
Honestly it's my fault for jumping the gun on posting this.

He went outside his circle of competence on this.

No need to apologize for anything, you thought it was credible (so did I initially), and posted it. Honestly, that’s better journalism than most of the mainstream press these days. 😉

The only culprits are those indecent "journalists" who only look for ways to go viral and achieve visibility.

It was very easy for him to simply verify or even contrast with employees..... but he saw a golden opportunity and cared little about the damage it could cause.
