Dead Island 2 continues to attract players in numbers. Finally releasing last year after a protracted development cycle, the zombie-slaying action RPG turned out to be a better game than many had hoped, and strong word of mouth has continued to attract players in droves.

In fact, publisher Deep Silver has announced with a press release that Dead Island 2 has now surpassed 10 million players across all platforms, a milestone that it crossed earlier this week, the day that Dead Island 2: Ultimate Edition launched.

I started playing it last summer, but fell off as I was also playing lots of Diablo 4 at the time. :messenger_grinning_sweat: I'm going to have to pick this up again eventually.

That said, the main menu theme song is so good that I usually just let the game sit idle on the main menu to enjoy the music while doing other stuff.

I'm happy for them if this figure means success.

It was one of the best games i played this gen, and coupled with Atomic Heart was 2 of the most pleasantly surprised games this gen, both runs very good and looks great on console.

I would say that for me DI2 is the best zombies open-world first person at the moment.

First they announce copies sold, now they announce player metrics. We know why. They announced the game had over 7 million game pass players since end of May with 3 million copies sold. So basically they didn't sell much at all. Might as well just announce how many zombies were killed at this point.

I didn't know you worked for Square Enix?

7 million players included all platforms not just game pass, so another 3m across all platforms since may and the game isnt on pc game pass either.

Wonder if they will put out a pro patch? I know this game looks very good anyway, I have it on my Wishlist but just so many other things to play. I see it on sale regularly so definitely going to play at some stage.

Not surprised. For me the best biter/infected/walker/lurker/undead or whatever people call it to avoid saying zombie game since Dead Island 1.

Does it feel like the first game? That was fun and I don't think other zombie games have really captured that.

Maybe I should've left the word "since" in there instead of taking it out so you'd understand.

No, not from what I read, unless they made a huge typo.
Has to be. 7 million gamepass + 3 million sold = 10 million. So it can't also be a top 3 PS+ extra game, if the 7 million is just gamepass.

From what i remember no, it's been quite a few years since i played DI on Xbox 360 but from what i remember the first game had bigger maps.. and i mean much bigger, also had cars iirc?

But anything combat related then to me DI2 takes big time, the FLASH system in DI2 is so satisfying:

I forgot about this game, going to get it during a sale. I remember liking the preview when someone hit a zombie and it went flying 50 feet into the air.

Funny how well this game turned out, especially compared to Saints Row by the same publisher. I very much enjoyed the campaign and intend to play the DLCs eventually.

I started it today, I never played the first bit figured as it was on ps+ so I'd give it a go. Too early to judge it, seems fun, but like it would be more fun in VR

I dont know, I remember buying when it came out, I liked the first half but then I got bored. I did not like how linear the game felt either and found the story quite dull

I enjoyed this for one play through. But just couldn't carry on when I revisited it. Its fun until it wears thin - which it will.
