As a guy who bought 3080ti for 2200€ durning middle of cryptoboom, i guarantee u, even if 5090's street price(msrp price doesnt matter with this kind of product, we all know it will be undervalued anyways vs massive amounts of demand its gonna have) is 3k usd, it will fly of the shelves as long as its at least 20 to 30% faster from 4090, not to mention 24 vs 32gigs of vram on old vs new BiS gpu.

As a proof i will just point all of u to current 4090 price, even cheapest models are going for 2,5k usd right now.

it depended on what manufacturer / model you got at launch, but the 4080 16GB started from about AUD$2200 (Gigabyte Eagle) all the way too AUD$2999 (Asus ROG Strix OC)

There is another thing that people are forgetting. In the olden days, GPU prices would fall steadily after a few months. Especially as we drew closer to the next generation.
Nowadays, they keep the same price all the way through the generation.

That was electronics in general. Consoles were the same way.

6th gen consoles had like 3-4 price drops each cutting the price in half by the end
