Yeah these prices are just completely insane. I expected the 5090 to cost what the 5080 price is. The 5080 being a 16gb card should have just cost around the 500 to 600 mark at most and stronger than a 4080.



The 1000 series was by far the best and there won't ever be any generation as good as it even counting inflation. 300 something so not even 400 dollars for a brand new 1070 8gb and still using it after around 8 years. The gtx 260 to a gtx 770 to a 970 each gave me around a couple of years before I wanted to upgrade but the GTX 1070 gave me 8 years and still counting.

I'm just glad I'm fine with sticking to 1080P forever so I'll be aiming for something like a 5060 16gb version which will most likely still be a rip off but at least I won't get rip off as much since I don't need to aim for anything higher as I'm fine with 1080p.

Yup ppl who still got and are fine with 1080p resolution can make massive savings on the gpu purchases, simply coz even if u play same game, exactly same settings/fps but u only need it to be 1080p instead of 4k, thats 4x fewer pixels, which roughly translates to 3x lower performance needed from ur gpu(logically it should be 4x , but in reality its usually around 3x , still plenty coz for example u will be fine with rtx 4060(msrp and actual street price 300usd) and at same settings u will get same(or even bit more)fps vs 2,5k usd rtx 4090 owner who plays at native 4k.

Yup, if u got 8gigs in ur current gpu, u can simply reduce texture quality a bit(still keep it at high, just not ultra or above ultra, which many games have as an option), but obviously for future if ur target is lowend gpu(so 300$ usd range) u want at least 12gigs, 16gigs being best for futureproofing for solid few years.

We know next xbox wont come earler than holidays 2026, but actual next gen wont start till playstation 6, devs simply wont be stupid enough to leave behind that huge market, so holidays 2028 will be next time to look for whats needed to stay on pair or infront of ps6(we will likely get specs leaks and reveal few months earlier .
Again 2028-2030 will be time of x-gen, where most AAA games will still have last gen versions , so if u gonna get 16gigs 5060ti and still only keep it to 1080p u will be safe( max or close to max settings, maybe with the exception of crazy path tracing which is understandable) till 2030, thats 5 years of peace.

Not if you play it right. I sold my 4090 for higher price MSRP that what I paid for it.

a CPU upgrade ( at 4k ) is not needed every 2 years or so. and even a 5800x3d processor that is like 4 or 5 years old by now is way more powerful than PS5 pro cpu ( that thing is a joke why they didn't upgrade it ? )

Really the only very expensive component on a PC is the GPU. rest is manageable.

obviously consoles are just more affordable as front payment compared to PC. but with yearly subs, closed Eco-system where game prices sometimes more than double than the PC price ( especially older games ), you find your self in the long run starting to creep up to PC prices

PS5 was released in 2020. lets say generation end in 2027 for that console ? that is 7 years of ps subs just to have the ability to play online. 80$ per year x 7 = 560$.. isn't this like higher price than the 4070 gpu ? lol.

Those 600$ ppl spending on online sub durning duration of whole console gen is nothing in comparision.

Then why did Nvidia stop producing them if there is still enough demand to push the price up? To launch their next card at a lower price or to avoid the 4090 competing favorably with the new cards comong out?

I highly doubt those 5080 prices given that they had to price the 4080 super lower than a 4080. Nvidia knows they cant get away with charging much for just gaming cards, theyve tried, but the market has already shown that it wont bear it with a 4080.

5090 on the other hand is a different story.

The prices outside of US are almost always significantly higher, so just doing a direct conversion is not enough. Id be shocked if 5080s official MSRP (in USD) isnt in the 900-1100$ range.

Fading the biggest and ultra niche wafer-space eater out first is just common sense. The times where old lines would just comfortably sit besides the new lines while getting cheaper and cheaper are over

This would be the perfect for the competition to swoop in and grab marketshare but Nvidia has no competition whatsoever at the mid and high end so consumers are screwed.

I will say that Intel is putting some pressure on AMD to improve their ray tracing and AI-upscaling. FSR4 absolutely needs to be a home run and this new ray tracing engine that AMD has been talking about also needs to be outstanding. Ray Tracing and XeSS outperform drastically outperform AMD in similar priced products.

Can't speak for the US market but it was available in the 1600s (EUR ofc) several times in central Europe and even the 1500s on rare occasions.

Got mine for $1600. A nice little Zotac. I did see two cheaper models. I think there was another Zotac. Both were going for around $1580. This was right around launch.

Edit: Yep, here it is in CAD. At the time, $1CAD=$0.71 USD, making it $1562 USD before taxes.

I bet I could sell mine for more than the $2120 CAD I paid back then.
