Nintendo Switch 2 Motherboard leaked, confirms TSMC N6/SEC8N

Specs are looking excellent so far. And just think of how much more they will squeeze out of these specs without the OS and multi-config support overhead like we see on the PC handhelds running PC games. It should truly be impressive.

The only thing left to bite us will be the final clock speeds on the CPU and GPU, handheld and docked.

That's the one place Nintendo could take these excellent specs and make them mediocre, just like they did with the original Switch. It's also the most likely place they are to make cutbacks for battery runtime.

Bro thinks this is some flex. Congrats I guess, cause anything less is gonna be a big oof.
And if i am right…

What is expected from Nintendo, if confirmed, is a cheap manufacturing process and cutting corners on the hardware as much as possible. Almost 3 years ago, the Steam Deck came with 16GB of RAM and the Switch 2 will come with less, which will be enough to make Nintendo games look much better.
Steam Deck is a PC wich need way more memory, 16gb would be too much for the possible specs for a console.

Is anyone really suprised by this? It's Nintendo, they could release it with worse specs than the current switch and it'll still sell. All I want is BOTW and TOTK 4k please.

I still think this new Switch has "secret sauce" and will be as powerful as an Xbox Series S in handheld mode.

We're going to see the return of Big Dick Nintendo.
It's secret sauce is DLSS, but it's not going to match Series S in handheld mode.

Surprising they didn't push for at least 16GB. But, the Switch OS doesn't use a lot of ram, I guess it balances out with the Steam Deck and the rest.
The Series S has 10GB of RAM, 8GB of which are for the games. If Series S can get almost all third party games, then I think 16GB would have been unnecessary for Switch 2.

I'm actually surprised that it might actually more powerful than I expect from Nintendo.

Did you were expecting a PS5 level handheld?
That would be fun, if you don't mind charging it every 20 minutes.

I'm guessing it will have around a 900p screen. If it's really at the level of a PS4 Pro then it will be perfectly fine. I'm not sure how useful DLSS will be at that resolution though.

9x to 14x depending on how they set the clocks. But .x numbers are pretty meaningless, we compare teraflops?

Ampere architecture with Ada features backported is already generational leaps compared to Tegra X1's old Maxwell.

8 core ARM A78 also bitchslaps a quad cortex A57.

This is a more powerful PS4 which way better GPU architecture than AMD 2012 Pitcairn's

No need to even go into ARM A78 vs Jaguar CPUs.

So while teraflops is probably 20~40% higher than PS4, It'll be pushing a lot more. Not to mention ML & RT hardware which was just not even a topic in those generations.
Is this on handheld mode or docked?

From my understanding the down clocking of the X1 was required because it was an "off the shelf" part.

Wheras the T239 was designed for Nintendo's specific needs.

Do you not see this as a problem for Nintendo, right as Steam is preparing to expand SteamOS' reach across handheld devices of varying performance and price levels? And as Sony and Microsoft prepare to encroach on their field too?
I don't think they care the slightest about this, no.

Tag what?

Most people are expecting somewhere between ps4 - ps4 pro performance, possibly greater iq with DLSS.

The only person that would get tagged is you, as your making definitive claims without seeing the actual specs.

It's more ram for more assets, worlds etc. I doubt devs look at ps5 for instance that 16gb is the absolute perfect amount of ram and more is completely unnecessary
The PS5 resolution target is higher, The Xbox Series S is a better comparison.

Lol, you most be new in these type of discussions 🤣 BTW a Cyberpunk Switch 2 version running better than the PS4 Pro version is totally possible in docked mode with these specs, all we need to know are the clock speeds.

With Nintendo, its always best to lower expectations. Then prepare to be disappointed.

I think base ps4 level docked, with handheld mode half as powerful. Should do 720p 60 fps handheld with dlss.

Handheld mode about PS4 Pro, LOL. And docked mode an Xbox Series S?

Xbox Series S isn't that much more powerful than a PS4 Pro.
I agree. Series S behaves like it might be 15-20% more powerful with a different newer architecture. For plugging the same system into the TV I expect a Wii that turns into a PS3

What's his track record with nintendo stuff?

It's not funny at all. The Steam Deck already outperforms the PS4 Pro in CPU, RAM, and Storage, and while the PS4 Pro wins in raw GPU performance, the Steam Deck's more modern architecture allows it to perform better in many scenarios, especially at lower resolutions.

If the Switch 2 ends up being more powerful than the Steam Deck, it will naturally be comparable to the PS4 Pro in overall performance. It's a logical conclusion based on how these devices stack up against each other.

12GB of low bandwidth memory and I'm reading it's 8nm Samsung SOC given the SN manufacturing code.
This thing will range between a PS4 in handheld mode with DLSS helping to mask the sub 1080p resolutions and a downgraded Series S in docked mode.
Hironically the existence of Series S will help more third parties to adapt their games to Switch 2 than it has helped Microsoft.

I have no idea about this stuff, but don't we expect Nintendo to downclock Switch 2, just like with the Switch?

Doesn't sound unreasonable to think PS4 Pro is far fetched when the leaked specs suggest Ps4/Ps4 Pro performance and we also expect Nintendo to intentionally limit performance again? Or does it?

FFVII Remake was a tech demo running on the Switch 2.

its a handheld console. You're not gonna have control over the performance like with the steam deck. Raw specs dont mean anything. remember, the switch could run botw at 60 when overclocked.

itll be a ps4 pro on the spec sheet but perform closer to a deck with dlss in practice to meet the 15w requirement nintendo wants
