So what does the name of the Nvidia chip tells us in terms of specs / power ?
Not very familiar with Nvidia and AMD APUs
It sucks. 100% guaranteed. You'll play some Nintendo exclusives on it, even most of them having sub native res and sub 30 fps. Lots of third party titles won't be on there (without streaming) like GTA6. And the ones that are on there will run at ridiculous performance targets making the coming Russian home console look competent.Just tell me if this sucks or not.
This is actually surprising, means these LPDDR5X modules are actually rated beyond 120 GB/s... Peak.
That DLSS is gonna be a massive disappointment for anybody expecting a 1080p to 4K upscale. There are not enough tensor cores on this chip, plus it will need to be downclocked significantly to achieve the 10-15 W system power draw that Nintendo will be happy with. This is not like an Asus ROG or Lenovo Legion with 30W power draw. Third parties will be sub 1080p blurry messes running at 30 fps. I expect some simpler Nintendo games (Animal Crossing/Mario Party/Smash/Kart) to run at 4K/60 docked. I only hope that they have some enhanced BC that improves the playability of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, that game was a true disgrace. Also, the resolution of XC2 and XC3 needs to be improved. DF should be shitting more on horrible running first party games like these.Maybe in docked mode, and even then only marginally so.
Handheld mode will be lucky to be base PS4 power levels
Every cycle since since 2004, Nintendo fans hypes their consoles power to be hit with reality every damn time. It's Nintendo.
Specs and underwhelming go hand in hand. 6nm is dated.
I just wish for a stable 30 fps and 1080p with good upscaling on newer titles with good enhanced BC (atleast 1440p/60 for first party games), everything else is gravy. Do not plan on buying anything for it except Pokemon and Xenoblade. I just need a replacement for my OG Switch, which is on its last legs.It sucks. 100% guaranteed. As usual a dated and conservative design that can be sold profitably at a not-so-outrageous price (400 GBP/400 USD, assuming that tarrifs don't hit it hard).

There's something wrong here, because PS4 Pro and an Xbox Series S, if we don't go into details, both systems are 4 TFLOPS , and the difference between the two modes can't be that small, because otherwise, in portable console mode, it will eat up all the battery in about 30 minutes. Unless, of course, in portable mode it forcibly disables half of the graphic settings to unload the chip. So, in this leak, there's clearly something wrong.Handheld mode about PS4 Pro, LOL. And docked mode an Xbox Series S?
Xbox Series S isn't that much more powerful than a PS4 Pro.
Nintendo bro. I don't feel good
x6+How much more powerful is this compared to Switch 1 (x2, x3)?
The rog ally is powered by the AMD Z1 extreme, which is an ancient SoC by tech standards (though still newer than the Nvidia SoC powering the Switch 2). The most powerful mainstream handheld is the MSI Claw 8 AI+ powered by the Intel Core Ultra 7 258V. I believe that it will be surpassed by upcoming handhelds powered by the AMD Z2 extreme, which will be showcased at CES 2025.What is the chips inside Rog Ally? And Steam deck? What is the most powerful handheld now?
The architecture difference is massive here. S does everything better than ps proHandheld mode about PS4 Pro, LOL. And docked mode an Xbox Series S?

Oh and TW for Taiwan does not mean TSMC
Samsung chips are packaged in Taiwan
Ampere cards

In fact, if the image is legit, S on that chip means Samsung.
There might be some Nintendo branding on the final product SoC. Though why should there be, this is not like Sony adding features to AMD architectures. Nintendo simply buys off the shelf Nvidia SoCs. They bought Tegra 1s that no one wanted for the Nintendo Switch at bargain basement prices (Android phones had access to far better Qualcomm designs). This Switch 2 SoC will cost Nintendo more as Nvidia knows there is money in this well. There are Android phones selling at 200-300$ with insanely good power sipping LTPO OLED displays boasting FHD+ resolution. Watch Switch 2 come with a cheap ass LCD and the Nintendo faithful will praise it to high heavens. I will buy it for the Nintendo 1P games, but fully expect the hardware to be an underpowered mess.Nvidia has so much power over Nintendo they didn't even put Nintendo name of the chip![]()

They're buying mostly ready-made chips. If Im about to sign a huge deal to manufacture +15m chips I sure as hell would ask to give some branding on the chip or even change its name ( EE on PS2), Xenox on 360 ...etc
They're buying mostly ready-made chips.
Adding your branding to an internal part that most won't ever see is just extra overhead that takes from your margins.
Could be anything really. What current device is powered by Switch 2 chip? (Based on the rumored specs of course)
Finally, a sensible reply in this thread. This is what people should be expecting, stop being delusional. That DLSS is gonna be a massive disappointment for anybody expecting a 1080p to 4K upscale. Nvidia makes a lot of SKU@s that aren't immediately for gaming (the original Tegra chip was most notably used in the Nvidia tablets).
The more important question is why would Nintendo care about putting their name on a non-custom part? They're not gonna be shy about using off-the-shelf parts.
DLSS upscale from 1080p will not affect handheld mode but docked mode and leaked images seem to have improved airflow in the dock too. In docked mode I do not see them limited to 15 Watts. That DLSS is gonna be a massive disappointment for anybody expecting a 1080p to 4K upscale. Steam Deck will likely stomp this thing hard in terms of power, even being the aged device that it is.steamdeck goodbye I can feel the powers of dlsss in my hands

Steam deck power is fine. Having owned a deck (and sold it), it's a great device but the battery life drove me nuts. You basically have to gimp the performance to squeeze more than 90 minutes out of it. I'm sure Nintendo will maintain that 6 hour battery life.Dam still using n6, switch has been on that for years now. not surprised n4 and n3 really are really expensive that even Sony did not use them for the ps5 pro. So we are look looking at something similar to steam deck power wise, ohh well it is what it is.
Of course it will.Steam Deck will likely stomp this thing hard in terms of power, even being the aged device that it is.
"Switch 2 Docked Mode: Xbox Series S"
Now that would be impressive. I know it's hated on GAF, but some games really look very good on Series S and Nintendo games are not very demanding.
Nintendo bro. I don't feel good
This actually has little significance. If we take the same Japanese market, which is 100% the most important for Nintendo, one of the reasons why so many Switches are sold is not only because it is portable, but also because this console holds its charge surprisingly well. The OLED version, depending on the game and screen + volume settings, usually lasts about 2-6 hours, and one of the reasons why the Switch Lite sells so well in Japan is because it holds its charge even better, on average +1 hour (3-7 hours But you pay for the best charge by not having a TV connection). That's why Nintendo will 100% aim for about the same figures, if they make a console that will be like the PS4 PRO in a portable form but will hold its charge for only 1 hour, I'm afraid the Japanese won't appreciate such a product."Switch 2 Handheld Mode: above PS4 Pro"
I really doubt that, but if that's true, It would be fantastic.
That doesn't make sense let alone realistic. So it's going to be 4tf in handheld and 4tf when docked thenThis doesnt sound realistic at all.
