I remember playing the MD version when it came out. Telling myself over and over that it was really good and I hadn't wasted my money!

Played it again years later and it was indeed a pile of shit. The SNES version is undeniably better (but still not amazing). We've come a long way in the intervening years and these kinds of games are made so much better today than they were back then.

OP if you're after a cool 2D, old school platformer then I'd highly recommend The Messenger.
