It's been like 6 years and LittleFinger's ending still upsets me. Game Of Thrones Spoilers.

SlimySnake

Flashless at the Golden Globes
Yes, we all know the show jumped the shark in the final couple of seasons, but his trial was so silly and unsatisfying that it randomly started bothering me out of the blue and I have to vent.

First of all, Sansa and Arya have no proof of any of their accusations against Littlefinger other than Bran who can see the past. Even Ned had to admit that he betrayed the crown before Joffrey had him executed. Here, they just spout a bunch of accusations without providing any evidence and slit his throat while his men watch in silence. Even Joffrey and Cersei knew you cant just accuse people of something and have them executed. They waited until Ned was cajoled into pleading guilty.

Littlefinger was the one who set off the entire saga by killing Jon Arryn and setting up Tryion as Bran's assassin. He betrays Ned. Assassinates Joffrey. Kills his wife. And rescues Jon at the battle of the bastards and he is just sent off so unceremoniously its infuriating. Yes, Jaime, Danyrs and Jon all deserved better endings, but i just hate how everyone just took Bran's word for it. Maybe if it was written better and Bran had to convince everyone at court that he can indeed see the past, and provide actual receipts then maybe. But even then, having Bran's superpowers defeat the cleverest man is so unfulfilling. he should've been outsmarted instead of having a supernatural deity call an audible.

You answered your own question, the show jumped the shark after season 4, and then jumped the fucking megalodon by season 6-7.

There is really not much to say.

Never watched the show except a bunch of season 1 episodes from a friends DVD set. Bored me to tears except I remember some nude blonde scenes. Yum. Never the less, I'd watch over the years YT vids of fight scenes and thought it looked good.

Then I saw the ending and a pudgy female warrior stabs the lich lord dude and suddenly (and always conveniently as often happens in movies), the rest of the hoards of evil doers all die at the same time.

Bro the entirety of GoT's ending still upsets me.

This shit was so catastrophically bad the entire show retroactively got deleted from the cultural zeitgeist.

Fumble of the century.

Littlefinger never had anywhere near as much respect as Ned did. They execute people all the time without evidence in that universe. It's wouldn't compare what they needed to justify killing him with what they needed for Ned.

I liked his ending. Thats the ending he deserved. It might have felt rushed, but it was what he deserved.

Unceremoniously dispatched. Not giving him the avenue to worm his way out of it.

Read the books. It's justified a lot better there and felt good.

I'll also mention the image I had of him in my head was more Lord Farquaad from Shrek than Cucumber Bindysnactch Jr. Aidan being more endearing definitely made me think about the character differently in a way that I didn't get with almost all the other characters. All the other actors were basically dead ringers for what I had in my imagination.

He sold Sansa off to a man that brutalized her and everyone knew it was happening.

It's also important to note that the girls were working on him together. So others must have been involved.

I'm sure no one was surprised. But agree the writing could have been better. The North prided themselves on process. In the first episode Ned did the kill himself after talking to the man. It wasn't just a run him down and kill him moment.

At the end of the day it was just fan service.

Show was one for the ages all the way up to season seven, where it unceremoniously turned into one for the bin.

There were so many things they fucked up, and yea, Littlefinger's comeuppance was one of them.

I still can't get over this shit and how stupid it was:

GoT final seasons are still confusing for me to think about... the writers destroyed it, but the production crews and actors were hitting an all-time high water mark for (fantasy) television. There was a spectical, it was really great at times, completely let down by the plot / writers in the end.

There are few TV shows that went from absolutely brilliant, to absolutely terrible, like GoT did.
What a catastrophe.

Oh also.. I think PS6 will have a Blu-Ray drive. Physical games are shrinking ins ales but still quite a significant piece of the pie, and many of the people still buying them are quite die-hard about it.

They've also created quite the quagmire if they drop physical with modern consoles pretty much expected to support BC. That's a pretty massive "Fuck you" to the disk owners. Although that COULD feasibly be handled much like when HD-DVD went away you could trade in your movies for BR's, by having some sort of "physical trade-in unlocks a digital copy" type deal.

They'll need to give a lot more warning IMO than just dropping a new gen w/o a drive. Maybe they'll start experimenting with big digital only releases or something. Thea above mention trade-in deal could be something worked out with publishers ahead of the PS6 gen, so that all PS6 physical releases get that treatment when some all-digital PS7 releases. That would leak though lol

I think they just made it a twist. Like they wanted a cool episode 9 twist and decided to play it that way instead of giving it a logical and satisfying conclusion.

Having a proper episode long trial like Tyrions would've been so much better. But no, we gotta shock people.

I was under the impression the far left on twitter didn't like the ending because "woman didn't win" after being edged for nearly a decade that she would.

I wasn't a fan of the religious cult season but really didn't think the final two seasons were as bad at all. Everyone in the real world I've ever spoken to about the show loved it from start to finish lol.

Now that you've got me thinking about it, imagine how much better the show would have been without Bran. Wish Jamie finished the job early.

He killed Lysa or however you spell the crazy aunts name in front of Sansa and also sold her off to a maniac. That alone would have been enough to get the entire north to rally against him. And I'm sure Bran could have easily proved his power to them. Roll his eyes back and fly a crow in or something.

It is like… the very bottom on the list of how the show fucked up the last couple of seasons.

I am a little bit out of the loop, but was there a reason this happened ? Did they switch writers/directors or something?

The 2 Dans that ran the show were offered 4 more seasons (or similar) and they chose to finish it in 2 because they wanted to do other projects. what we got was rushed and phoned in. So many dropped plot points and storylines.

Another factor is that the books still aren't finished. They were given very rough outlines and points to hit, but everything else doesn't have the book author as a base but TV writers.

Not the best mix. Personally I found the show to be best when it was more about political manuevering than dragons.

George has only written 5 books. There are still two more to go. They were more or less on point when they had something to work off of, after season 5, they had to make up shit, and the only thing George gave them was the fate of the main characters. so they supposedly stuck to it, but couldnt nail the landing.

Dany going mad, Jon killing Dany, Littlefinger's death were all played for shock value a la the red wedding instead of setting them up properly over the course of multiple episodes/seasons.

The writers got addicted to the reaction videos on youtube. They started writing for the fucking morons who watch tv in bars. i remember everyone complaining about not being able to see a thing in the night king episode and i was like what? I watched it in a dark room in HDR and it was glorious. I then go online and people are watching it in brightly lit loud bars, brightly lit living rooms to capture their fake reactions for youtube, and on a computer monitor in front of their youtube streaming setup.

TLDR; Retards ruined the show.

The worm died and getting his throat slashed was what he deserved. However shrinking/cramming what should have been minimum 10 episode season(s) into whatever rush job they crammed was blasphemous. This goes for all TV series now that jam big stories into 5 to 7 episodes. Its not enough time to tell proper stories. And though I am mad as hell that Squid games was only 7 episodes, at least they didn't try and jam the whole story into it. They left at a cliffhanger. (Pissed me off too but at least if they have season 3 this story will be completed properly) 🙏

Season 1 good. Seasons 2-3-4 are goats. Season 5 was goods the rest, it just kept going down hill. Production and acting wise. Everything was good. It was the directors/writers for the last few season that drop the ball of everything. Was on the way to be the greatest show ever

Within my lifetime I expect we will get fan made AI episode edits which provide more dialogue / scenes and undo the horror of the last season.

I am not holding my breath for DS9:HD despite what an easy win that would be today :'-(

Sansa starting a new war for the throne at the end of the show doesn't get talked about enough. The premise was to have one king/queen rule Westeros and she rejected that her brother be it and instead placed herself as Queen of the North. (That's treason!)

The other houses would ultimately follow her lead setting up more division and the war would rage on.

Huh? When was that the premise?
