Mortal Kombat 2 movie coming soon. Karl Urban as Johnny Cage.

I enjoyed the first movie in this recent reboot franchise, will watch... but probably not in theaters.

I'll see it in theaters, I was wondering what happened to this one. Hopefully they kill off that lame protagonist quick, as he's got the charisma of a paper towel.

Should have Johnny Cage snap his neck in the first five minutes, the crowd would go wild!

Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero and Josh Lawson as Kano were the only good things about the first movie. The script was pure retardation.

Needs an epic rematch

I did eventually find myself bored enough to watch the 1st, and I didn't hate myself after. It wasn't amazing, but I wasn't offended by it.

By the way that's not Karl Urban, that's Johnny Knoxville.

Yeah I didn't understand why they added Cole to the previous movie. Lewis Tan could've played an existing character surely?

I thought it was gonna lead up to him adopting the Johnny Cage stage-name.

Weird character but ah well, the movie was fine.

Watched the first on a long ass flight. Can't remember anything about it other than Kano was maybe possibly a little amusing.

Finally, it feels like I watched the first one a decade ago. Sadly I moved recently so I guess im not going with the boys (no pun intended) this time.

The original MK movie is still entertaining as hell and a much better film than this previous one. Still, I'm looking forward to giving this one a chance.

I have some sympathy for Karl Urban, but he's arguably a bit past the expiration date to play the role of martial artist/movie star Johnny Cage.

1995 vs 2021 is the definition of soul vs soulless
1995: face your fears, gain confidence, understand what's holding you down
2021: dude Arcana lmao

Wtf is an Arcana anyway

I feel this. Saw the first one with my dudes in WA and my daughter, I don't know anyone like that here in Maine, but I think I'm slowly garnering a few friends up here, so maybe I'll get one of them to go with us. I know my daughter and wife will be down, regardless, so who needs friends lol.

But we already got Mortal Kombat II.

Weird that they're making another one. I love Karl Urban, but I don't know if that's going to be enough to change my mind here.

Karl is a legend in my mind because of that Judge Dredd movie he did. Now THAT is a real superhero flick.

Look guys this man was MADE to play the Punisher. The real Punisher Max Punisher, not any pussy shit. The real Garth Ennis Punisher Max. That'll be the day boys, o that will be the day.

MK 1995 will never be topped
Man, it's true, lmao.

I thought the last one was.... alright. I REALLY dug all of the Scorpion and Subzero stuff, but everything else just felt pretty ho-hum. The protagonist they created for the movie was the most boring and flat character, I don't even understand why they bothered. I didn't see it in theaters because I had low expectations, plan on doing the same here. But hey, if it's better, neat!

The 95 film ruled, especially at the time. I remember thinking, "Man, this is the best video game movie yet!" I never saw Double Dragon (but could tell from the marketing materials, lol), but I saw Street Fighter and Super Mario Bros. in theaters and they bummed me out, lol. I was a kiddo too! But I was old enough to dislike them because they strayed so far from the source material, lol. MK didn't.

I think MK 95 was good and still holds up because they aped Enter the Dragon. It was basically the same story beat for beat, just with an MK flavor. The soundtrack was god tier. I'm guessing most people in this thread had the CD back in the day lol

I haven't rewatched Street Fighter since I was a kid. I should watch it again. The guy who played Honda died.

That's a dam shame to hear, rest in peace.

I loved the movies because they embraced the goofy side of the whole thing and didn't take themselves too seriously, SF2 still has some of the best comedy to date and it's always a joy to watch.

MK 1995 was perfect, I find it just as much of a cult hit as the game. And I even love the sequel. They never took themselves seriously and were over the top, just like the game. I can't count how many times I saw them.
The reboot movie was meh, saw it once and can barely remember anything, just that it was boring and lacked soul.

I found Mk2011 aggressively average with a few bright spots. I still don't know what the point of Cole was when Liu Kang and Sonya should always serve of the function of audience surrogates ( and Johnny Cage who should have been in the movie).

First movie was such a mess - a tournament without a tournament, bland character no one asked for, poor casting for Liu Kang, fucking lame Reptile (compared to the OG flick), killing off promising characters left and right. I'd just scrap it, wait a few years and try again, this time with more passion towards the games and what gamers love about them.
