Stalker 2 patch 1.1 fixes A-Life 2.0 along with 1800 updates, but it's 110 GB large

With the insane aim-assist, I'm sure you do. I wouldn't brag though.
Actually I don't use aim assist because fucks your aiming in close to middle range. It has some strange magnetic target tracing that slows my aim reaction when I try to lead target with my right stick.

The effort to improve the game is appreciated, but this is ridiculous. Clearly the game came out prematurely and many of the players who bought on day 1 will not have the same experience as players who start the game months after launch. It is unfair.

Might as well wait the A-life tweaks for a while

And by the time this game comes out on PS5, it will not only be fully patched but also PS5 Pro Enhanced.

Feel sorry for Xbots buying a buggy beta version to test out. 🤣

Yeah, going to wait till next year I think to play this. And by then we should have some interesting mods as well.

That is just how the industry works nowadays. Stalker 2 is not the first.

Fair or unfair, reviews stated all the issues at launch. I'm surprised how well it sold given the complaints. Hopefully this is a Cyberpunk 2077 situation

That it has become taken for granted, should not be an excuse for us to remember that it is not the right thing to do.

This is not a patch to fix "details" it's 110GB, it's literally downloading another entire game. Oh, and let's remember that patch day 1 was 139GB. It's crazy.

Nobody should ever blindly buy a game at launch.

Just wait for reviews and see what needs patching first.

I'll jump into stalker when it gets more patches.

But I do appreciate first adopter gamers being the Guinea pigs going through any hassles, bugs, unbalanced online play and corrupted files etc….

Agreed. Very few games I buy day 1. I'm fine waiting a bit and letting them iron out the bugs. Hell a lot of times now they add QOL improvements to the game as well. I try to wait as long as I can before I buy a game but it doesn't always work out that way. Like I just got AW2 and all the DLC for $40 that's a great deal.

its a mixed bag. Indiana Jones was flawless day one for me. Meanwhile on this game I got spanked.

funny enough I had minimal bugs with this game, it was just too punishing. has that changed?

For me it has, but for the worse unfortunately. Up until the last couple updates, I had very little, if any bugs nor performance issues at all on Series X, and this was with the game set to Quality (so everything is cranked up). Now though, since these two patches have rolled through, I'm getting stuff like major stuttering when entering a new section as assets load in, my gun sometimes won't appear in my hands, it'll take several seconds to bring up the mini map etc.

Will try uninstalling and then reinstalling to see if that clears up the fuzziness. Still an excellent game that is unlike any other FPS other currently.

Stalker 2 is on Game Pass. Nice try, though.

>Name is kevboard
>PC gamer
>Plays PC-centric fps with a controller

Could this be any more disappointing?
I thought PC gaming was all about playing how you want without restrictions?

Did you get that Game Pass for free?

Any games you can compare stalker with? Is it classified an immersive sim?
Sim in a lot of ways, but not applicable to your abilities. Guns and bullets follow physics simulation.

You cannot climb stuff and find new ways to solve problems.

Look at it like a hardcore Farcry 2 with much better atmosphere and immersion. Also a pretty hard game.

has A-life been fully fixed yet? I backlogged this until it gets resolved as the first playthrough I wanted to be as the devs originally intended.

I didn't think this deserved its own thread, but I hear that update 1.7 does wonders for performance on consoles and the game now holds a much tighter lock to 60. Any beta testers here?

Im just glad they're still actively updating it. I still don't have a new video card so I guess it's kinda moot for me at the moment, but I do look forward to finally playing this thing someday.

Finally bought it and played the intro

locked 60fps at max settings easy and very polished..? isnt this supposed to be a mess? 5080 and 9800X3D helps i guess

Anyway really impressed so far.

This guy plays with one the best gpus on the market at fucking locked 60 fps and calls it polished lmao. Brother you can play with locked 120fps with that gpu, maybe more depending on resolution/dlss/fg.

It is or was missing A Life, which is arguably the biggest draw to this franchise

Looks like they're working on it tho

It's talked about in the OT I believe

So I don't even need to bother with my 1080ti then?

They've come a long way. I remember the Perf. mode was pretty bad at launch, but it's at 60 most of the time with notable drops being to mid 50's, which is comfortably within the VRR window.

most ue5 games run fine on good hardware. you have the best CPU and the second best GPU. I was running most of these games at 60 fps high to ultra settings on my 3080 because my CPU wasnt some trash Zen 2 CPU everyone on the internet bought back when they thought AMD was killing it.

There are some games that will cause stutters regardless of your CPU but thats mostly due to bugs that are fixed a week or a month after launch. Stalker 2 received several patches where they fixed almost 2,000 bugs. it was an incomplete game that ran like shit because it was simply broken.

you are now playing the fixed version. They are also releasing a new patch later this year that will rebuild the entire game on UE5.5 which has 50-80% better CPU performance. So you might actually be able to play it at 120 fps.

Will wait for this update for my replay. Will probably feel like a completely different game from launch to now considering all the changes they've been making over the year.

Ive played fair bit on pc, havent finished yet, theres quite a lot of good mods on nexus until srudio themselves sort some stuff out. Im also interested in ps5/pro version. Hopefully DF will have video as its launching in 2 days

Update to UE5.5.4 is not gonna happen before and for the PS5 launch. We are probably looking at early 2026 release here based on how often they're releasing major updates (once per 2 months, plus 2026 is almost here). Honestly though? They should've made the jump to UE5.5.4 first to fix the performance, cuz I'm sure they'll have a plethora of new problems with bugs, quests and shit after they finally make the jump, so adding new features and stuff first was probably not the right call and maybe it could've been easier on UE5.5.4 to implement them even.
