Fun Driving Games 2025 edition! List your favorites here!

Gamer79

Predicts the worst decade for Sony starting 2022
Put your list of some of your favorite/Fun Driving games.

In No particular order outside of #1

1. Crazy TaxI: this game just screams personality. You cannot help but to smile when playing this game.

2. Burnout Revenge (non open world) The racing here is was absoutley fantastic. I was one of the first Xbox Live members. Great memories of smoking some good Bud and playing Crash or just racing through White Mountain until 3-4am with the boys in the lobby. This was before the party system (I hate the online party system now) and everyone was forced to talk to each other. I met a ton of cool people with playing with randoms. Burnout Revenge is a fantastic time!

3. Need for Speed Most Wanted: By far the best NFS game In my opinion. The whole you have to go through the wanted list of the "best drivers" and won their Car after the fact. The racing was tight and even the story was not corny.

4. NFS Underground 1: I still remember getting this for Xmas for my Gamecube and could not believe they were playing Lil John's Get Low on the title screen. The story is a bit dated but the racing is still fantastic. The Drag racers were really fun. I had a Maza Miata that use to smoke Nissan GTR's lol. Great Game.

5. Speed Devils: If you have not played this, YOu should! Win money, upgrade cards, Crazy story, fun racing, the list goes on. This game is a hidden Gem and pure Fun!

6. SF Rush 2049: An over the top arcade racer that is just full of insanity. The fun part was racing and knowing/discovering the shortcut's during the races. This game is insanity

7. Rock and roll Racing (snes): Put this on your emulator. One of the best old school racers, period. Like RC Pro am on steroids.

8. Crius'n USA: When this game first game out in the 90's it was a stunner. A fun arcade style racer.

9. Forza Horizon (the original and part 5): Beautiful games if your hardware can Run them and really fun. The story in 5 is just pures stupid but the Driving and Fun outshines that. The Best Modern Racer IMO.

10. Built to WIn (Nes): The name applies what it is. You race, win money, upgrade your car or buy new one, win more money to win more races. Dated today but A marvel for it's time and you should try it in your emulator.

11. Burnout Paradise: IMO not as good as the non open world game but still a blast. The DJ is over the top and tons of secrets and unlockables through the campaign. A great racer for those who have not tried it.

12. Mario Kart: The Latest one is just insane. I do own it on the Switch and have logged about 20 hours online. (just too many games to play) Outside of a couple of races where there were hackers, overall the New Mario Kart is a smooth online experience. Beware because that Blue Fucking SHell is annoying as ever.

13. Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition: Made by Rockstar you know it's Quality. Crazy amounts of Vehicles, Customization, Music, etc. This is like West Coast Car Culture to the max.

14. Road Rash: Race opponetns on a Motorcycle and then when they get close you smah their head in with a stick, a bat, a chain, etc. How could you not like this?

15. Wreckfest: Want to Race a Coffin, A school bus, or play in a "crash up derby" event? This game is just crazy fun

If we're talking about pure fun, America and Euro truck sim 2 rank in my top 5. I can drive for hours with no particular goal and it relaxes me.

Best graphics in a racing game. Still beats games today even though it came out in 2016.

Iracing of course, buy expensive simracing equipment ranging from $1000 to whatever number comes into your mind, pay for subscription($100+ a year), pay for tracks($15 each + taxes), pay for cars($12 each + taxes), get smashed in the first corner.

Crash Drive 3

Yes, from the title and art this looks like shovelware mobile crap. But it's not. You drive around these medium sized open areas with other people filled with all sorts of jumps and obstacles, and the game will load in different types of challenges (races, drive through the rings, collect things, most stunt points, etc.) and whoever wants to can join in. Then you compete and get points to unlock more levels and crazy cars.

Zero depth but it's zany fun. Reminds me a lot of stuff like old Midtown Madness and Rush 2049.

IMO GTA V has the best arcade driving to me. It's simple but the underlying physics are rather complex for an arcade game.

They said it’s a simulator….. that’s pretty much accurate

Burnout 3 and Revenge hold up unbelievably well in 4K in the PCSX2 emulator.

Ridge Racer 7 is peak of the series.

Initial D Extreme Stage on PS3 feels amazing in first person cam.

Wipeout Omega Collection's zone mode is an out of body experience in gaming form.

Cruis'n Blast on Switch. Just look at this fuckin shit:

Forza Horizon is the best modern racer. Every moment of the game when you're not racing is abject, stomach-churning cringe though. Anyone truly hyped for The Fabler 3 has not paid attention to what Playground Games do when the tires aren't turning. Really, when you're not driving in Horizon it's truly worse than Concord and DAVG combined. Can barely stomach it in 5, especially the Donut missions. But yet I play because the racing really is that good.

Such a fun game back in the day due to the destruction you can cause to cars and to the city. Loved the physics. Reminded me of Burnout.

Gt 7( especially in VR)

Have around 600+ hours in it and still playing this game weekly. The cars handle well( especially with the new physics changes, you can now even control drifts properly and try and renact initial D).

Old NFS games

From nfs 2 to nfs carbon. They just had soul and were pure fun to play through. I don't think I felt bored for even a second playing any of the old NFS games. They were and are special.

Burnout games.

Same as nfs games, they just radiate fun.

Wreckfest

Driving a lawnmover trying to escape from a harvester or driving a harvester to crush people driving lawnmovers, how could it not be fun. The damage model is extremely satisfying and the creativity in races adds another level of fun. Pretty underrated game.

Dirt 3-4/rally 1-2

They captured the fun old rally games had and take it to the next level. They are graphical showcases and having to drive at night after damaging both of your headlights is just pure crazy fun. These games actually made me interested in rally and still look and play better than most games on the market.

BeamNG(especially if you use automation as well).

It is kind of like a more sim version of wreckfest. Creating your own car( in automation), exporting to BeamNG and then trying to beat other cars never gets old. Also, just a game wherein you can have hours and hours of fun just messing around

Blur wasnt bad on PS3.
Motorstorm Pacific Rift
Snowrunner is fairly time consuming and enjoyable.

Looking forward to next wreckfest game.

This is why I cannot play this shit game.

I missed out on Split/Second when it was new. Recently discovered that is was on Stream and bought it for 2 Euros. Great game, made even better with the community 60fps patch.
Yeah! One of my favorite game, I still have it for ps3 and bought it for like 4$ on steam!

Where can I download the community patch?
I play on the Steam Deck, and used this video to help:

In the video description you will find the download link, monroeworld is the only one that works. You can follow the video tutorial for the Deck, but mirrored on PC, all you really have to do is copy the downloaded files into the game root folder.

This port is so bad TBH.

No options for using the Xbox controller.

Finally some Burnout Revenge love which I prefer to Takedown. Game is just pure fun. Add an incredible, maybe the best licensed soundtrack and it's a no brainer.

Too bad the soundtrack isn't playing when emulating the game on Xenia. Glad there's a spotify playlist though.

It's quite easy to navigate the menus, A is always select, B cancel/return, you drive like any other racing games. You get used to it. It's the only way to play the game. Maybe there are mods that mod xbox icons into the game, it's as easy as Googling it.

The controller flat out does not work in my case.

BeamNG is amazing, especially in VR. Sooooo much content available - pretty much anything you might want is there. Not as slick as a lot of other games - but the damage models make up for everything.

Shout out to Assetto Corsa No Hesi as well, amazing fun especially again in VR.
