Rather than remaking it, they should've done a $10 upgrade (4K resolution, 60fps, enhanced visuals, DualSense features, SSD loading, plus the new ending) and had Ballistic Moon produce a first-person PSVR2 adaptation of the game instead -- one that resembled the original vision from when it was conceived as a PS Move title.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
Interesting to see but I can see why they scrapped it.
More interesting that the actors was signed on even back then.

This looks good. Why didn't they release this as an optional mode to the game and make it a $10 upgrade remaster? For someone like me on 1080p and a base ps5, the remake makes little sense. A mode like this in first person with different gameplay, mood and story changes would be worth thr few bucks though. Now they get nothing from me, and probably others as the remake is apparently shitty.

I really think Sony lost it's juice half way through ps4 Gen. Most of it's good games were conceived during 2nd half of ps3 Gen /early ps4.

I dunno - to me it looks like the Remake was literally a mishmash of this and the PS4 version.
Technical issues aside (and for that I place the blame entirely on Epic/Unreal and whoever picked the tech migration) - I'm not sure the added mechanics do much of anything for the game (or that they did before).

I mean I would say the scope of taking that prototype and make it into a complete product far exceeds the budget of your average port/remaster (by like 10x at least). Then again they went back and remade the PS4 game into a completely different mechanics with lots of redone cutscene materials and entirely new character pipeline so... yea, maybe.
