Who are your heroes in life?

My father - I didn't understand a lot about him and our relationship until he passed, but through experience, stories from other family, and the hindsight lens, I have come to appreciate what kind of man he was.
Da Vinci - The breadth of discoveries and art he accomplished in his life, despite his humble beginnings. Ben Franklin is kinda similar in that regard.
Josh Gates - Though maybe it's more of a jealousy thing that he gets to do all of these amazing things and go traveling and get paid for it.
Steve Irwin - Really his whole family is pretty cool.
Fred Rogers - Genuinely kind and caring. Provided a lot of support for kids that needed it. I think today's kids could benefit a lot from him. A lot of kids I've met don't know how to understand and process their feelings, and I can't help but feel watching Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood would help them a lot.

There are probably more, but that's off the top of my head.

Yeah he seemed like an authentically good man.

So your heroes are a billionaire and a communist radical who believed they all should have been eliminated. OP is conflicted AF.

Man working in Swiss patent office publishes scientific papers in a short span of time that revolutionizes physics (the "miracle year" of 1905).

One of his theories of relativity is based in part on the Pythagorean theory from the time of the Greeks (as I recall from reading Hawking's A Brief History of Time many years ago).

George Knapp is another hero of mine.

He's and award-winning investigative journalist who currently does a lot of investigating and covering the subject of UFOs. He also did a book on the Skinwalker Ranch. He's also noted for his interviews with Bob Lazar and blowing open a lid on Area 51 in the 80s.

He is definitely not a kook, either. He's actually a respected journalist and has done a lot of reporting on mob stuff as well.

Field Marshall Józef Piłsudski - one of the authors of the Polish independence, dictator, who took power when Polish parliament became total mess and who saved Poland (until his death) from commies and nazis.

I don't idolize anyone, but I always look up to (real) athletes who are genuinely decent people and wish I could be in that situation of peak performance and health and earning many buckaroos for it.

So in other words, mostly rugby players. Dumb dumb me took up drinking, partying and hooking up in Uni instead of continuing with sport, worst choice ever.

My son inspires me to be a better person.

Sappy I know but this kid at almost 16 has more dedication, drive, good sense and a demeanour for his friends and family than I can wrap my head around.

In summers since he was 12 he door knocked and mowed lawns as a business with mates, another mate and him ran a car wash business. He goes to the gym 4-5 times a week at 4.30AM before school for 18 months now. Already fishes better than be. Got our family motivated to hike Australia's tallest mountain last year. We snorkel often. He works at a pizza shop 3 nights a week and invests through me in ETFs. He's been learning entrepreneurship from me his whole life but actually puts it into practice and now is building a fashion label of his own. He flips shoes for school mates and Facebook marketplace. Genuinely never makes fun of anyone and has that wonder and thirst for life. He builds up those around him and always puts others in front of his own desires/needs. He goes to a specialist STEM high school and does quite well. Has zero materialistic tendencies, love a cool device or motorbike/car but doesn't care about expensive things for the sake of it.

I'm in awe of my son. Straight up great guy at 15 and he's just beginning life.

My heroes are Theodor Adorno, one of the most influential philosophers of the last century, and George Soros, one of the greatest financial minds of all time.
