Made it. I use only the spear anyway, no particular approach just played better. The autoparry move is way too short but could come in handy for later bosses I guess that likely will have some lethal flurries. 2 phase was just spectacular, likeI said lots to love here, I just don’t understand how the exhaustion doesn't make the game worse.
Exhaustion usually leads to eating one hit then dodge. As spear users you’ll get to the point where dodge costs one one hundredth of your stamina bar so you’ll be dodging way more than parrying lol.

I just beat Toroka. Think it took me 15 tries total.

Great boss!

Risk/reward. I agree stamina can be a problem early game, especially if you are using great sword. I would highly reccomend putting 3 skill points in "stamina consumed on successful guard". Stamina exhaustion is less of an issue the more you play

My copy arrived today. As expected after playing the demo, this game is heat. :messenger_fire:

I really like the movesets for the 3 weapon classes. The greatsword moveset is among the more unique movesets for a greatsword that I've played (e.g., Souls, Dragon's Dogma, etc.); I love how fast, fluid, and responsive the combat is in general. I'm looking forward to subsequent playthroughs with the other weapons.

Fucking 12 crashes so far and counting on ps5 pro.

No auto save feature in 2025.

I love flushing my progress down the drain. Was 10 minutes into sorting inventory, selling, upgrading, breaking down, etc.

Jesus fucking Christ this game is such a piece of donkey shit.

Can anyone else here corroborate? Sounds pretty worrying for me, nearly a dealbreaker.

It has no rhyme or reason where it crashes to dashboard on ps5 pro.

Been at a save point, been mid fight , been at a npc selling, been early in a play session been later on, etc.

With only you touching a crystal sword counting as a save, if you’re between touches you will wipe and lose any progress, drops, etc during that time.

It’s fucking abysmal dog shit.

I've had 2 crashes in 30 hours on Pro, otherwise the game has been completely bug free and super smooth. It's funny the only time I've experienced frame drops is when using the water bomb item lol.

In other news, I'm about to enter the 3rd region, completed every side quest up until now and found 95% of the soul stones/jarlings, can't wait to see what's around the next corner, last two stages were 💯💯💯 Still using dual weapons ftw.

First level of region 3 clear, absolutely epic though the constant recycling of the same enemies is starting to wear thin. That boss though? 💯💯💯 According to the PSN progress tracker I'm only 51% through the game, wow.

Tried the parry skill in the demo and...it just feels off both the button presses (block + triangle) along with the timing. Might just need more practice with it.

I really recommend you to change the control scheme to the other one, its much better and its traditional Dark Souls, attacking with R1, dodge with circle and so on

As for crashes, I personally havent had any on pc, everything is smooth and works well

Initially I considered changing things around but it was good enough. Might swap it out later to try again. Does it change how parry works too?

The timing is similar to the L1+ O unlockable.
But as stated only certain attacks can be reflected.
Lots of trail and error on bosses, gotta admit feels epic when it connects

I'm on the second to last boss and she is brutal. For me, this game is second to none with boss fights, especially in the second half. I think I really like it because 90% of the bosses are humanoid. It's not like most souls games where there are a ton of massive bosses with indecipheral movesets. Everything in this game is incredibly well telegraphed to the player, even if it seems impossible from the onset

I'm honestly finding this tougher than Sekiro, lol

About 7 hours in now

I just took down VIPER. Getting Genichiro vibes and I’m loving it
Ain’t no way this is harder than sekiro and i have 4 bosses left lol.

It offers an easy mode and you can summon a mimic which you can level. Plus you can boost your stats from armor to have a ton of health and defense. Oh and the phantoms— there’s even one that boosts the mimic lol.

That all said I’m on normal without mimic nonsense and two bosses have ever took me 10+ tries. Sekiro bosses could work your cheeks for 30+ tries lol.

Unless these last 4 soar to absolute bullshit levels, then there’s no way this is in the realm of Sekiro.

Yeah...No. Sekiro is just brutal, specially since you need to meet it on its own terms, you can't overgear or overlevel. I'm finding that this game is getting easier the farther I go. It didn't become EASY, mind you, I'm still dying to bosses, just easier after everything clicked.

How difficult is this on a scale of AC Shadows to Sekiro?
Bosses have patterns that you’ll get completely wrecked if you don’t have the pattern memorized. It feels closer to Sekiro than any AC ever made. You’ll fight 2-3 bosses before getting to a boss that will either make or break you. I started from scratch and went with the spear, killed Viper in a couple tries. Felt good after that rage quit I had.

This time I’m doing side quests. Those are definitely worth doing. I also wish they had more variety but the enemies they do have are good.

Is this the crash? I’m also playing on a Pro. It literally just happened to me. Didn’t experience this before.

How the *fuck* does this boss have a second phase? Barely made it through the first, all out of healing and you now want me to fight the fucker again but he's now on steroids? Alright, going to be here for a while lol. The design of these last 3 bosses is god-tier though, I'm impressed 💯

I'm on the final boss. Just by fighting him a few times and watching someone else beat him, I know this will take 3-6hrs to complete(no summoning). Absurd the amount of shit he throws at you

I'm on the 3rd boss of region 3 if you remember. I *am* summoning though it doesn't help too much since they always die about midway through the fight, nevermind getting to phase 2 lol. Playing on Normal of course 👍

After a near perfect phase 1 I literally jumped up off of my comfortable leather sofa and yelled "are you fucking kidding me!?!?" with the way phase 2 ended. But then.... 😆 (Late game boss spoilers!)

A lot of these bosses are probably easier if you master the standard counter but I find it very unintuitive/finicky just like Lies of P. Brink guard feels *perfect*, special counter feels *perfect*, seems they overcomplicated the parry just to give it it's own skill tree.

Anyway, happy to be moving forward, completed every sidequest that opened up after this fight, now to progress the main story, absolutely loving everything 👌

I had a lot of trouble with Viper because I only used the parry and wasn't aware that reflection was a thing lol

I totally overlooked the two counter mechanics as part of the game. Now I'm breezing through the last few stages and bosses

Dodge is my bread and butter now as a spear user. I rarely need to reflect because there’s almost no stamina cost.

I've been rocking dual wield since the beginning and sometimes I feel like I'm downright oppressive against bosses. Trokka, the witch boss? Couldn't run away from me no matter what she tried. Pulverized her when I got her moveset down.

I left the game. Interest just went to 0 and I’ve moved on. Have 4 bosses left and 0 desire to see this through to its end.

Nothing of my original complaints ever changed. This is slightly better than lords of the fallen but not by much. This isn’t even in the same league as Lies of P, and not even remotely anything of FS titles.

Glad others enjoy it and I tried, but this game is just bad.

-I had tons of crashes. No auto save. Lost progress and loot.
-Gear system is broken and uninspired. I spent all game using one spear I upgraded. Nothing better ever dropped. I used bard set for levels, nomad for bosses, and nothing else ever mattered.
-Transmog behind new game plus totally retarded.
-Not a single piece of music was good. I can’t recall a tune.
-Story was completely filler and junk. Nothing of interest happened.
-Low effort semi still images to present story instead of cut scenes.
-PS3 quality low polygon ugly environments. Only slightly better in later levels with statue architecture.
-Game has a terrible color pallet aside from Khazan. Dull muted shit filter.
-Not a single level had atmosphere or art direction worth talking about.
-Bosses were piss easy overall. Later bosses had some that took more tries but I never felt “challenged” . It was just a matter of when.

The good:
-Armor sets do look cool … just no transmog until NG+ as mentioned.
-Combat is overall good and has good tempo. I still had numerous moments of being stun locked and spamming heals that the game wouldn’t register.
-Bosses, are the highlight. Unique ones, bad ass ones, etc but the major reason they are good is they felt fair and easy to read.
-Both dodge and parrying had a use and place.
-Seems all 3 weapons are viable but spear was my go to and quite flashy which I liked

——

Lords of the fallen I flat out gave a 1/10. Maybe now I’d say a 3/10 if I’m being generous.

This game id say a 6.5/10.

—-

I’d like a sequel with improvements to all of the above. This had franchise potential and a game that could be an 8 or 9 out of 10.

That’s a good feeling. Congrats!

It’s cool to fight these bosses with unique attack patterns. It’s just not going to be a game I will always remember for some sorta stellar level design. It sure is cool when you don’t have a big From Software game to play or should I say play for the first time. I would say it was worth the money. So are most of the soul clones. You get your time and money out of it. I dropped The Surge because I wasn’t feeling it. I finished Code Vein and this gives me similar vibes, but with better gameplay. Khazan doesn’t feel like GOTY material, but it certainly isn’t the worst game I’ve played.

I'm still stuck on final boss with Dual Wields, so I started a new run with Greatsword. Pretty awesome how different the weapons and skill tree are from one another. The Greatsword becomes a lot of fun the more you progress

Also, I really enjoy the ability to shoulder tackle NPC's with the Greatsword. Just played a level with dozens of civilians, where I just bodied all of them for the free Lacrima. Felt like Terry Tate, the Office Linebacker
