It's going to do well, but I doubt it will do AS well as the original Switch. A lot of casuals won't see the need to upgrade, just like Wii to Wii U (but I don't think this will bomb like the U of course). It's not a new concept anymore, it's the same thing but slightly better.

No. Too expensive and it's launching in a bad economy. I can't see alot of families justifying 450 dollars for a console and another couple hundred for games and controllers etc. The price on everything is insane.

What is the current record?

I feel it has a lot stacked against it. I think it'll do a lot better than Switch did at launch though, if only because they've produced a lot more to meet demand this time.

Only way it will break is if scalpers buy all the shit up. As a consumer probably not since the economy is shit. Plus it's no longer a fresh concept like the original one was.

Nope. Don't think so. This will be the first time I am not buying a Nintendo system at launch. Nothing really excited me. More like Switch 1.5.

Nope. And in this economy, and the fact Nintendo Switch 2's reveal of pricing for games and other b.s pissing off everyone, I doubt it.

Nintendo is doing their own equivalent of Sony's 2006 E3 and Microsoft's 2013 E3.

But people are also sad and desperate for escapism. Americans are loaded with credit card debt, throw another $500 on the pile to gain some of that sweet sweet serotonin.

Not at $500, and not if GTA6 launches this year. If it had even one or two blockbuster first party titles announced for this year then maybe, but judging by the reception I've seen on GAF it seems like that Direct deflated a lot of people's hype.

Possibly if they can get enough stock in people's hands, and tariffs don't unexpectedly impact the pricing, and we don't go into full global recession.

It should sell better than Switch 1 at launch - as Switch 1 did not sell that great in the beginning - but overall I think Switch 2 is similar to SNES. Granted it will have a bigger longevity still.

They sold 17.79 million switches in the first year... so not sure what you're talking about.

Will do like the Wii U

This launch will backfire for Nintendo. Their target audience has NO money for these ridiculous prices.

They will sell every single unit they put out. Just as every other console did in the past. Heck, even the Saturn did that.

yes my friends first 12 months vs every consoles of all times
Revenue wise yes but unit wise no. High price will prevent that.

They are aiming to achieve growth through greater spend per user rather signing increasing the number of users.

Doubt it. $450 and $80 for the games are a hard ask.

I suspect it'll sell better than the ps5 or SX respective launches but thats mainly because i dont think it'll have the same supply issues as the prior systems.

Possibly, but mainly because I think Nintendo have a lot of stock ready to ship. Lifetime sales Switch 1 will destroy it.

Especially without a BOTW/Super Mario Odyssey level game
?

Mario Kart is the best ever selling switch game, sold more than both those titles combined.

There is no bigger Nintendo game. Theres a reason they are leading with it as an exclusive.

It will maybe do half of Switch sales.

A lot of "You already have a Switch" is going to be happening.

Gaf said that the original Switch was dead on arrival and predicted it will be the demise of the company.

Gaf is again saying the same thing.

I'd say this console will sell 100+ million, maybe not as successful as the original Switch, but still successful overall.

There are 150 million more users and a lot of them complained about the SUBSTANTIALLY HIGHER pricing.
Doesn't mean they can't afford it. I'm certainly not happy about expensive games but I'll still be buying the Mario Kart bundle.

90 dollar games and a almost 500$ toy are a hard sell to parents with kids mate.
Ok but thats not what you said.

But thats what games where back in the day and everyone seemed to do ok. I remember paying over £100 for an import Street fighter 2 cart. If the game is a banger it'll sell regardless.
