Based on what we know about the Switch 2, did you think is a true next Gen Switch or Switch Pro in terms of graphics?

Some people were doubtful about this…

Not at all.

We just know Nintendo better than you and understand they haven't made a competitive piece of hardware since the GameCube.

In fact, Switch 2 will likely be more akin to a "Switch Pro" - a mid gen refresh -- rather than a true next gen step.

I have no doubt they will cheap out on the process node of the chip, cheap out on the power, and cheap out on the dock's potential. And they will sell it to you for $399.

If we talking performance increase vs og switch, we know even before dlss/rt/new features, its 8x faster, gpu wise, and at least 2x faster cpu wise, so definitely next gen handheld experience, it has bigger increase than base ps4 to ps5pr0 actually.

Ofc is it. DLSS alone would mean a huge jump in both framerates and image quality.

Didn't NVIDIA say it's 10x the graphics capability of the current Switch?

How does that compare to the move from PS4 to PS5/XBO to XBSX/S?

i bought the Switch 3 time so I'm an expert. The thing could barely run games at the end, starting couhing when you moved the camera too fast.

And now you have open world games at 60fps ? 120fps modes even ? Yeah, it's day and night

People saying that this is hardly an improvement over Switch 1 are weird

I was looking at the Treehouse Live today and they were playing Mario Kart World mulitplayer and even the graphics look fantastic. This ain't no Switch Pro

PS3-PS4, the third party footage we have seen tells us just as much. It's bigger than either of those leaps.

The jump in power from Switch to Switch 2 is roughly similar to the relative jump in power from XBO to Series X.

It's not a "Pro". It will have a huge library of games not playable on the original. Unlike any of the upgrades.

Its a new gen because it will have games specified for Switch 2. Yes there is barely an improvement over Switch but the above point negates that.
Nintendo is just being kinda lazy with their exclusives, third parties seem to be the system pushers at the moment and it really shows.

Who on earth is voting No?

It's to PS4 what Switch 1 was to PS3.
A lot of people are avoiding this…

And just like Switch being a more powerful PS3, Switch 2 is looking like a more powerful PS4. What I'm wondering about is the CPU, I hope the CPU is equally as good as the GPU. Also you know exactly the type of posters who are voting no are

It's significantly more powerful and advanced in all departments.
Some of the new games are technically impossible on the Switch 1.

Its a next generation console. It can play high end console games just not possible on the OG Switch. And being able to run games much better than any other portable on the market. Despite its specs on paper, its a surprisingly performant machine.

We already have some DF takes and initial analysis on the console and its certainly looks to be punching well above its weight.

Didn't see the Metroid or the Mario Kart presentation yesterday? The jump from Switch 1 is huge.

Its definitely a generational leap for that ecosystem.

its a bigger jump than most people expected and that scared the shit out people here it seems.
Not kidding, many here knew the specs beforehand but I am vastly impressed with what has been possible so far. I am even starting to doubt the clock leaks we got a while ago because the current ports seem impossible on those.

1080p 120FPS
4K 60 FPS
Mouse functionality

That was all I needed to consider this a substantial upgrade from Switch. Better specs and performance and also new gameplay functionality.

So YES, it's the "next gen" of the Switch for sure.

The hardware is what I'm most pleased about from this reveal.

The pricing and the games so far much less so...

But the hardware is a really pleasant surprise.
